  1. Lot of answers to that question. Short version is you'll see mostly FN SLPs, followed by a mix of others. Mossberg suppossed to come out with a shotgun ready for 3 gun for not much money. My advice, save your money (wife would be happier), and shoot what you got for the first year (or 2 like me), then you'll know what you want. edit: Oh, welcome to the forums!
  2. Catches the vision better. Pick up aiming point faster kinda deal.
  3. thats actually one of the recommendations on the clark site, is to pipe wrench it, and file down the burrs.
  4. Guess I will get me some of those shotty dummy shellys (sorry, really sorry), but for those of you concerned with my safety, this is what I do. I only bring 16 shells with me and the gun for practice (exactly what fills 4 4round caddies), I have only been practicing the "loading" part lately, so until I get that mastered errr better, I have had no reason to rack one into the chamber. That'll be in a few weeks when I'm super comfortable with the new technique. (and the dummies get here) BTW, what's a good source for the fiochi rounds?
  5. OK, This will be my first barrel/handguard change out. I've got the ar specific tools ordered -vice block -nut wrench -strap wrench -epoxy I've done the searches, and watched the youtube vids, the brownells stuffs, and it all seems pretty strait forward. Nothing mysterious. Couple of things about the Clark handguard. Apparently, the only way to get the barrel nut on is to use a strap wrench. But, almost everything I came across says to use some anti sieze/grease on the barrel nut thread area EXCEPT for one thread on these forums, someone mentioned using red locktite on the barrel nut threads (but only for the aluminum clark nut). Also, I saw where someone used gasket compound on the actual part of the barrel that goes into the upper, another blue locktite there, and some vids showed guys greasing that area also. How important are these things? What do they do? Would it be a disaster if I wanted to do future work on it, or just a minor bother? Fill me in folks.
  6. My FN has no way (that I know of) to put one on the lifter, but a quick rack of the bolt handle would load the "shotty" up quickly. I mostly don't do it because I'm using live rounds, and am in the house, (already discounting one safety rule) just one little ooopsie, and I'd have a "shotty" hole in my wall. Sorry, had too
  7. Oh, I've just got to.... I use my wife's pictures on the wall Her pictures of plants and paintings of fruit & stuff. What did you think I meant?
  8. I've never measured primer depth.... I case gauge my match ammo, when in the gauge I "feel" the primer/case rim, and if it "feels" good, it passes.
  9. I got a "shipping label was created email" muhahahahaha
  10. From this day forward I shall only refer to mine as "Salient" or "FN/SLP"....swear.
  11. OOOOOOOOOOOO! Thats funny right there.
  12. Bore snake, with a dab of slip2000 on the tail end.
  13. Local welder tacked on a plate to the bottom of lifter, I had previously cut the forks off. Thanks Ryan
  14. Hmm! I might have to give myself a stranger this morning. Lmfao! BWaaaaaahahahahaha
  15. Kurt, that means a lot coming from you! If it passes your inspection, then I'm happy
  16. Where do you live? Someone may be in your area, that would show you some things. #1 BE SAFE, practice safe gun handling procedures ALWAYS. For beginning dryfire practice, find some reading/video on proper stance, grip technique, and draw. Some things I found useful when I started were the "Pro-tips" from shooting usa's website. Real pros giving basic information on the fundamentals. Get a holster, put a target on the wall (safe direction) triple check unloaded, no ammo in room/area, focus on target, draw, aim (change focus to front sight only) and press until "click". Repeat, as smoothly as possible for at least 1,000 draws. Then start other things, like transitions to the next target, or relaods. Master the fundamentals, everything else is based on that!!!
  17. Ok, things are finally starting to look and feel how they are supposed to! Just have some rough edges to smooth out. Thanks to everyone for the advice! Especially Kurt, Jesse, & West. I'm really glad I asked for some help, as the "new way" is already beating the old times, and I've only been at it for a week. So, here is the current culmination of all your help sofar. All, I got to do now is commit to some regular practice, and I hope I never have another "sure wished I'd practiced that weak hand reload" moment.
  18. These games are based on time, whichever gets the fastest best hits....wins. Never shot a bad guy.
  19. Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association hat = no button ( pilot headsets ) probably more hats in the aviation industry without buttons, for same reason.

    Snowed in...

I had to slip and slide my way to the drug store. Man, if they would let me sell those from home.......
  21. Mark's advice is VERY VERY good. I shot a stock bushmaster 16" carbine for 3 years before I got what I really needed, and was doing fine with it. Also, a stock Sig 229 (compact 9mm) Gotta remember it's the Indian, not the arrow.
  22. I take a sharpie, and on the clear plastic hopper, I draw an "up" arrow, and around that I draw a circular arrow showing "clockwise".
  23. Thanks for posting mark! You miight consider federal bulk as well for any future testing.
