If revolver division is amended to allow 8-shot minor, then the only way to be competitive will be to use an 8 shot gun. The only matches where this may not hold true would be a match setup to be 100% 6-round neutral where each stage is setup so that all shooters, regardless of capacity, would need to perform the same number of reloads (assuming no extra shots). All the limited shooters at least years ICORE match got shown how this is true when our 8-shot guns got beat by Josh's 6-shot classic gun. Of course, the only match that might be 6-shot netural would be a revolver only nationals. So if revolver division allwos 8-shot minor guns, it will no doubt become a 627 division. Those who have 625s will either be at a significant disadvantage or have their expenssive 625s relagated to collecting dust in the safe.

I've been using a 327 TRR8 for the challenge for several years now. It is only ever fired super light steel challenge loads and continue to have no issues. When I last talked with Jerry about his steel challenge gun in early 2011, he was running a scandium frame that was rebarrelled for 38 super.

My right knee has been bad for many years now. I am trying to put off a replacement as long as possible, but it gets more difficult to delay each year. The current "knee replacement delay" program I am following is: Drop weight. Work out. Only low impact exercises on the knees. NO RUNNING. Hyalgan (sodioum hyaluronate) injections every 6 months. This regiment does seem to work. Glucosomine + MSM every day Wear a brace when doing anything athletic (anything other than walking). I use a knee skin from bioskin.

Get rid of the par times. Just my humble opinion.

In regards to the DP using locator buttons: Only the rail mount adapter has locator buttons that add any rigidity to the mounting system. All of the other mounts make use of a loose plastic piece that covers the bottom of the sight and has the male locator pins in it. The DP is held securely by the two mounting screws. The shoulders of the screws are very tight fitting to the body of the DP which in turn hold the DP securely to the mount.

So I remember it like this: I shot the stage pretty well and was confident in my shots. When we got to the infamous target, there was only 1 big .45 hole in the target. Immediately, without being asked, the RO who had been running the timer, pulled out the overlays and struggled to eventually call it two hits. One RO commented that the target had visibly moved after each shot as an answer to the unasked question as to why the overlays were being employed. Obviously there was some head shaking among the squad members, but the ROs had called it two hits, so I wasn't about to argue with them and I signed my score sheet. A member of the squad requested that the target be pulled so the range master showed up and scored that target. The RM could not find two hits in the target and called the target alpha mike. So now I was standing there among my peers with a signed score sheet that showed two hits, the RM had called it an alpha mike and likely the rest of the squad also thought it was an alpha mike. The RM gave me the following choices: 1) Keep my score sheet exactly as it was. Since it had been scored by the stage ROs and I had signed it, it was to be considered a legal score sheet. 2) Agree that the target was scored incorrectly, and request that it be changed from 2-Alpha to Alpha Mike. 3) Request a reshoot based on scoring irregularities on one target. In the end I requested a reshoot and that decision worked our really well -- NOT. After my primer disaster, I figure I lost about 45 points on that stage. With only 3 stages remaining, those lost points effectively knocked me out of the running. Taking the miss would have been a much better decision. As to what rules apply, I'm not exactly sure. I do feel that everyone involved acted completely properly. The ROs called what they believed was 2 hits, my squad mate made a judgement call and asked for the RM to review the target. The RM reviewed the target and gave me what I believe were appropriate options given the fact that my score sheet was signed. I just chose poorly.

The Delta points are fantastic. The only drawback is, I agree the small torx screws for the adjustment. My solution was to abandon the soft torx L-keys and get a quality torx driver. I opted for one by Wiha, mcmaster part number: 53415A21.

I see no reason to mess with the 10 round mag limit in production. The 10 round rule makes it easy for nearly anyone, from any state, or from any other discipline (such as IDPA SSP), to come and shoot uspsa production. If a 15 round limit were introduced, shooters from certain states would be forced to break the law to play, many of us would be forced to buy new mags and a bunch of guns currently used in production would no longer be viable including the XD 40, Beretta 40, Sig 229 40 and most any 45. I am in now way a fan of IPSC production. The trigger rules are jaded against the striker fired guns and until the 15 round limit appeared, it was an absolute arms race to get the biggest mag possible included from the factory. There is no reason for the US production rules to follow or mimic any of the IPSC production rules. I have competed in production with a couple different 40s including the beretta 96 (11 rounds), XD (12 rounds) and 4.25" M&P (15 rounds). When the 5" M&P 40sw is legal, expect to seem me with a 40 once again. Production as it is works just fine. No need to change it.

You use the factory followers with the taylor freelance basepads. You can use the factory springs and I do when I want the most capacity in the mag. If you want the slide to lock back when empty, you need to use a longer/stronger spring.

Kenny's magwells go on and off very easy. I've been using his magwells for a couple years now and they are great. My origional baspads were made by screwing delrin to a factory pad and shapping it to fit the magwell and box. Recently I had a machinist make me a batch of solid aluminum pads. Unfortunately they weigh a bit too much so the ones destined for IDPA are getting extra holes drilled into them. The SSS magwell on my 9L mates perfectly to a taylor freelance basepad for a 23+1 9mm. When the 5" 40 M&P shows up this year, I plan to add a SSS magwell and a taylor freelance extension for a 21+1 limited gun. -dave
