  1. SP01 Shadow, front end of RH safety moves outward as shown in picture. This is happening during DA, particularly when using a reduced power mainspring. When this happens, hammer will not drop. Thumb pressing on LH safety helps, most of the time. Squeezing on RH safety so it stays close to slide always drops the hammer. With stock hammer spring or slightly lighter ones hammer always drop. Any thoughts what's causing this? Wear on the safety or sear cage? Or disconnector? Thanks.
  2. This is going to be a multi video process. Stay tuned for further videos. They can also be viewed on my Youtube Channel. More videos to follow shortly 3. Removing The trigger bar and trigger assembly - (SEE ABOVE FOR POLISHING) 4. Removal of stock staked trigger pin 5. Installation of CGW reduced power trigger return spring and CGW floating trigger pin 6. Reassembly 7. Testing
  3. Title pretty much says it. I just got a Tanfo Stock II and was installing the Wolff 13lb hammer spring from my Witness upgrade kit. However after a long day I had a lapse of focus and mixed up the stock hammer spring and new Wolff hammer spring so I'm not sure which one I installed/replaced. I do know that one I put in the gun with the other upgrades is longer than the other. I tried squeezing each of the springs and the longer one felt lighter i think. Gun functions perfectly. The DA pull "i think" feels lighter however it's not substantially lighter so I cant say for sure especially after mixing up the springs. Anyway can anybody help me or know their hammer springs? Any help is appreciated. I will be installing a new sear, hammer, and BOLO soon so I will have to disassemble the gun again at some point.

Longer spring is the 13lb Wolff hammer spring, I could feel the DA pull more smoothly by way of being lighter, still gritty with the factory parts and could use more polishing. With the original shorter spring, you could really feel the wall towards the back of the DA pull. Mistakes made and lessons learned.
  5. Hi all, Does anyone know what weight is the stock hammer spring on a 9mm TS? Is there any benefit to going with a lighter one? I'm thinking there's less force for the slide to overcome as it goes back, which sounds like a good thing.
  6. I have been unsuccessful trying to find a hammer spring for a S&W model 1000 shotgun. Anyone have any suggestions?
  7. Just wondering what balance points you all have found between main/hammer spring weights and specific primers, along with which mods? I found my fully polished, extended firing pin, reduced FP spring, SRS, RRK, CGW race hammer, reduced trigger return spring equipped CZ SP01 (Tactical, not that it should matter) seems to be having an occasional light strike with the 11.5# main spring. I'm saying seems at this point as I've shot one match fine, followed by a fair amount of load testing (~300+ rounds), some of which was with harder Fiocchi primers, but mostly MagTechs and some WSPs. Considering the contents of my current primer supply, I could go for quite some time on WSPs and MagTechs, but not so much if I 'needed' to go to Federals only. I had 2 light strikes out of ~300 rounds, which had good looking primer strikes, but no bang. Second strike set them off. I may need to run some more rounds through it, but wondering what you guys are seeing running lighter main springs?
  8. What is the standard hammer spring weight for an new STI Edge 40S&W? Several old BEnos threads say that a new STI Edge 40 comes with a 21 pound hammer spring. That sounds pretty heavy to me. Do new STI Edge 40's still come with a 21 pound hammer spring? What hammer spring weight do most people use on an Edge that is going to shoot major in USPSA's Limited division? My plan is to shoot 180gr Bayou bullets. I'm more familiar with DA/SA CZ Shadows where the main/hammer spring affects the trigger pull weight of the first double action shot. Seems like the hammer spring functions more closely with the guide rod spring in a single action 1911/2011. I'm eliminating the STI recoil master setup. My plan is to decide on an initial hammer spring weight and then try several different guide rod springs to find a good match.
  9. This one's been discussed a bit; someone on BE gave me the heads up, on using a Ruger 10/22 spring to replace the Mossberg 930 hammer spring. Some JMs/930s exhibit a light strike at some point, with this spring being a slightly stronger, longer, thinner replacement. I've had few issues with my JM, although I have done various amounts of polishing, replaced the follower, etc., but did have one light strike a month or so back, so decided to go ahead and replace it preemptively. I thought it might be worth throwing up a quick pic so someone who hasn't taken their 930 fully apart can see what we're talking about. Replacement spring, SKU # 16801/2/3 depending on qty, Ruger extra strength hammer spring http://www.gunsprings.com/Rifles%20%26%20Shotguns/RUGER/10-22/cID2/mID52/dID225 Removing the trigger/hammer assembly is straight forward, just drive out the pair of pins running through the receiver. You do not want to press the trigger before removing, IMO. Nearly all of the bits held into the assembly are from simple pins which push out from the left side (if shouldered) to the right, with a retaining ring on the right hand side. With the assembly in hand, remove the lifter assembly first - single large ping in the center of the pack. It has a 'tail' on it with a spring, just be careful to not lose them; it's not under significant pressure. Push the pin out, then slide the lifter assembly forward. With the assembly in your hand, put your thumb against the front of the hammer (silver at right hand side of first pic), then press the trigger, and let the hammer move forward. with your thumb. You can possibly leave the hammer in...I took mine out to clean it up while I was in there. If you do remove it, the hammer pivot pin pushed in from left to right, so is removed out the left side.. You'll see the (white on mine) hammer spring, 'cap' and a pin which put tension on the trigger. This is the spring we want to replace... It will pull right out, here it is removed. The white spring is the OE one, the inner pin/spring guide, and the cap. The lower spring is the Wolff/Ruger spring we're going to replace it with. Some have mentioned trimming the spring slightly; I ran it full length w/out issue in a match the other day, some 50-60 rounds, so unless someone gives me good reason to trim it, it's staying full length. Another pic showing the length and diameter difference. Someone with more knowledge than I can chime in here, but after cleaning out the trigger pack, I used a small amount of synthetic grease along the spring guide and on the spring 'cap,' as I generally use grease for thicker metal on metal contact..
  10. I was reading a recent thread about polishing and spring changes to reduce the trigger pull weight and one of the gurus wrote that reducing the hammer spring weight can be a short-cut to a lighter trigger in SAOs. I've never polished or switched any springs (except recoil springs- because they got weak) in my Match, but after several thousand rounds the trigger is nice and light. I don't remember exactly when it got so nice, but there's 9k rounds on the pistol. My question is whether the hammer spring has worn out. The only modification I did was Henning's flat trigger. Thanks.
  11. My Match's hammer (with the stock spring) seems to hit with more force than is necessary and I was wondering how much a lighter hammer spring would effect the trigger pull weight. Also, if I remove the firing pin block and use Win primers, what weight hammer spring should I try first?
