  3. I cannot think heavy metal and not have in my mind a certain amount of practicality. with this in mind; -a pump gun with a longer tube is more impractical than a semi with an equal length tube. Not to mention heavier. I no have popeye arms. -the rifle variables are the snagging points in the melding of the two. Its completely dependent on the match and target scenarios to determine whats a effective equaling factor to be tweaked. I think its either time to just let irons die, and let the iron shooters shoot it for their own enjoyment; like how some guys will take a Garand and shoot HM. or, tweak the scoring of targets somehow. give the scoped guys further targets, or halve the penalty values for the irons guys. That last thing right there might really be something.

that real world stuff will get you killed in competition
  5. 7.4*2/600 = .0247" so youd need a .025" shorter sight.
  6. vertical impact surface is the vertical part. its the same location that an unramped barrel should hit. theres just more surface area. try to get contact distributed evenly towards the center and not the edgers or the 90deg corner that leads to the underside of the barrel.
  7. if this is true and they work I will jump for joy
  8. suggestion; get the gun, shoot it, then use the current sights dimensions to calculate exactly what height you will need. anything else is just a bestguestimate. once you get it on paper and if you need help with the calculations, post up here, folks will be happy to help
  9. dont change the basic side view of the curve of the as it is now, unless you are familiar with doing so (to make it easier or harder to engage) but you can contour the edge that the plunger rides on, so that it wants to snug the face inwards, towards the frame. -so tht it contacts more of the outside of the edge. also, DO check the plunger tube to see if its loose. thats a common symptom.
  10. Oh man; looks like Phoenix trinity forgot to leave the GI frame tangs. Looks like they lopped them right off and did some kind of weird 1/4" radius.
  11. if you want to be able to readjust a set screw without it moving on you, vibratite is a great product
  12. the key KEY key thing here, if you futz around with it yourself is to test it, do a full functions test first after working on it, and then put it through the wringer during live fire; expecting the darn thing to do full auto if you didnt get it right. So only load one or a couple rounds at a time. If you do not know what a functions test is, for the 1911; then stop and go to a gunsmith now.
  13. you did say friend; so; 500-600 for the pro, 350-400 for the shield add em up for a package deal, dont take advantage of friends. those ind. prices are good, but not robbery
  14. Can't fit something that's already too small when it arrives "oversized". I ended up fabricating an aluminum shim out of some .012" al that I had and taking up most of the wobble, just surprised nobody makes triggers that are .930" good point, I should have read more closely..
  15. Ive gotten better service from them lately. ie last couple months. plus, the edge program rocks.
  16. Most of the guns out there these days never read the original specs or kuhnhausen. break out the sharpie, and some files and fit it.
  17. Robbie, I agree with you except about the last part. When its my turn to shoot, thats my shooting area while the rest of the squad is taping and setting up. Those on-deck guys have a way of getting in the way, especially when they are rightys and Im a lefty. or vice versa.
