Steve Moneypenny
What kind of shoes do you use in IDPA, since cleats are illegal? Just wondering, i'm starting to out run my basketball shoes especially with mud!!! Steve

shred
Check into the 'light hiker' section of your local outdoor store. A couple companies (Nike for one) make nicely-lugged soles with a running shoe upper. I like mine so much I use them for IPSC, having shot all of one IDPA match. Much nicer on the feet at the end of the day.

David Olhasso
Addidas GSG-9 boots. They provide good traction on all surfaces (including concrete) and for those of use with horrible ankles, they provide decent ankle support.

Steve Moneypenny
Actually i usually wore basketball shoes, (normal street shoes) but am tired of cleaning the mudd off all the time, i have run sandals before, those worked great except when i forgot and drug in the top of my foot across the gravel. OUCH! Steve

Bugs Bunny
Since IDPA isn't supposed to be a "track & field" event I use good stout leather hiking boots with vibram soles.

shadetree
In the winter and when it's raining hard I like to wear gortex lined danner ft lewis boots. The rest of the time I use what ever happens to be near the door when I leave.
eric nielsen
I wear these in USPSA (can you guess by the name?) but they are NOT cleats and work well on wood planks, grass, sand, pebbles, mud, pretty much everything. Check the link, they are the blue ones on the bottom. http://www.outsportin.com/nike.htm They are the NIKE AIR SHASTA. If you are cheap and have a Target store, they have a copycat shoe that is NOT as comfortable, but with the same zig-zag sole with the huge square grooves. dvc - eric
