  1. I have tried every factory 9mm out there and even compared them together in the same mag to see which was the softest. WWB had noticeably more recoil than the others. The Atlanta Arms and Ammo was indeed the softest but Remington UMC was just about the same and much less expensive. That is what I used for a few years until I toook the plunge into reloading. If you check the maufacturers websites as I have you will see Remington UMCs reported velocity is a little lower than the other major maufacturers and still makes 125 PF. I have had them chrono'd at many matches and it usually gives a PF around 130 out of my Glock 17.
  2. I have seen so many M&P pros lately I can't believe there aren't 2000 of them yet.
  3. For the clubs that say no ammo anywhere near the safe area. If I am to bag my gun at the safe area, what do I do with the boxes of ammo in my range bag? Am I required to take out the ammo boxes, leave them somewhere else and then retrieve them after I have bagged my gun? That's not realistic.

Can't figure out how to copy and post the pic but here is a link to a pic on Glocktalk. It's the first post. http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=949339
  5. Sold my kimber after buying a Trojan. I thought the Trojan was much better.
  6. Looks nice. Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but why the stippling on the left side of the gun above the trigger? It's not on the right side.
  7. I have a Dawson tuned STI Trojan. I have never shot it from a rest to measure accuracy but it is definately more accurate than I will ever be.
  8. Very interesting. I have heard people say that they won't use anything other than OEM because as soon as you change to something else, you have to tweak several other things as well. It would seem to me, then, that changing something as critical as the connector would inevitably lead to having to change at least a few other things. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. From what I've read and experienced, the interdependency of Glock parts mostly come from the balancing spring tensions. I've swapped through several connectors (2 Glock, Ghost, LWD) with no change whatsoever in the functioning of the gun, other than the change of the actual trigger pull. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I agree, changing connectors has always been simple, gun was completely reliable and no other changes were ever needed.
  9. I agree, Lone Wolf connectors for me. Don't know why but it doesn't feel as mushy as the Glock 3.5 connector. Just a little cleaner break.
  10. I have never, ever encountered a SO who would allow that.
  11. those would put you in ESP, but you can run a stock glock in ESP if you want.
  12. I have always used Blue Loctite for the front sight screws on all my aftermarket Glock front sights. Well now I have one front sight that keeps shooting loose. The Blue Loctite doesn't seem to hold it. I checked the screw and it doesn't seem stripped. I can try Red Loctie I guess but that is supposed to be permanent and require heat to remove. I don't really want that. What else can I try?
  13. How about something East? Both Topton (PA) and Guthsville (PA) are about an hour or so east of NYC. Guthsville shoots the 1st Sunday of the month and Topton shoots on the 3rd Sunday. Regards, Eric I think you mean west of NYC.
  14. Dutchess County has both IDPA and USPSA just a little north of the city. If you were more specific about your area it would help. www.dcpistol.org
  15. Just to update for the guys who were curious what the problem was. I had switched to my G34 for a while because I couldn't figure out why the 17 was malfunctioning. Well I took the 17 completely apart and noticed the little wire spring part on the slide stop lever was bent a little bit. I compared it with a spare I had and it was bent more at an angle. So I swapped the old one for a new one and used it at the New England regional IDPA match yesterday. Zero malfunctions through 14 stages. I guess that was it. I wonder if the slide stop was somehow riding on the slide and impeding its travel? Anyway, thanks for all the help. You guys are why this forum is the best.
  16. Back to the original question. The rule book says Carbon or Stainless steel. That means if it is not carbon or stainless steel then you are good to go. If all full length dust covers were illegal it would have just said full length dust covers. Since they were specific about material then that's what they have to abide by.
  17. Federal American Eagle 165 grain has always been the softest factory 40 ammo for me.
  18. If you want fast target acquisition, take a look at truglo's bright sights. They light up like a christmas tree in sunlight. The front sight is a little big however and I find accuracy suffers just a bit on really long shots. I also have another Glock with a Heinie/Dawson combo I use for matches with long range shots.
  19. While they can only win one gun, they can now enter the competition, subcompact and majorsub classes as well. Any wins after the first one gets you $100 per category.
  20. Too heavy and I pull shots. I like to prep the trigger on longer shots and too light it sometimes breaks before I want it to. I have settled on about a 3 lb trigger and find it just right.
  21. That would be news to a lot of us, bud. See, you have the pious platitudes about Purpose and Principles that people like to cite on the Internet, and then you have the actual rules that are (supposed to be) enforced at matches. My latest acquisition would be a fine L-10, just with the bushing barrel and short dust cover that IDPA somehow thinks are important to avoid an "equipment race." OK.........BUD
  22. OH NOOO, it's defintely not a run what you brung thing. It's basically a game for stock out of the box guns or minor modifictions only. Anything intended for competition is purposely not allowed.
  23. regular mags, factory barrel. Not shooting through a port. I have had port-insertion-itis myself before and even knocked off a front sight. But not this time. It only happens intermittently and is only a recent issue as I have said. I will check the things you guys have said and let you know. Thanks again for the advice.
