  1. Now I can see them. Strange place for a crack.
  2. My SDB frame broke. Dillon immediately gave me an RMA, and said to send everything I so they could update/referbish it (good ole Dillon). Anyone know what the turn-around time is? I've got a spare one, so I'm not in a rush. I am just curious.
  3. Were any of them a large framed Tanfoglio? Nope, which is why I posted this topic Oops.. sorry, I'm half asleep. Ramiro Reyes had a 9mm Gold Team that he said he had working. I almost bought it from him, but it didn't work out. His BE user name is ReyesR. I think he was moving to CA last year, and might not be online because of a vocation change or something...
  4. Were any of them a large framed Tanfoglio?
  5. Where'm I supposed to be looking?
  6. Not everyone agrees. Check the Front Sight coverage of the nationals. Most recently, 9mm was only 21-24% in open. However, this is up significantly from last year, which was less than 7% (I think). Double check my numbers with the data, but the point is that 38 super is still the favorite.
  7. Thanks Rob! I just sent email to Sean. My safety used to move pretty freely between the stops. It was pretty easy for me to bump it enough to engage. Now that I've increased the detent, there is a much more positive position for on and off. I'll take a look at the safety/sear timing, as you suggest, and see if it will make any additional improvement. Of couse, this is all a trial-and-error effort. I need to got shoot it enough to 'forget' about the problem, then see if it happens again...
  8. Against my better judgement, I took a file to the detent hole. I was going to use a dremel, but decided that taking off a little at a time was best. It feels like I significantly increased the 'engauge' force, but did not change the 'disenguage' force. Adding this to the prevous mods I made to the safety, I have hopes it will stay off while shooting. We'll find out next Thursday (my regular practice day).
  9. Now that's a good idea. My only fear is I'd take the material off, I can't easily ad it back. I'll have to have a good hard look at this idea...
  10. Yea, I already tried trimming a bunch off the Gold Team safety. It still isn't working for me. I think I need the safety paddle to be on-axis, not offset like the gold team safety. Here's what I tried: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry763375
  11. I desperately need a new safety for my Gold Team. The standard Gold Team safety (lowered and extended version) does not work for me. I really need to get it installed, fitted, and tested before the Area 1 match (June 27th). I think the 'extended' version would be perfect for my hand/grip. However, Henning is out of stock. I'm going to try directly from EAA on Monday. I've located a safety from Rich at Canyon, which is a 'take-off' from the Elite Match. My questions are: Which safety is on the Elite Match? Is it the 'extended' version? (see the pics below) Does anyone have an extended safety (ambi or non-ambi) they would sell me? Elite Match out-of-the-box Picture of 'extended' safety
  12. I love the CED with the belt clip. It hangs upside down and swivels up so you can see the screen. The display is awesome! It has lots of good info and is easy to read. Unless you have to have the built-in Chrony, I would get the CED.
  13. Thanks! I keep pushing the gold team safety on while shooting. I'm hoping the extended one, that is more inline (rather than offset) with the pin will fix the problem. Short thumbs are sometimes a pain...
  14. Hi Diann, I just placed an order, invoice number 586. I didn't know I needed the safety until tonight. With the Area 1 match in a few weeks, I'm worried about getting it installed and fitted in time. If you can, please send it as soon as possible. Thanks! Jeff
  15. I can't find one it on Henning's web page... where?? Never mind, found it.
  16. Armscor 38 super comp is out of stock right now in the USA. I've got 2500, and they work fine. Only on 2nd loading, so don't know how many they'll take. Note that this brass is NOT compatible with the Dillon Square Deal B shell plate!!!!
  17. Their software is very good. I've drawn up several gun related parts. The problem is two-fold. First, they estimate costs based on setup and programming times for CNC type tools. Second, they do favor volumes. The first part is extremely expensive, but after quantities of 20-30, the cost is more reasonable. Many of the parts I've drawn up are simple and straightforward enough that a standard machinist could make them in 30 minutes, and are well within the capabilities of a home-shop.
  18. It may depend on what followers you are using. I am using Grams followers I bought from Henning. I decided to keep the factory slide stop so I could manually lock the slide open, but didn't want it to lock open on an empty magazine. I spent a lot of time looking at where the slide stop and magazine follower interact. With the grams followers, there was very little contact. The slide stop DID NOT stop the follower from moving fully to the top of the magazine. In fact, the follower did not completely push the slide stop all the way up. I trimmed about 3/32" (2-3mm?) from the bottom of the slide stop where it was touching the magazine. Now, my slide does not lock back with an empty magazine, but I can push the slide lock up with my finger. Hope this helps...
  19. I'm running 200gr plated Ranier RN, 1.25 OAL, with 5.2gr of Titegroup.
  20. Whoa! Didn't know about these. How fast are they traveling? Could I use them for speed steel?
  21. Thanks! Now I keep looking around the shop, saying "What can I use it on next?" I've resisted the temptation so far. If I had known how much better then AC powered ones are, I would have thrown away that cordless one years ago!!
  22. What if your range bag gets 'swabbed' and sniffed by that funny machine in security?
  23. Did some work and think I fixed my problem: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65776
  24. I've been having some trouble with my safety. I've got a new Tanfoglio Gold Team. The 'standard' safety is extended out and down. Additionally, it is offset below the pin (axis of rotation). I have a short thumb, and it rides on the safety, touching only the rear half. Pushing forward on the bottom rear of the safety tends to rotate it upward, which is what would happen as I was shooting. If I had a longer thumb, it would rest more on top of the safety, keeping it off. So, I decided to fix the problem. I've been using a slow and underpowered cordless Dremel type tool. I haven't had much luck with it, making things ugly and ragged. Today I broke down and spent $30 on a real AC powered Dremel. Whoa, baby, now we're cutting! Using a combination of cutting wheels, stones, polish, and a wire brush, I fixed my safety. I cut, trimmed, polished, and brushed the unwanted part. I am very happy with the results, except the final finish. The rest of the safety is matte and brushed. After polishing, I tried to brush it to match, but couldn't get decent brush marks. I probably need a different wire brush with more bite. Pics:
  25. Actually, color inkjet Total Cost of Ownership is much less than color laserjet. Just don't buy one of those super cheap inkjets. They artifically limit you to buy the most expensive ink supplies. If you pay a little more for an 'office grade' inkjet printer, you can get the XL supplies that have more ink/dollar. ISO is working on a page yield specification that will soon standardize the testing that determines the number of pages you can print with an ink or toner cartridge. It will be more readily aparent that the cost of ink is less than toner once the testing is standardized.
