  1. I agree. S&W has no QC anymore. Ask Apex how many nightmares they've seen from S&W.
  2. I have a 4" and a 6". Both heavy enough that they don't move at all. Ported guns are fun. More to clean, though.
  3. Pachmayr makes them for S&W. Unfortunately you have to get them directly from S&W.
  4. You might try the http://smith-wessonforum.com/forum. I would think at least $1000.00 each.
  5. I did what AlphaShot did. I brought my guns to the doctor's office and spent some time finding the right lenses. Worth every penny.
  6. Sage advice. Yesterday, I followed Jerry's Trigger Job video, installed a 13lb. rebound spring and a Wolff reduced power mainspring. I kept the factory strain screw. Great results. I took it to the range today and it only fired 2/3's of the factory Federal ammo I used. I tried it with and without new moon clips. Same results. I re-installed the factory mainspring and an 11lb. rebound spring. It feels better than stock, but not nearly as nice as it was. I'll re-test next week. This is on a newer 686 Plus 7-shot. It came stock with a ribbed mainspring. Does S&W make/use different strain screws for use with the ribbed mainspring?
  7. I would buy one of those .38/9mm revolvers if you decide to make them available for sale.

    Two Eyes Open

No. I've done it for years without side effects. Maybe concentrating so hard for such a long period would cause it.
  9. I agree. I use the palest yellow lens in my Pilla glasses. I also have an anti-glare coating on them.
  10. You experimented and figured out what works for you. I think you are on the right track. I agree. I'm right eye dominant, but my left eye is much stronger. I found a great opthamologist and had my shooting glasses made with different prescriptions for each eye.
  11. I've decided on a 22/45. I've shot 1911's for so long, I prefer the 1911 grip frame.
  12. I have black sights,(Patridge front, square notch rear) on all my guns. I tried the F/O,W/O,V-Notch,bead,etc. I find anything else distracting. Could be just what I'm used to. I have no problem shooting a dot.

    8 shot...

Skip the Taurus. You'll wind up buying a 627 anyway. They're out there, but not for usually less than $1000.00 for a new PC627. More like $1100-1200.
  14. Not much difference from recoil, but it makes it a little louder for the timer:) Good point about the noise. I have a Springfield 4 inch V-10 XD-40. That little guy is LOUD,especially with duty ammo. Nice big flames, too. I had a comp on my Marvel at one time. I hated cleaning it.
  15. I agree about the PC versions. Not worth the extra $$ to me either. They look good, though. Prices are regional. You can't touch a 625 for under $800.00 around here. California's are probably the highest. There's an excellent tutorial on how to buy a used S&W revolver on the Smith Wesson Forum. It's worth a look. If you decide you don't like it,there's a ready market for it.
  16. Thanks for the great tips. I was never sensitive enough to notice much of a difference the comp made on a .22.
  17. You could use a flip-up occluder like the B-E shooters. They come in white or black. Works like a dream. If you have prescription glasses,it makes it easier to read, load mags, etc.
  18. I'll shoot 20 rounds for a CF pistol and 30 in my Marvel. I don't want to make 50 yard shots with a clean bore. Probably don't need that many for CF, just want to make sure it works when the match starts. I have seen POI changes with a clean bore. My Marvel needs a little fouling to work reliably. After that, I clean it at 300 rounds.
  19. Thanks for the input. It's much appreciated. It was a good reminder for me to check forum vendors.
  20. I'm going to build a 22/45. Where are the best places to get stuff for it? Thanks.
  21. I had an upside down primer in a box of .45 ACP Ranger SXT. No big deal-just the ammo I was issued for my duty gun. Good thing I checked it before loading that mag.
  22. It's the seller's stuff, they can ask any price they want. Usually, when the items don't sell, the seller adjusts the price. My 2 cents.
  23. I would also like to know. Thanks.
