I'm a 1911 and BHP guy but for competition, I've moved to Glocks
The Gen 4 with the finger grooves works way better than the Gen 3 did. The backstraps that came with didn't do anything for me
After reading this full thread, I guess I am just lucky. Haven't had the problem with any of the tapes I have tried. Probably because I'm only shooting less than 1000 rds per month
I've had a few offered to me as trades and have held off until I was able to develop more info.
Now that I have more info, it would appear that I would need to shoot the individual pistol first before I would move forward
Two guys at our club have the following shotguns for home defense Rem Tactical and Rem Police
They have been using 00 Buckshot for home defense and want to try 3 gun.
Their shotguns don't cycle with low brass game loads and they are trying to find a solution to be able shoot "cheaper" ammunition for practice
I've got a Benelli M2 so I don't have the problem and can't advise them
Any thoughts or assistance appreciated
I am looking to see more responses to this post. Have been thinking about buying one but will hold off until I am confident it has been thoroughly debugged
Wow, I had a hard time understanding my own response.
My pistol was SS and I had it IonBonded. The finish looks great. It is sort of a gunmetal gray rather than more black as I would have supposed. Mone the less I like it and would do it again when I have a pistol that needs refinishing.
I have had IonBond applied to one of my custom 45's. The pistol had polished side flats and matte everything else. When the pistol came back the end finish color was different than what I sent but the side polish came through just like the original finish. Tough stuff, I really like it.
I have a Yost with the rounded butt. I like it a lot and will add it to every pistol I have built in the future. The bobtail doesn't feel natural to me.
Both Ted Yost and Don Williams offer their version of a short pull, short reset trigger. While the final product is not a 1911 they end up being very nice triggers.
While the relaxed (firm) grip sounds counter productive, once I stopped fighting the pistol, my scores improved. After a few matches, the firm relaxed grip is natural
The lack of a cannelure shouldn't be a problem. I use a taper crimp die in my 650 rather than a roll crimp and it works well with non cannelured bullets
