CocoBolo
The most import factor in a match barrel is the Gun Smith that fits the barrel to the gun, otherwise there isn't much difference.
The_Vigilante
I asked Scott Springer of Springer Precision this question and he likes Barsto.

Lee G
I had Springer Precision install a Barsto in my XD9 and couldn't be happier. It's way more accurate than my capability at the moment.
1911vm
I called SA on Friday in custom shop. I spoke to Deb she was very helpful. She tould me there suggesting the SA mach barrel. She said they are not seeing an accuracy difference between that and barsto barrel. And they expect 2in @ 25y. For $
Jman
Why aftermarket? Are OEM XD barrels ruining scores or ? Just curious. Jim
oldtrooper
I agree that Barsto is good but for the last few years Kart has proved best for me, fitted by a good smith of course.

Jim I am planning on shooting maches out to 25 and 50 yards . and the difference between 3 1/2 and 2in gun can be huge .

speedjunkie
I had the Springfield Custom Shop fit me a Barsto barrel. Very pleased with it's accuracy and I think their prices are VERY reasonable for the work being done.
1911vm
To both of you what does very happy and pleased with accuracy Mean? In numbers, like 1.5in @25 thanks
Wilson
Has anyone Ransom-tested the various barrels? KKM makes the most accurate barrels for the Beretta 92 Hardball guns. They shoot 2"@50yds, no problem. As they should, being $2500.00 pistols. They are also very forgiving with ammo. The Bar-Sto's tend to be ammo picky for ultimate accuracy. The guys at KKM told me last year that the XD barrels are in the works.
pjb45
I have Kart, Schuemann, and Nowlin barrels in my other guns. All were fitted by known pistolsmiths. All shot 1 inch or less at 25 yards. My stock STI Trojan shoots 1.25 inches or less at 25 yards. Scott did the original work on my XD, if and when I replace the barrel, I will have him do it with the barrel of his choice. bkjunk
I was pretty happy with my Bar-Sto, that is until the lug seared off this afternoon. I emailed Scott Springer, who did the install, and he said they had a recall on the XDM 9mm barrels and that I should contact them for new barrel and fitting. I called them but they only work mon - thur. I also used the "contact us" link on their web site, it said to wait 3 weeks for a response, yikes. bkjunk
I had the barrel installed in March 2010. Not sure when the recall was. Scott just said that BarSto had a recall on the XDM 9mm, because they had a clearence issue on the front lug.
Loves2Shoot
This area in yellow needs to be relieved, as it can bind on the larger head of the XDM guide rod. If you have one that looks like the one in the photo, it needs to have this area relieved so it doesn't bind and snap the lug.
