  1. A simple OAL checker... Make a dummy 9mm round up but don't crimp, put it into the chamber and let the side slam the round down (Do a couple of times). Subtract .005/.0010 "that should be your near ideal OAL with freebore. At least buy a calliper so you will know the length of the round ($10@ Harbor Freight). Threw the years, I've found the shape of bullets vary from maker to maker, thus the OAL length will change with no changes to your press.....
  2. Wanted to try some 124FMJ's.... Anyone know what the discount code is?
  3. I've had the Burris Fast Fire 3 x 8 min.dot (Free lifetime repairs,if needed) and the C-More STS 2, 7 moa. Either will be fine. The Burris is about 1/2 the price of the C-More. My shooting buddy uses the Delta Pro Point (has 2 of them). he had to return one as it died. (At $600.00 each, I'd think this is not good!)..... You have to take in consideration that when any of these "red dots" are slide mounted they are leading a brutal life. I've got over 1000 rounds on the C-More and it was used when I got it. It will fail eventually I'd guess????...
  4. http://www.egglestonmunitions.comThese are v good... Use "slickguns" for a discount OR there are other discounts available. How could you go wrong with red, white & blue bullets????. Shipping is reasonable.
  5. Hummmm...Gen 4 guide rod in my 34 is 2 springs & steel...... That said, the only time I use a "Factory" guide rod is in a GSSF match, stock class AND it's spring is "lightened". For any other type of shooting it's the steel one w/screw & ISMI flat spring, usually a 13# spring..
  6. I'd suppose the sure fire trick would be a curved metal lip (at least on the bottom of the mag catch cut in the mag) installed when they are manufactured. Since Glock molds the metal slide rails in the frames, it should be do able, but @ $20 a pop for mags, probably not practical?...Things wear out.....and not many Glock user's are changing mags often or repeatedly (as in competition)....I've emailed JR carbine's but no news from them????....I have a early production 9mm version and the mag well is sloppy from the get go. (It can be replaced). Now those 33 rounders are a bit more than $20.00, I will try welding up the mag lip on those.... In the mean time I've got some of the clear plastic 31 rounder's coming from Xxxtech..... We shall see....
  7. Just ordered 5 of the 31 rounder's from biotech (To get 20%off, you need to order 5 at a time).
  8. My shooting buddy, who had metal extended mag releases in all his Glock pistols, just started having problems with his Glock factory magazines in both his 34 &35... The mags were falling out while he was shooting in competition.. When looking at them, there is not much left of the original mag notch in the mag its self. (I put Glock plastic mag releases ones back his guns and he has that temporally fixed that issue, he had to buy all new magazines (10 in all). A bit costly..... Then last night, as I was shooting my JR carbine, metal AR style mag release @ Rio Salado's rifle/shotgun/match, MY Glock 33 round mag fell out of my JR carbine. ( Rifle inside the barrel start, may have brushed the inside of the barrel on the way out, but this should not have cause the mag to drop.). (The JR carbine has been near 100% runner in it's career, only issue was a defective firing pin that was quickly replaced.), ..... The JR has a metal mag release and the 33 rounder's mag notch was near gone!!!....DANG IT!!!... I'm also thinking that the Glock plastic mags and mag release are self-lubricating to some extent under normal circumstances....I may try some JB weld but it's not looking good.....
  9. Bought the Blade Tec, Midway had a decent price.
  10. I've had minor issues with my older 625 non magnetic insert using my newer 929 revo .... It appears that what was happening was that the trigger guard of the revolver was too wide for the locking block entrance? or the locking block entrance slot , thus moving the locking block downward before the 929 trigger guard could engage in the locking block, (moved the locking block downward before it's time).. Mine finally wore in BUT not after some issues as described. VERY minor sanding should be the fix?. I've found that the "tension" screw has to be set just right or it's still no workee, even now. ( I would have to take a finger and move the locking block up to it's starting position and re-holster., not the safest thing to do in the eyes of the RO)... I have no wobble. In all fairness, AA Saul offered to switch to a new magnetic unit BUT I didn't want to ship overseas. I use the same holster with the Glock insert and have had NO issues whatsoever. Mike
  11. There is a file on u tube.... Shows how to make and were to buy parts. A search for 20 round Vepr mag should work. I'm not able to download it here?????..
  12. I can't really see a big $$$$ savings over the plated ones, but yes you could save a bit over full metal jacketed unless you buy by the case..... Then, not much difference in cost. . The good thing, you can get all the way to 170 grn. coated Billy bullets or 160 grn. coated from other suppliers IF you want a heavy bullet?....At the normal range ICORE/Steel match's I shoot, there is no big accuracy advantage that I can tell. I've tried just about all the different weights, different powders and the is NO magic ammo out there. In the end, do you want a light, fast load or a heavy bullet with less "felt" recoil????... I can miss that "black ICORE circle" with either or any combo.
  13. Braxkton1, So what are your recommendations?
  14. Well, the only holster I've found made especially for the G17L/G24 is the Blade Tec one. I want to eliminate the possibility of the G24 front sight getting hung up on a holster made for a G34 holster. I have a C-More STS2 on the G34 MOS and just built the G24 w / a Gen 3 upper on a Gen 4 lower ( I have both ported and non ported Factory barrels for the G24). No, I don't see the G34 MOS fitting the G24 holster as a problem. I'd like to use only one holster/mag setup and don't mind the holster and mags being at the hip point or behind, that way I think I would satisfy the "rule" book and can load the mags with the appropriate round count for either "limited" or "carry optics" At age 74, I'm not going to "win" anything and my only goal is not to be LAST and don't need the holster of choice to be a factor. Mike
  15. I have a AA race holster.... The carry optic pretty well limits you on holster choice as I read it?. .Intel 6 did you move?..... Are you using the version that is for the 16L/24?... Mike in Mesa
  16. I only see one made (Blade Tec) model for the long slides????.... Any one use this one?.... or are you just using a shorter Glock 34 version of a holster?. I don't care if the nose of the 17L/24 holster is too long for my 34 MOS....I really don't like the barrel sticking out too far from the bottom of the holster....
  17. I like a VERY small bit of Brain's lube on the wear points, very small.
  18. Gen 4's for me .... I have a g34 MOS, g34, and small hands, I move the mag release to the right side..... You won't catch me breaking the 180 on a mag change..... I'm just finishing a g24 g3 upper on a g4 17/34 lower, same reason.....

