How did you end up liking the weight/balance of this bad boy with the XWF heavy open frame? I'm thinking of doing either a 5" or 5.4" build with one.

She is a heavy girl for sure...

It balance well and wield like a balance solid chunk. I need to start working out more...

And it's VERY loud!

Your gun came out BA!!! Is the builder CJ local to Atlanta? I cracked the slide on my first open gun (its an older gun), id like to get a new top end build with newer updated parts and id like to have someone local build it.

CJ is the KY, but I am sure he can help with your slide :)

@YellowShooter, did you use a full-profile Binary 3-Port comp, or the regular profile one? I like how the tri-top extends across the entire comp and the how the lines at the bottom of the comp flow into the frame.

Full profile, the Tri top was performed after the slide/barrel/comp fit and match

Awesome. I'm planning on doing the same; saw yours and was hoping you'd chime in to say it was done using a regular profile comp since they're $100 cheaper, hehe.

Pistol is looking good! What load are you going to stick with?

Excited to say I'm on the books with CJ for a similar build!

I am still playing with loads...

I make 172PF with 8.2gr of HS6 and 1.175"

I barely make PF with 10.4gr of Major Pistol at 1.165"

I'll crank it to 10.6gr of MP at 1.165" and I am hoping to see 169-170PF

What bullet are you using and which lot of SWMP? 115gr?

If you have lot 314 of SWMP, know that it shoots slower-than-normal. I have a bunch of it and am currently waiting on a response from SW to my request to exchange it for a different lot.

ahhh good to know.

Iam using 124gr Delta Precision JHP, new design.

Thank you for the info! Can you take a picture of where the lot number is found? I think mine is kinda faded lol I am not sure if I am looking at a resemblance of a lot number lol

I think its likely that you have a slow lot if its taking you 10.6gr to make PF with a 5" barrel, 2x popple holes, and a 124gr bullet at 1.165" OAL. Especially if it is a KKM barrel, as those are known to be amongst the fastest-shooting, while SV barrels are known to be slower-shooting.

The lot number is located to the right of the red "CAUTION":

The last 3 digits indicate the lot number. I believe the different lot numbers in circulation as of recent are 314, 514, and 115.

@SeattleDude was able to get his 314 lots exchanged for 115 lots. I'm trying to do the same, but I have yet to hear back after a week; sent a followup email 2 days ago so hopefully I get a response tomorrow.
