  1. It looks like a good EDC replacement for a "real" hi power. Don't have to worry about the wear and tear
  2. I ended up trading into a P09 at a recent show. It's starting to grow on me. Really like the easy accuracy
  3. I'm a 1911 and BHP guy but for competition, I've moved to Glocks The Gen 4 with the finger grooves works way better than the Gen 3 did. The backstraps that came with didn't do anything for me
  4. After reading this full thread, I guess I am just lucky. Haven't had the problem with any of the tapes I have tried. Probably because I'm only shooting less than 1000 rds per month
  5. I've had a few offered to me as trades and have held off until I was able to develop more info. Now that I have more info, it would appear that I would need to shoot the individual pistol first before I would move forward
  6. No question, I do better once I get over the intimidation factor. Hey, they all started somewhere
  7. sounds like I am getting closer to a solution I'll call Remington tomorrow and ask about the parts mentioned
  8. Two guys at our club have the following shotguns for home defense Rem Tactical and Rem Police They have been using 00 Buckshot for home defense and want to try 3 gun. Their shotguns don't cycle with low brass game loads and they are trying to find a solution to be able shoot "cheaper" ammunition for practice I've got a Benelli M2 so I don't have the problem and can't advise them Any thoughts or assistance appreciated
  9. I'm adding this link to my favorites. Good deal
  10. Red Dot and Unique have always worked for me. Probably since I have large supplies of powder
  11. 3.9 or 4.0 seem to be the go to loads for my pistols
  12. The 9mm was originally designed for 124 gr bullets. I find that 124 or 147 gr bullets are more accurate than 115 gr in my pistols
  13. The EGW die is the way to go. I also check with the Wilson gage
  14. Dang, Got way more out of this thread than I ever imagined.
  15. I am looking to see more responses to this post. Have been thinking about buying one but will hold off until I am confident it has been thoroughly debugged
  16. Wow, I had a hard time understanding my own response. My pistol was SS and I had it IonBonded. The finish looks great. It is sort of a gunmetal gray rather than more black as I would have supposed. Mone the less I like it and would do it again when I have a pistol that needs refinishing.
  17. I have had IonBond applied to one of my custom 45's. The pistol had polished side flats and matte everything else. When the pistol came back the end finish color was different than what I sent but the side polish came through just like the original finish. Tough stuff, I really like it.
  18. I have a Yost with the rounded butt. I like it a lot and will add it to every pistol I have built in the future. The bobtail doesn't feel natural to me.
  19. Both Ted Yost and Don Williams offer their version of a short pull, short reset trigger. While the final product is not a 1911 they end up being very nice triggers.
  20. I may have to try the Vanek trigger as a way to bond with my Glock. Hard to love a brick.
  21. I'm going to have to get my 22 conversion back out. I don't have the time to reload that much every week, let alone pay for the components.
  22. Pharaoh Benders video gave me a great start on dry firing drills. Looks like next is the book.
  23. While the relaxed (firm) grip sounds counter productive, once I stopped fighting the pistol, my scores improved. After a few matches, the firm relaxed grip is natural
  24. The lack of a cannelure shouldn't be a problem. I use a taper crimp die in my 650 rather than a roll crimp and it works well with non cannelured bullets
