Waitlist Number and Slot?

Hi everyone, just dealt with the USPSA website kicking me out 3 times, but still signed up for the Limited waitlist at number 72. What did you get and how was your experience?

18th for the L10 (my son has better reflexes than me).

I am on the list for Production, but the system, while it gave me the email confirmation, won't tell me where I am on the list for the 2nd match.

Now we wait...

How to get your pin when you have no front sight copy handy?

We already thought of that :).

The waitlist may be accessed via a "top and center" link on www.uspsa.org that does not require any password.

I'll look into his after things calm down, but I am not going to touch working code at this critical time. Your classification record will display where you stand on the list.

Ah, the system updated when I logged back in just a couple minutes ago. It now has a second notation putting me at #42 on the LPR.

Thanks for being so vigilant, Rob, but the software, seems she's a cookin'.

Payment was intentionally disabled for the first hour of the list to avoid the extra load of the credit card service making the callback to the USPSA server. Rest assured - your place on the list was locked in before you paid.

Requested info for the first hour of the waitlist:

Interesting.

351 people registed the first day.

142 / 40% within the first hour and 178 / 51% within the first 3 hours.

Of that first hour 77 of 142 / 54% in the first 5 minutes.

Lots of people quick on the refresh in the browser.

My understanding is that, whatever slots are declined from those offered individually and those returned from the sections will be offered to those at the top of the list. If those on top turn them down, accept but don't pay, or change their minds later, their slots get reoffered to those next on the list. The process continues until all the slots are accepted and paid for, and even then last minute cancellations will open up a few slots (eta: which is why walkups have usually been available).

Those high up will hear back fairly soon (next few weeks, I think). The hard waiting is for those further down the list, who have to wait for the first replies, or the second, or third. I know somebody whose wait list # was 150 something and he got into last year's Open Nats in September, but there's no way of predicting how it will go this year.

Can you give us a rough idea of how many slots are available for the waiting list in each division? Thus if my number on the list is close to or less than the number of slots offered, I can be reasonably sure it's safe to ask for the vacation time now :)

I have no special information, sorry. I only have my own and my friends' experiences to go on, and that is only for last year's match. Previous years I got one of my club's slots and section slots.

I have no idea how many slots are actually unclaimed at this point - I'm not even sure Sedro Woolley has that info (some may pay, and then have to cancel after the deadline, for instance). I remember folk's position numbers changing quickly in the first month or so, but slower as the match got closer.

I'm pretty sure that there's no problem for the first few dozen hearing fairly early that they're in (I'm planning on taking the time, and am making reservations already). I don't know anybody's experience with a lower position other than my friend's, and he heard late and was given one of the last slots (#443 out of 450, I think).

While each year will vary, you might check last years slots thread for at least a sense of how it might go. Check about post #110 on. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78893&st=100