    Fast fire mount

The Burris one... Pretty ingenious, doesn't require the mount screw to be very tight and cautions you not to over tighten..... It fits the contour of the stock Glock slide perfectly.... I'm posting a NIB FF3 & the mount in the sale items.

    to MOS or not?

I have both, that said I'd go for the MOS with all the different adaptor plates. ( As stated above, you can use any brand "dot" you want)). I have a FF3 on one WITHOUT the MOS adaptor plate and a C-More STS2 on the MOS gun. The most critical feature to me is "dot" size ..... While 3 MOA MIGHT be daylight visible in most parts of the USA, not good in sunny Arizona. I just turn down the "dot" at indoor shooting. I have all 7/8 MOA "dots" no matter who is the manufacturer. I was able to use the GSSF pistol discount coupon on my MOS purchase and got the "blue" box and saved a EZ $100.00. My buddy has the "Delta Point Pro" on his G 34 MOS and it's very visible BUT @ $600.00 it's a bit too much for me
  21. Peterthefish, pictures would be nice, I didn't want to mess with the fix till I had some input...Thanks, Mike
  22. Looks like I have the wrong insert (S&W 625) for my DAA Racemaster holster when it's set up for my 929.... Occasionally, the 929 won't come out of the holster or it's way difficult to withdraw . I finally did a little research and it seems "they" offer 2 models now, one for the 625 and one for the 686 and all are magnetic now instead of the "old" style which I have. I found a article about why the switch to the magnetic version of the insert and it was exactly the same problem I have. ( The sharp edge of the trigger guard pushes the plastic slide down part before it is supposed to).... SO, for the experts out there is the "N" frame on the 929 the same as the 686 OR is it like the 625?. Maybe someone has had a similar problem???, We you able to "fix" the old style insert? (I really don't like the magnetic stuff)....
  23. Time to visit APEX.......Get the spring also.....
  24. Buying a used tricked out Glock can sometimes be a better investment IF your not "handy".... The Glock's are so easy to work over even for some one with limited skills.
  25. I'm up to try one. I regularly shoot in competition (age 74, my goal is NOT to be last). Just got a GSSF discount on a G 34 MOS......
