  1. I had a chance to shoot this rifle and was well impressed with what they came up with. I like the combination of the 18" barrel with a rifle length gas system. Combined with an adjustable gas block and the supplied comp it shot very flat. The trigger was a bit heavy but clean and had a short reset which aided a bit in getting off fast doubles. I like the use of the carbon fiber float tube, however I would have prefered it not to have the slick gloss type finish. That should be easily fixed either by scuffing it up with sand paper or application of skateboard tape. I am still curious to see what kind of accuracy it would exhibit at range as we didn't have a chance to stretch it out any. Still not sure about the mags though. Orange and blue??? What was he thinking? Peter Adams FY 39604
  2. Speaking as someone who primarily shoots open, my limited guns have green fiber in them just to avoid confusing myself when I switch back and forth. With the red fiber I tend to see the red dot on the target and shoot as with the open gun that would be all I need to see... The green triggers the check sight alignment response . 3. A friend of mine (who also happens to be a surefire rep) turned me on to these. If I put the plastic stoppers in and put them in correctly. They are more than adequate for my hybrid 9mm major open gun. Most of the ranges I shoot at have large bays though so not having to deal with the sound bounced back from the berm walls may be a factor. Peter Adams FY-39604
  4. The barrel in mine is fairly "fast" so I use about 4.1 gr of TG with the precision coated bullets. Peter Adams FY-39604
  5. I believe that Sp2 is still produced. However there is no current US importer. It works well for super but there are other things that work as well. Where Sp2 really shines is in major 9 due to its density, small grain size, and burn rate. Peter Adams FY39604
  6. The only ones I have seen were built by JL Hardy (for his own use). I think he drilled and tapped the receiver and cut out some brackets along the lines of the ones used for the 1100. Peter Adams FY-39604
  7. Our club has started running 2 rifle stages after every pistol match. One is usually a re-shoot of one of the pistol stages. The other is a dedicated rifle stage. The folks that shoot with us seem to like it. It seemed like a good way to start people thinking about more than one gun at a match... Peter Adams FY-39604
  8. You might try asking beneli2 or SGDM. One of those guys will likely know how to reach Harp. Peter Adams FY-39604
  9. If you aren't wedded to the 4x I would say the weaver 1-3 is the best choice in that price range. Peter Adams FY-39604
  10. I feel for ya man. Typing this inside plane waiting on passangers from annother flight. You delay makes 30 extra min on the ground in dallas not seem so bad. Good luck to you, Peter Adams FY-39604
  11. To disasemble find the little black rubber plug at the back of the bottom of the magazine. Pull this plug out. This will allow you to slide the bottom plate back. This disengages the tab on the floor plate from the slot in the front of the magazine. That will allow you to remove the floor plate. I disasembled one this evening. A standard ar spring seems to fit you just have to fiddle with it to make it match the hk spring. The new spring seemed to increase the spring pressure. I cycled some dummies through my ar after changing the spring. Not sure if it'll work under live fire. The hk spring seems to scratch easier than the brownells replacement spring I put in there. I wonder what hk uses for a spring material? Peter Adams FY 39604
  12. Ihave been told by someone who should be in-the-know that the springs in the HK ar mags don't last as long as they should (won't tolerate being left loaded or hold up for as many cycles) as you would like. Can you use normal AR springs in them? I might try some new chrome silicon springs in one of my hk mags tonight. Not that I have ever had any trouble with mine. Peter Adams FY-39604
  13. One of the places that I like the Beta over the 40-50 round mags is that I have a problem getting down prone with the longer mags. Particularly if I have a port or something to shoot through that constrains my position (by height). The Beta seems to work better in this circumstance since it is about the same height as a 30. Just something to think about... Peter Adams FY-39604
  14. Mine works fine as long as I remember the squirt some of the supplied graphite in it periodicaly. It gets used for any stage of 26 rounds or more. Just load 10 to 15 more than you think you need and drive on. The only drawback from my perspective is that you can't use a magwell on a rifle that you plan on using a beta with. Which sometimes bites you if you get in a situation like a standard where a reload is required. Peter Adams Fy-39604
  15. Stupid? Mark and I had no clue it would turn into a classifier when we thought it up. Yep... Just a fun speed shoot for the match (Area 6 right?) Peter Adams FY-39604
  16. Quick question. Unless they are making single stack grips so that I can go cheat in single stack by using an STI. Why the metal grips... I thought the whole point of the Tripp frame was to do away with the metal grip? Peter Adams FY-39604
  17. I get an under construction page when I try to go to www.cartsupport.com Safe bet they have some problems on their end or you wouldn't see that on their main webpage. Out of cuorisity I went to network solutions and did a whois below is what I got. If you can't get anyone in the NOC you might try one of those numbers. Registrant: Oakland Group, Inc. 686 S. 18. Ok, so if you can ping the server you have connectivity (unless they are doing something strange on their end like they have a load balancer in front of the server). When I tried to go to the url that you mentioned above from my browser I got "The connection was interrupted" as opposed to timed out. That looks like some kind of problem with their webserver as opposed to the machine that it is running on. So I pulled up a dos window and executed the following command: telnet www.cartsupport.com 443 That tells my computer to try to open a connection to Port 443 on their server (the port that https runs on by default). That command should look like it has frozen. In another window I run the command netstat -an this dumps a list of all the connections my computer has established. Then look for a line that looks like: TCP 192.168.0.100:1088 64.78.35.113:443 ESTABLISHED This says that you have gotten connected to them. At this point I would say that they have a problem with one of their load balancers (machines that sit in front of webservers and distribute load) or there is a problem with the software on their server itself. Sorry I can't see more... I am a network engineer so by default all problems look like network problems to me... Or I just blame the server guy Peter Adams FY-39604
  19. Power factor is easy. I shoot Sierra 77 grain bullets which still make minor even if they are only going 2000 fps. Out of hte 14.5 inch barrel they should be going about 2400 fps. I will chrono them later. Pat Can you show where on the comp the pinning was done. Interested in doing this myself but want to be able to use the Surefire can which fits over the brake. Peter Adams FY-39604
  20. One of the true delicacies of the South... As noted an RC is recommended for full enjoyment. Peter Adams FY-39604
  21. I haven't had any problem with the one my AR, and haven't found anything else I shoot better. (I have tried the IOR 1.1-4 the accupoint, the weaver 1-3, the millet dms, Counter Sniper Crusader 1-4 and an EO Tech with a 3x magnifier). Until I saw the above comment I had not heard of anyone who had trouble with replacement scope. I chatted with my brother, one of the guys I mentioned above that had his come up lame. Meopta told him that they had gotten a bad batch of adhesive that caused this problem... Even knowing about the problem I will still end up buying another one for one of my other ARs Peter Adams FY-39604
  22. I have seen 2 do that so far. One belongs to my brother the other belongs to one of the guys I shoot with regularly. They were both bought at about the same time. I believe what I had heard was they had a bad batch... Something about the glue used to secure one of the lenses. What I do know is that both scopes were replaced (not repaired) with no hassle. When you send your's off maybe you could ask them about it? Peter Adams FY-39604
  23. Funny thing about those 9mm/38sup mags though. The ones I have (all pre-ban both the chromed ones and the blacked ones) look like garbage but worked without having to be tuned for both 38 super and 9mm.... (of course having to re-tension the lips on the bottom of the mag so the base pad stays on without tape is a pain). I haven't seen any of the new 9mm/38sup mags do they look any better?
