GOOD QUESTION

yeh my opinion is lose the front sight all together. Cleaner sight picture. You dont need all those gizmos floating around in your line of sight.
Same reason most iron sight users dump all the doodad dots on the rear sight.

I would think that the red may throw you off a bit. On the other hand green seems brighter to me so more visible.  Throw some electrical tape on there and rip it off if the optic goes down.(:

But seriously Im not an optics guy but dont know if Id cowitness with fiber if I were.

I leave my green fiber front sight in place. If I have a VERY close target array, I just blast away (usually not seeing my red dot) and use my front sight as a quick pick-up for those close in shots. And as the stage progresses, I honestly don't really see the green front sight. I see my red dot, settle on target and do my thing.

I've done it with and without. Leaving it there works for me....!

I've got two X5 Legions I use in CO, and I left the green FO front sight on both. Using a DPP 7.5 moa.  Honestly I don't even notice the front sight when shooting in competition.
