1eyedfatman
I've been shooting the CZ Custom Shadow and love it. Also have a G34 and XDM 5.25 which I'll work in here and there. I shoot IDPA, USPSA, Steel, 3gun/multigun. I've shot the Shadow in SSP/Production starting with the DA trigger and can't say I'm a big fan of that and do prefer to come off safety in ESP. And it is quite a change going from manually decocking/prepping the trigger to working the safety on the draw and going SA. So I'm halfway thinking of going G34 SSP/Production and Shadow ESP. For the P09, I'd pretty much have to run it the same as my Shadow I imagine. Has anyone tuned down that DA pull on the P09 to something like 4 lbs? Given the P09 has a decocker, if one could reduce that DA pull down to the 3.5-4lbs range, decock the hammer down (instead of using the safety) and then just draw and shoot it like a G34 with a nice trigger, would that give you a good SSP/Production pistol without a heavier DA trigger pull? emjei
I started the CZ family with an SP01 Tactical (decocker) and change it to a Shadow because of the Short Reset....... I really like the half cock DA pull the Tactical provided but it didn't have the short reset in SA.... Thats something to consider
zhunter
P-09's come NIB with the safety. It is NIB configured for the decocker, just install the safety and you're good to go. Youtube is your friend

Joe L
I have two P-09's, each with the CGW parts. I don't think you will see the DA below about 6 lbs. My problem with using the safety and holstering cocked and locked is that the safety is a little forward in the gun and I have to release it with the weak hand. The P-09 owners I know are extremely happy with the accuracy. Here is a video I made at 200 yards with mine. I have shot several sub 5" groups at 100 yards with this gun, so I decided to try it at 200, once. From a rest, this pistol is as good as anything I have shot. Second one is just as good. http://youtu.be/Jx9A1KbeTBw Here is one a 100 yards. http://youtu.be/eYhzt7htK1s I never thought I would see this kind of accuracy from a plastic gun. Not concerned any longer. I use this P-09 in bullseye matches. I am at 9k rounds through it so far. The other one is an IDPA ESP gun. Joe

eerw
P09 is a good platform. very affordable. I have done an action job, sights, some grip texturing on mine and it has been an awesome shooter so far.
BeerBaron
joe, that is some awesome shooting! great endorsement for this pistol. and I have to say CZ really nailed the styling of the thing. it would have to be the best looking plastic gun on the market. P.E. Kelley
FWIW I think it is an impressive pistol right out of the box...
Magsz
It gets even better with a little bit of trigger love! The SA reset is a little on the long side.
eerw
The SA reset is a little on the long side. The way the Omega trigger system is set up. Even with short reset parts there is still a fair bit of trigger movement.
Joe L
Patrick--great set of out of the box videos! We don't have any steel matches locally so I've never even tried them. We put up some steel in IDPA matches occassionally and that is it... I think I will stick with bullseye... Thanks again, Joe
Magsz
The SA reset is a little on the long side. The way the Omega trigger system is set up. Even with short reset parts there is still a fair bit of trigger movement. Yes but halving the stock mechanical reset distance with short reset parts DOES make a difference, at least for me. bmiller
Stopped by the lgs, they had a p 09 in the case. I handled it, WOW! Started thinking about which guns I could sell to buy this one. And I don't even like double action pistols.

Joe L
These guns are good, as long as the ergonomics are good for you. Here is a short video from today at 100 yards. Really good 4 shot group. http://youtu.be/geZfj_PNVb4 Here is one from another target from today. I can usually hold 6" group if the wind isn't too bad. This one is 4-1/4" for 5 shots. http://youtu.be/jBky9M2ZR_0 I can't believe this is possible with a $460 gun plus a red dot and some (CGW) trigger parts. Mechanically, the gun is excellent. I have a second one that is just as good. Joe
bmiller
Joe, you are not helping! I do not need another pistol! Just kidding, that was great shooting!
