aimpoint why micro

I have a T1 in Larue mount and an M4s in Larue mount.

I love both of them, but if I were still shooting in Tac-Irons/Limited, I would still be shooting my M4s. I like the larger window and am faster with it. With the T1 and trying to be fast, I perceive the window as being small and my confidence is lower compared to running my M4s where the window I'm looking through seems massive and the dot just pops up for me.

because its what travis haley and chris costa run....seriously, before magpul dynamics nobody ran them like they do today.

go on to any fanboy site and everyone there is running it cause haley, and costa run them.

i have a love/hate going with the T1...i like the size, but i hate that i dont have ANY lens cover options at all.

full grown men complaining about the added weight of an standard aimpoint on top of a 7.5" sbr is beyond laughable....

Try the new IO Aimpoint micro cover. It's a cover like those for the larger Aimpoints, but with built in covers...

While I have never been in Afghanistan but a friend of mine has and he keeps telling me that over there ounces are pounds and he is a pretty fit guy. Also why carry more weight than you need if it gives you no advantage. I prefer the micro for that reason and will never buy a full size red dot again probably.

Actually there are several things that are different between the 2. I actually researched it. But the biggest to me is the actual body. T1 is maid much stronger.

Actually according to an Aimpoint rep the two are identical except for the lens coating to protect night vision devices. They also warranty the T model for going deeper in the water but both are made tot he same specs but if you happen to ruin your T1 scuba diving your covered but not with the H1.

That's what I see as the listed differences right there. I had also heard from an Aimpoint rep different than what they put up on their website apparently. So either the rep didn't know the differences, or didn't care to explain them, or the somebody's wrong.

Speculation on my part follows -- It is possible that the T-1's are simply NV capable and "certified" to toughter stats, then marketed accordingly because that's what LE/MIL would want, while civilians don't necessarily care about that stuff and would want a slightly cheaper product.

H1 and T1 both have the same surface finish. Aimpoint discontinued the semi-gloss finish on the H1 a few years ago and went to matte finish across the board...

Mick

Are you thinking of the R-1 with the silver finish? Or do you mean a glossy black finish because I haven't seen one like that.

Nope, I have a silver R1 from when Midway blew them out for $299.

When the H1 first came out, it was in a semi gloss black finish, while the T1 was a matte black.

Aimpoint later went to the same matte finish on both H1 and T1.

So yes, older H1 units have a shiny black finish...

I have absolutely no real facts on the issue but this is exactly what I suspect and tend to believe.
