  1. Going to the plate rack this weekend for some 'actual real live practice' (rare). Will post times, SS and Limited.
  2. I hit a 1.5 yesterday with my non-magwell'd work gun (1911). Best is a .9 on a 10y plate rack with my limited gun. That made me happy.
  3. I couldn't live (i.e. work) without my dremels. I do however, advise anyone and everyone, that a dremel is just like a hammer. It is an advanced tool. If you could not fathom taking a hammer to your pistol, consider the same thought process to a dremel tool.
  4. Gentleman, for your consideration for membership to the club. Proof of Major event using SS. IN state match, first major counting to 8. Number two. http://www.uspsa.org/mr/stage_display.php?...stol_Finals.dat This is the only one I own, but I did build it myself. I can post pics of other 1911 I have born.
  5. Note: I stated it was an OLD USAF manual. NOT what I practice myself. Funny flyboys.
  6. Now that I've shot a SS in a large match, I can say I really like the 1911 division..er Single Stack. I reload LSWC for both .40 and .45 so shooting .45 only cost marginally more (NOT wheel weights either). Recoil is nearly the same. 168 PF is 168 PF. I shoot my SS faster (splits) than my Ltd gun I swear. I can't tell from behind the gun, but the video doesn't lie. In fact, I'm rebuilding my Limited gun to feel and handle like my SS gun. I started with a Glock in Production for the same reasons people have already listed (cost, ammo, equal equip. etc) but I soon moved to Limited for a larger competitor pool, then soon after switched to a 2011. Now that the SSD is no longer PSSD I hope it continues to become more popular. As for ease of moving up in classes I think it's just as easy to move up in SS as it is in Production. Two of my highest classifiers were shot in SS.
  7. This was my first time shooting a skinny gun in a big match. I really liked the stages because there were many different ways to shoot most of them.
  8. Very good stages. I liked that they were high round count (most of them). It was a scorcher today (sunday). I must have ingested 2 gallons of water and 1 gallon of Gatoraid. That's a lot for me. Thanks to the staff we had two or three canopies (shade) at every stage. That helped a bunch!!
  9. I have an old USAF manual on accurizing the 1911. They state that it should NOT close completely from .5" open. IOW, pull the slide back .5" and let go. According to them it should not close completely. Now THAT'S tight.
  10. 3 hours with new frame and slide (Caspian/STI) is typical for most I do.
  11. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66126 Will go to IonBond after T&E and break in. So far, very happy. Groups well.
  12. in the Memorial area, not far from Memorial City Mall off of I-10 and Gessner Rd.
  13. I found something on Ebay that I'd like to bid on, but go figure, they won't ship. They live in Houston, TX. I've been shopping for a BOB Jogging stroller for my 2 year old for 3 weeks. Waiting for "that good deal" to come around. Local pickups always go cheaper but I'm not driving to TX for a $200 stroller. Anyone in Houston want to make a buck? Pick up stroller from seller, box up and ship. I did this once for a guy in New Zealand of all places. He wanted a set of GSXR forks on Ebay but the seller refused to ship internationally. He had the seller ship them to me, paid me, I shipped them to him. Figured I'd ask here.
  14. It's quite possible that it's shaving some brass upon feeding or extraction. Could be rough magazine lips, feed ramp or breech face.
  15. Thanks. I had a NICE Sirloin on marinade for about 48 hours. HAD to grill it tonight. Got it done. Brought it back in the house and nearly dropped it on the floor. Back spasmed right as reached the counter. Nearly ended up on the floor myself. Hoowee, this is good one. Wife has a Therapist (I call it The Rapist) back messager thingie that you put on a chair then sit on it. It seemed to loosen my back up a bit. Hot shower, skip work, see Back Doc, lots of floor time tomorrow and hopefully it's good before next weekends match.
  16. I should mention, he's like a girl shopping for a prom dress when it comes to his slide cuts too!
  17. I guess my weekly shower comes early. Just kidding. I will do the hot water shower tonight. Surge has it down. Basically the same thing a Quackropractor would say. NSAIDS and rest. I may try a hot pad too. Don't worry Steel, the only work I've done on my buddies pistol is with a dry erase version of a sharpie to get his slide cuts figured out.

    My back

So I'm laying on the floor typing this. My back is so tore up right now that I've resorted to pain meds. I hate taking them. I'll be on Motrin every 8 hrs as well as Lortab as needed. Although Bourbon is more enjoyable and does help me forget the pain for a while, Lortab actually works to relax my knotted back muscles. The last time it was this bad I was working in Kuwait. I could barely sit upright at my work bench and wore a movers style back brace just to get me through the day. It hurt just to sit in a chair. It's Fu****g stupid. I have no idea what caused this episode. Pain is in the upper back, just under my shoulder blades (scapula). Which of course affects everything from standing, sitting, holding a cup, pistol and I can forget about holding a rifle up anytime soon. Hope the zombies don't pick tonight to attack. Funny how I just joked about jumping out of perfectly good airplanes yesterday. I haven't jumped in over 10 years but I guess the long term effects are stuck with me. Can't practice, load ammo or continue building a buddies new pistol. Hopefully this one will be a short one.
  19. Why would a 180gr .40 be softer than a 185gr .45 given the same velocity? I use a 200gr .45 but if I really wanted to mimic my .40 load I would run 185's. I can understand the arguement of using .40 if you don't want to load .45ACP.
  20. Boobs. Gloved hand. M4. What I saw, in that order.
  21. To repeat the above post (and to subcribe), any new news? I'm buying a 6 inch barrel. Ribbed or not? If a 5inch sight tracker is leagal, why wouldn't a 6 inch be legal? Is it because of the number that has been produced by SVI? Edited: Ok, I read the "other thread (drift)" regarding this as well. I understand the "officially unofficial" answer now.
  22. At first I thought "ah, too bad it's for IN...WAIT, I am shooting at IN!" At least I can look at them on the table. Sweet!
