wanttolearn
Hi, i have a 6 inch slide 9mm 1911 with a proper EGW 9mm ejector (longer than the .45 ejector). I've changed the front angle to no avail, i've shortened it a bit to no avail, i've tried a couple of different strength recoil springs with only a little improvement. Wondering if there is a systematic way to go through this process? With the current recoil spring the cases are ejected backward apx 3 feet. jcc7x7
The extractor is the issue with brass to the forehead! Tighten it up and cases will start going out to the right.
zzt
If the extractor tightening does not fix the issue, have someone watch as you shoot. The case may hitting the port and bouncing up. If that's the case, shorten the ejector some more. BTW, I use EGW ejectors and they leave the front really, really long.

Davidp1911
Extractor maybe be loose, bend to tighten. Check your ejector angle too.
APL-G35
Yep check the extractor first. If you saw a model of where the ejector hits the rim you wouldn’t spend much effort trying to “adjust” it.
wanttolearn
Hi, sorry for the delay...it's been a crazy busy week. i hope these photos help. I think the extractor tension is pretty good and the angle/position of the engagement to the cartridge looks similar to what i'm seeing in the textbook. https://i.imgur.com/H2lOiac.jpg[/img] https://i.imgur.com/Zdz0Cmd.jpg[/img] https://i.imgur.com/Ylof8HD.jpg[/img]
Davidp1911
I would start with replacing the ejector and test fire, see how it ejects.
mike4045
Check the Brazos custom site. He used to have info on there for tuning the extractor and ejector.

The OP's ejector doesn't appear to have any angle cut into the face of the it. This would be something I would address first.
rooster
I have an old Ed Brown 1911 manual and the way he shaped an extractor was lay a straight edge along the back of the magwell, scribe a line on extractor and file to that, then file about a 45 angle on the right side. This worked for me and leaves room to eject a live round.
