Hard to beat the Smith V-Tac. Can easily be set up for Open or Tactical, JP trigger, Viking handguard and lifetime warranry.

For that price you could almost get the real thing, a JP15 with all the low mass go fast parts and a comp.

I am thinking about getting a rifle for some 3-gun, multi-gun games. I'd like to get an AR that has a good basic multi-gun set up that I can install improvements over time. Any suggestions?

Call Jim, at Firebird Precision. He'll give sound advice and build a good rifle that won't need "improvements".

I echo the "call Jim at Firebird" post. There is a lot to be said for being able to call the guy that puts your gun together on the phone, if you ever have any questions. You don't talk to the salesman or the business partner or the boss, you talk with the guy that is building your rifle directly. http://www.firebirdprecision.com

I bought a ready to go JP15 upper and used a lower I built up myself. I run a UBR and a JP trigger group and it has been absolutely flawless...I don't have my records in front of me but I recall having around 500-600ish rounds thru it so far. Building up your own lower is a great way to save some cash that you can then put towards a really good upper
