My 1st attempt at stipple/painting a 2011 frame

Bought an airbrush and necessary accessories. I was inspired by Kgunz11 at this thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=107156

Two coats of satin clear coat and cured in an oven for four hours. Green painters tape has not been removed. While I was doing them, I did a set of Sig 229 grips that I had laying around, even though I don't own one.

I had my slide hardchromed. I pick it up tomorrow. I'll try and get a before and after pic up.

BTW, my primary Div. is Revo. :)

Opinions or suggestions?

Looks good, how many hours did you have invested?

Counting cleaning the airbrush between color changes and not counting the drying time between coats of paint and clear and 4 hours in a drying booth, about 5 hours of actual labor. This including the stippling and painting.

Edit to add: This does not include the time it took to get the paint off of me.

Curious how much the airbrush and accessories set you back. I have been thinking about doing the same thing, but I want to know if it is worth the investment.

Airbrush was 70 on ebay

Paint was about 30 (enough paint to do at least 50 grips)

Can of satin finish clear coat- 5

Airbrush cleaner- 20 on ebay (not a necessity)

Small air compressor- 70 at harbor freight (compressed air in a can will do)

Another 30 for woodburning iron if you want to stipple it.

That looks really cool. The clear coat doesn't negatively effect your grip or anything right?

And the clear coat holds up fine against typical solvents and such?

Once it cured, I didn't even notice it. Are we suppost to clean em? :)

It holds up fine.

Excellent. I might have to give this a try sometime.
