  1. I think Mike would rather show you his package than tell you about it. Mike worked on my shotgun and I love it but thank god he never offered to show me his package
  2. David Baldacci "The Innocent" A very good read.
  3. I had my shotgun worked over by Mike Cyrus @ Accurate Arms. His work is top notch just as I assume Tarans work would be. I have shot with Taran( actually we shot the same match at the same time and he kicked my A## but them I am not alone in that regard. I have had a few business dealings withe him (buying and selling stuff) and have always found him to be honest and up front with me. If I did not already have my M2 I would definetly give him a shot. He knows what it takes to make a shotgun run.
  4. I have used an 11-87 for years in open and tac -ops. They were built by Jp. If I kept them clean (before every match) I did not have a problem. If you are not going to shoot a lot of matches a year I do not think you will have any problems, but they have to be clean, no exception. I have not 3-guned recently but I recently geared up to start shooting again. I purchased a Benelli M2 and sent it to Mike @ Accurate Iron. I did not replace my 11-87 because it wasn't reliable I replaced it because I like to buy new guns........ No I ment to say that my 11-87 compared to my buddys Benelli was 2 lbs heavier. (But I do like to buy new guns) Now I just have to get off my butt and start shooting again.
  5. The correct way creates a parallax problem. I changed mine from regular to sideways. My only problem is I shoot right handed and am left eyed dominant. I can shoot an open gun wiht both eyes open but every once in a while my let eye will focus on the rear of the c-more and then the dot disappears. Once that happens and you realize it closing the left eye gets me back in sync. Nothing is perfect. I just prefer to be able to hit a target at a distance with out using Kentucky windage.
  6. I used a flat screw driver and scraped it off. Then I stippled the grip. I prefer stippled to Scott grips or grip tape.
  7. 8.81lbs. It is a jp ctr 02 with an 18 inch bbl. and a jp 15 lower. It is topped with a S&B short dot in a larue mount. I purchased a Professional Ordnance with compitition in mind. it tips the scales at 5.22 pounds with a cheap 1.5 to 5 power scope. I learned early on that I prefer a little heavy to a little to light.
  8. In Central Ca. we have a few matches that we can go to locally. Piru has a match monthly for $40 its a great match from what I hear. Five dogs also puts on a great match. I am starting to get back into 3-gun(Multigun) again so I am looking for matches to shoot locally. You do not need a big match to enjoy Multgun. You just need a match. I always had fun going to major matches, did not go to a lot but had a blast at the ones that I attended. It was never about the prize table but I always enjoyed taking my turn. I always hated prize table that were dispersed with random draw. I always thought that Hard work and dedication should be rewarded! I appreciate all the people that put on matches and RO them. They work their A@@'s or so we can have fun. My goal at my level always has been to not get DQ'd and have fun. If I did that I was golden.
  9. Excuse my ignorance. What is a surecycle system?? For what gun?
  10. I competed with a JP open 11-87 for years they had the jpoint melted in to the rib on the barrel. I used a raised comb stock to fix the cheek weld. It worked very well.
  11. I did it the easy way. I bought my 9mm upper from JP They have a complete upper and all the other things you will need. Earlier 9mm were not reliable this one is. It is a blast to shoot and works every time. It shoots minor loads, silver tips and my open 9 loads.(170pf in the pistol and 191pf in the carbine.) What a hoot to shoot
  12. I have them on most of my rifles you just have to have the correct tools with you at the match no problem. I started using these when I was changing uppers and I do not like any movement between the upper and lower. Then when i purchased the jp's they came with them. All things being equal if the upper and lower were tight I would prefer a regular take down pin.but
  13. This conversation was originally started in '94 by the Clinton administration. I didn't think it made any sense then and I still don't. If you want limited mag capacity you could always move to California. Most rifle stages that I have ever shot always present ample opportunities for a mag change while moving.Evey weapons system has limitations. Pistol the mag capacity is approximately 20 rounds. Shotgun is 8 to 10 rounds and rifle 30 plus. I do not understand why we want to artificially try to level the playing field in mag capacity. IMO we are looking for a solution to a non existent problem. We need a poll.
  14. As I recall the term tactical optics was used to differentiate between military scopes and sporting scopes in SOF matches. It allowed the people with less than perfect eyesight to compete with the younger crowed. I purchased my first trijicon so that I could compete. I first started mono podding during these matches. I notice that the military over in the sand box use bi-pods and I am sure they use the highest mag capacity that they can get. As I have heard before from a Police officer "it ain't tactical if they are not shooting back'. In shooting your are taught to get the most stable position you can get why would you want to outlaw that? Everyone is capable of bipoding so it is not an unfair advantage just an intelligent solution to a problem.
  15. From brother, May he rest in peace. We are all going to Die. You just don't want to die stupid!
  16. I just got in from telling the kids to get off of my lawn, so keep that in mind. I already bit the bullet and purchased a S&B short dot 5 years ago I think it is the perfect scope for tac ops. I could never hold any more than a 4 power steady enough to hit anything unless I was prone. I finally realized that you can't purchase a win, that takes knowing your equipment and practice. And besides I'm retired so I can't afford it anyway.
  17. It won't, the only problem you will have is cleaning the extension tube if you want to. I have a 21 inch m2 now but I ran a similar set up on an 11-87.
  18. I had the same problem with my 9mm edge. It smoothed out after 1000 rounds or so. My 4 lb trigger pull went down to 3 lbs also.
  19. In 1997 When I purchased my 1st Sti in .40 cal. I had the same problem The person I talked to (who shall remain nameless) told me to send them back to him and he would fix them or I could Take a brass hammer and tap on the feed lips against a concrete floor, using a caliper making sure they measured .385?.( it has been along time so i do not know if that is the exact measurement) because that was what he was going to do. I "fixed them" and they worked perfectly. We have come a long way in tuning mags.
  20. I have had two JP Ta-01 on my open rifles. I used a J-point @11:00 It was a great set-up. I am now shooting Tac-optics and I find the S&B short dot is the answer. I do not use an auxillary iron sight on my Tac-op rifle, it does not work as well as a dot site for me. Unfortunately I had to sell the Ta-o1s and my Ta-11 to fund the S&B.
  21. I thought that having more than one sight put you into Open. I could well be wrong because not all competitions follow the same rules. More than one OPTICAL sight puts you in open. Most matches allow an unlimited # of iron sights in any division. I'm starting to see local non-uspsa matches/clubs using the rule "a non maginifed optic", is the same as iron sights.. and allowing a dot in Tactical.. That is so wrong. Tactical is one optical sight only, what you are discribing is an open rifle. And is a huge advantage.
  22. Mike at Accurate Iron did the work on my M2. I could not be Happier
  23. That is one beautiful gun. Nuf said!
