Sounds like you need to get a stronger main spring.

In my humble opinion, it has a lot less to do with the brass and way more to do with the bullet itself. First off, you are not using "match grade" bullets. Therefore you are going to have inconsistencies with the bullets. Are they coated? If yes, you are likely to have variances in the thickness of the coating. More or less coating around the ogive will lead to differences in OAL.

For what it's worth, I would get a Dillon 550. You can load around 500 rounds an hour AND you can use it as a single stage press. I load nearly 25 different calibers and have been using a 550 for over 25 years.

Add a little more tension to the middle spring on the leaf spring. Or get a Clark 4 leaf leaf spring. Worked for me.

For single stack, 5 mag pouches at a minimum. I have 6 on my SS setup.

As far as eyes going and not being able to run irons, just have a set of "MAGIC" glasses made by your optometrist. Have the dominate lens set for the sweet spot to be about 6 inches past your out stretched hand. Have the other lens set for normal distance. NO BIFOCALS! Magic glasses work. Been there, doing that.

You shouldn't need a new slide. Just rebarrel the gun you have. Might need to get a new comp. 500-700 dollars should get it done.

Swap your grip screws out with torx head screws. They are WAY better than slotted and they won't round out like Allen head.

You might not be able to run and gun, but at least take it out for some break in trigger time! Hope you get better soon.

I've always just seated them as far as they will go in. Haven't had any issues in over 35 years.

Major/Minor scoring should be allowed in every division. DVC. Accuracy, POWER, speed. If you can't handle major, stay on the porch with the puppies.

My suggestion would be to either work up a different load or replace the comp with a different one.

Wrap around glasses from Oakley and Rudy Project are really hard to beat.

I would suggest trying a bit shorter OAL. 1.165" with 6.8 in mine made 169 PF. A slight decrease in OAL can make huge difference.
