ZackJones
I'll soon be jointing the M&P owner's club when my .40 Pro gets delivered to my FFL and I take delivery from him. I'm planning to use this pistol for USPSA and Steel Challenge Production Division shooting. I've used Blade-tech holsters in the past and will probably go that route for this pistol but I'd be interested in hearing your recommendations for holster and mag pouches. I need to re-read the production Division rules but I'd also be interested in knowing what production-legal modifications you've done to your M&P. JupiterAdam
I run a 9mm M&P Pro 5" in production using the standard BLADE-TECH Outside the Waistband (OWB) holster with the DOH and a sting ray belt loop (works well with a CR Speed belt). Good retention and easy to draw from. I also use the CR Speed mag pouches. As for mods, I installed a SSS Tungsten Guide rod with 14lb Wolff spring and have a Custom trigger job by Pedro Ortiz (Savannah, GA) - 3lbs, less take up, very little over travel and short reset. Hope that helps. Best of luck, Adam.
horseman
Accurate Irons fine stippled back strap was probably the best money I spent when coupled with strip of grip tape on the forward edge of the grip.
ZackJones
Thanks for the feedback. As luck would have it Pedro shoots at our club. I'll talk to him at the next match. I'm looking forward to shooting it.
HI5-O
My Production rig for the M&P is Ready Tactical holster and pouches, I like it. The Blade Tech is good too. As for mods, I did the Apex (comp) set-up (sear/USB/springs), except for the trigger, to stay Production legal.
bigfish
Bladetech holster and cr speed pouches. Also even though you are shooting a .40 all guns declare minor power factor in production division. Might want to load some .40 minor
ZackJones
HI5-O: Thanks for the recommendation for Ready Tactical. I haven't heard of them before so I'll check them out. I was looking at the Apex kits and was thinking about this one (https://apextactical.com/store/product-info.php?pid36.html) if it's production legal, that is. bigfish: Good point about power factor. I bought the 40 over the 9 so I could load minor loads for production or major loads for L10 or Limited if I decide to shoot in those divisions. I'm picking up a case of .40's from Bayou Bullets next week and will use those for my loads.
Dustysa4
The Apex DCAEK and CAEK are production legal so long as you retain the stock trigger. And unless something has changed since this ruling (http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-NROI-ruling-details.php?indx=49), it appears that the Apex RAM is also production legal...? The RAM is completely internal, so yes it is production legal.
Sarge
Another vote for Ready Tactical. Their pouches anyway.
Bluemooncricket
Double Alpha has a new production division oriented holster that looks promising (http://www.doublealpha.biz/ipsc-holsters-rigs/holsters/pdr). I bought a ready tactical a couple of months ago and have been very satisfied with it. I might have purchased the DAA holster had it been available then. ZackJones
Thanks for the added information. My FFL emailed me today and said he has the pistol waiting for me when I get back in down. This next week is going to drag by for me .
bigfish
I would also recommend Dawson sights. the factory front sight is kind of a wide and covers up a lot of the target
jeremy kemlo
Ready tactical for holster and mag pouches. I love mine. Apex aek trigger kit (production leagal ) apex ram. I also really like the warren tactical sights. Fiber optic front and the rear blade that looks like bunny ears.
ZackJones
I checked out Ready Tactical's pouches and right now their web site only shows pouches for left handed shooters in stock . I'm picking the pistol up this weekend. I can't wait to get it.
iswope
I run my M&P Pro .40 5" with a BladeTech setup that works really well. For the money, BladeTech makes a really good competition product.
ZackJones
Does most everyone use single mag pouches for production? If so how many do you usually use? I'm thinking a minimum of 4?
Dustysa4
I use 2 of the Blade Tech double mag carriers in production (4 mags on my belt + 1 in the pistol). Edited February 24, 2014 by Dustysa4
