Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Right at 1 oz... Will try and get pics later on
  2. Sqeezed them Real hard...not a groan from the grips, so I must have the new style!
  3. Just getting my new to me Stock 3 up and running. Spent my initial funds on springs/guide rod and ammo. Finding the OEM grips didn't fit worth a crap, they're about 1/16" too short on both sides at the bottom near the mag well- so with the OEM Grips and the screw tight they still slip under recoil- making a 'rocking motion'. Should be something that a $900+ gun has right from the factory- contacted EAA and they said they'll exchange for a new set. Hope they're a better fit. So, in the meantime I needed some grips but was a bit short on funds. I saw a couple good comments about Copper Grips aka lavagrips.com. (NOTE I have no connection to the company, the owner and no monetary interest in them). Well, for $38 I bought a set of Copper Grips and got them 3 days later. Let me say I was extremely impressed with the 'Grippiness" of the material. In dry fire they are very very grippy. Probably not a carry grip for EDC due to that fact. One small issue I did have to take a razor blade and trim them just a bit to fit my exact Stock 3. Contacted the owner and he said that sometimes EAA specs are just a bit varied from gun to gun. He said any issues in firing to contact him and he'd make it right. So far I'm very satisfied with them and will try and report back after 1k rds or so. For the price it seems these are a screaming deal. Also ordered another set right away for a 1911 at $27. So if someone is on a budget and looking for a good set try these- I don't know how they'll do after 1k, but will report back later.
  4. Just to keep the thread updated for anyone coming across it later (tried to edit but didn't see option) Running the barrel without reaming and a medium hammer spring, 16lb recoil (OEM) spring the Stock 3 digests anything thrown at it- from my old low QC Dillon 650 9mm 147gr loads to TUL Steel cased 115s and Blazer Aluminum. No issues so far. About 750 down the pipe.
  5. MM- I sure did use the video. I watched it first, then referred to it a few times to remember how to install a couple items (aka sear spring). I rushed the job as I just got my parts and punches in the day before a local shoot, so I didn't do a full polish job. But the tips from watching it all before doing it helped a lot. No real criticisms that I can think of off the top of my head. It's a great aid for re assembly too.
  6. Team, got all my new go fast goodies into the Stock 3. Did a very minimal polish job as I'm in a local fun match tomorrow, so no time to get it all sorted out. Question: I can see a lot of 'slop' or 'take up' in the engagement in SA Mode when the hammer lifts and rides back on the sear, creating a creep affect. Is there anything that can be done to the OEM Parts to get rid of this take-up? It seems there is quiet a lot of it. With the slide off you can literally see the sear slowly lifting to allow the hammer to fall. Happy with the pull weight of the trigger, but want to get that crisp wall in place. Probably stoning down the sear would help- but I'm guessing the suggestions will be to replace it and not even worry about it. Thanks all for the help so-far! (tried to upload pic, will tomorrow) Here's what has been dropped in: From Patriot: EGD Medium hammer spring Trigger spring Sear spring firing pin return spring Guide rod
  7. What is the factory recoil spring lb on a Stock 3? (in 9mm)
  8. New Stock 3 arrived and finally hit my hands. Had a couple hours to play with it, what an amazing feel. Wish the stainless would have been available, Blade Tech DOH is already scraping up the beautiful blued finish. I can see how people want more than one of these guns- they are beautiful. Makes my Glock look like cheap tupperware. I really thought it would feel much heavier but in practicing a draw/presentation it feels quite stable. Question: The SA trigger OEM is just at 4.5lbs, and I don't need much of a lighter pull- BUT it is all creep, there's no wall. I've ordered a baseline spring kit to install, will these items give me a 'Wall' for the trigger pull, or is there something else needed. Don't need less pull weight, just need a crisp-ness to the finish of the trigger pull. Here's what I'm dropping in: From Patriot: EGD Medium hammer spring Trigger spring Sear spring firing pin return spring
  9. Team What's the consensus on steel cased TULA/WOLF/SILVER BEAR ammo in the Stock 3s? AKA, for my purposes, do I need to send the barrel out for reaming before even test firing, or has the factory gotten better at reaming the chambers? (gun will have minimum baseline mods) Thanks
  10. Those videos are great. I was on the EAA Parts website and didn't see the exact one piece sear to order for a Stock 3 Did you mean any of the 1 pc sears, or do you like the one from EAA specificallly (I see PD and Henning/EGW have one piece sears listed). "Minimum suggestions" (I plan to follow the minimum parts for now to keep costs low and get into the platform) Single piece sear from EAA (Xtreme not needed) I also PM'd MemphisMechani what he thought about polishing the factory sear/hammer since many say it's 'softer metal'. I see others have the same questions so I'll ask it here as well to keep the info going. The vids and info are great, really appreciate your time to help others.
  11. Will this be the way to go for a Stock 3 as well?
  12. Just posting a hello to the forum. Getting back into Steel Matches after an absence of a few years....shot a highly modded CZ75b in USPSA/IDPA and thoroughly enjoyed that gun. Moved out of NC and didn't shoot as much, but now find I'm shooting a lot of steel matches....kicked around the idea of a Shadow 2 (of course- who hasn't they're sexy), STI Eagle, CZ SP01, 1911 SS 9mm, and after speaking to Henning finally settled on the EAA Witness Stock 3. Haven't had a chance to handle one and I know they are massive! And I prefer smaller grips....so the short trigger and thin grips will probably be a must. But what other mods do you gents suggest, or if there's a link to the 'must do' DIY mods please post it up. I do plan to shoot it stock at first and see how the EAA and I feel together. Going to be in Cocked and Locked mode for pretty much all my start buzzers so hoping that helps with the grip. Also have never shot a gun this heavy in competition- a bit apprehensive about how the gun will 'drive' in transitions on steel. Rumor has it if the worst comes to worst the dust cover can always be chopped off to save some weight! Ha Anyways, just a hello and intro!
  13. THANKS HAYWIZZLE! To expand a bit, have you seen/heard any SAO Trigger results from the new triggers and changes done by home 'Smiths? Most of the reports I've seen/heard are reporting stock Shadow 2 SA reults around 3 1/2lbs stock. Wondering if conversion to SAO will lower that any or keep it around the 3.5lbs mark.
  14. To the point: Can the Shadow 2 be carried Cocked And Locked like a 1911 in Single Action Only? Can the Shadow 2 be converted to SAO Trigger? The backstory.... I used to run a CZ75B in production for years as well as IDPA. Truth be told I got tired of the dual trigger system....right or wrong the first pull was always a PITA for me. So I changed over to the Plastic Fantastic with some Apex parts.... it didn't fit me as well but the trigger was always the same and that I liked. Flash forward a few years later, I no longer shoot IDPA/IPSC. BUT I shoot a lot of local range rules matches; which here means no divisions, run what ya brung and have fun. Lots of guys shooting against me are running 2011s. I would like to go back to the CZ now that there are some new options. The CZ TAC ORANGE looks GREAT...but it's HUGE and the ability to add a Surefire X300 to the Shadow 2 is really nice. AND it's a few hundred less than the TAC Orange and I believe the Shadow 2 will always have a good bit of resale whereas the TAC ORANGE is more of a purpose built race gun only. So wanting a SAO Platform is what I'm after. Open to your thoughts!
  15. Gents, been away a while. After the recent rule changes- What are the allowable (if any) frame mods for 'fitment' can I make to a Gen 4 G17? I'm thinking specifically an undercut trigger guard Stippling the frame Would like to stay in SSP class specifically. Also, if y'all know if those are legal for USPSA Production class I'd love to hear that as well. Thank you.
