  1. Precision Bullets is top-shelf product.
  2. When Para hit the shooting sports scene many years ago, competitors were excited about the added capacity. But, the metal in those early models wasn't very tough. It never became much better, either. Rule of thumb on a Para was to junk all their parts including the slide and rebuild with STI stuff. The Para fit my hands better than the STI/SVI guns, but Para never had the quality of those guns.
  3. Rick is riding down with Roger R. That's right his shirt did look like someone barfed all over didn't it.. He said he had some unfinished business to deal with down there...don't ask don't tell... If anything like last year this match should be a hoot. Whut's the wurd in cajun for "hoot"? later rdd "Whut's the wurd in cajun for "hoot"?" Daniel Hidalgo, of course. Bubber, Roger AND Rick???? Now I know I have to be there.
  4. And on this the director from Area 6 agrees. To say it simply, I believe the BOD wrote a rule poorly worded in the new book which did not relect the intent of what we actually wanted to do and we need to revisit that decision. I can not in good concious allow those who had guns in compliance with our old rule book have to go out and buy a new one now after the rules were revised. My intention was to allow what was previously allowed under the old rules to be allowed under the new rules. I also want to say that I have had a busy day today hearing from a number of members on this issue and the other hot button matter of team selection. I very much appreciate all of the communication I have today receieved. If for any reason I did not respond in a timely matter to anyone, it was simply becaause your email, im, or pm got lost in this record setting communication day. I have had not a single message from any shooter which suggests that production modifications be tightened to the extent it is now being stated as is provided in the newest rule book. So I have heard your marching orders and I wil gladly obey. Charles I'm thankful we have Area Directors listening to the shooters and will act in the best interest of the sport. Cheers to Charles and Gary!
  5. Welcome to exactly the type of decision the BOD must make all of the time. Trust me, this is far from the largest can of worms I have seen while on the BOD. Charlie, What's your take on it? What would you do...if you had to make a decision as a bod member? Speaking only for myself here it was my intent to adopt rules that left the production trigger issue alone. Earlier on in the rules discussion, I saw value in requiring a trigger pull because I thought that would level the playing field. After I was contacted by a number of production shooters who brought to my attention that to do so would only move many production shooters from striker fired guns to those that are DAO on the first shot and SA on each subsequent shot, I changed my mind and voted for a set of rules that I believed left the production trigger issue unchanged. I believe in rules and I believe rules must be followed. I also believe that having rules that can not be enforced are akin to having no rules at all since if you can not enforce a rule, all you are doing is telling those who follow the exact language of the rules what fools they are. Reading draft after draft of rules is an exhausting exercise but I do not recall at any time ever being made aware by anyone that the what is being disucssed as the rule here was in fact the rule we were adopting. That is not to blame anyone else but rather just to say I am not sure the entire BOD viewed this rule at that time as it is now being read. Frankly, even at this point I have to look closely to see that parts replacement is forbidden. Clearly we should have communicated to the membership better than we did this change if that is what we desired the rule to be. So back to your question. If I had to make a decsion as a BOD member what would I do? The short answer is that I am not yet sure. I believe the rules must be upheld but USPSA dropped the ball here and unless we are going to tear down guns at matches, what is really the point? Charles Bond Charlie, Thanks for your response. I own both a Vanek Custom Production Gun, as well as CZ from their custom shop. For the record, I along with every Production shooter I spoke with at our home club would like USPSA to allow Production guns do anything they want inside the gun. Don't resrtict trigger pull weight. Let the gunsmiths be creative on the inside of the guns. Anything else will be difficult or impossible to enforce. Respectfully, Cliff L-1610

  7. Curtis, In central Mississippi, Production is the largest, fastest growing division. Many, many new shooters are loving Production. They don't complain about the rules one bit. And,the shooters that have been around 5, 10, 15+ years don't complain about the rules. Nobody does! The only time you'll hear anything negative is when the BOD starts messing with the rules (Read: Costing shooters $$$). Maybe for once, things are right and should be left alone. Novel concept, eh?
  8. bruce, can you explain why changing every single thing possible on my gun externally is fine and dandy, but allowing trigger jobs will somehow lead to the destruction of the division? Amen.
  9. If Production gun "A" (CZ Shadow) comes from the "factory" with a better trigger than Production Gun "B" (Glock-17),the "B" gun can never be improved to match the "A" gun. Most newbies start out with the Glock, XD, or some other inexpensive gun they can improve along the way. In the end, the little guy will lose out if he can't improve his platform. He could, but we won't let him. He must go out and buy the more expensive gun from the get-go. I own both, btw.
  10. For someone who has only been a member of USPSA for less than a year, I wouldn't be so rude. Quite a few of us have been around a little longer than you.
  11. Agreed, jobob. Why is it legal to install a $300.00 pair of Bomars on a Production gun, but internal trigger work is the hill some are picking to die on? Why let shooters put match barrels in their guns, but flip out over a freakin' .02 set screw. We had 15 Production shooters at our monthly match 2 weekends ago. The second biggest division was Limited at 7. Production is growing. New shooters LIKE it. Leave.It.Alone.
  12. Free entry for Jr.s and Ladies, not GM's. Promote the sport from the bottom, not the top. The GM shooters will be there anyway.
  13. ScooterJ, I hope to shoot the match again. Great match for those who can make it.
  14. 45 acp with biggest bullet you can find. Load in the range of 180 pf. Flat point bullets work great. Hit the pins just above the widest part.
  15. +1 to the bed and breakfast idea. My wife and I renewed our vows with the same preacher and best man at bed a breakfast. We also invited our close family. I gave my wife her 10 year anniversary band during the ceremony. She was very surprised. Happy 10th!
  16. Happy New Year!!! Make a promise to yourself to bring at least 1 new shooter into the sport.
  17. I teach this on a daily basis: The Four Laws Of Gun Safety 1. Always treat every gun as if it's loaded, even if it's not. 2. Never point a gun a something you are not willing to destroy. 3. Always be sure of your target and what's beyond it. 4. Never put your finger inside the trigger gaurd until you are ready to shoot. Mr. Muzzleoader broke at least laws 1 and 2. Our range has very strict rules about handling guns with others down range. You can't even adjust a scope...no touching allowed. Of course when you explain this, the first thing someone like this will say is: "It's not loaded..." The second most popular answer is, "I didn't know ..." Good luck.
  18. My wife and I had the same happen with epileptic seizures and the meds you mentioned to our female Sheltie. It was a painful time when she passed away...broke our hearts. She was a real sweet, gentle little lady. It was hard to watch her go through the seizures, but when she died, I took solace in knowing we did everything we could for her, and she was no longer suffering. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  19. Dave, I shoot a 38 spl in my 627 PC gun. Can I use the same Hearthcos for short Colt brass? Thanks!
  20. I have a new Shadow, as well. +1 on the Winchester white box from Wal-Mart. The Rem UMC does have some feed problems because of the short over-all length. Also, the Precision (Black) Bullet is great in anything BUT the CZ. The truncated cone shape and the ramp/chamber don't like each other. I do like the 147 Precision in my G-17. As per conversation with Angus, I'm working up a load with 124 grain rn, fmj. The lighter bullets feel better in the CZ, and like another on this thread said, not as "sluggish."
  21. I've known Max since he was 10 years old. He shot with us at a club in Amite, LA. He was always a very polite young man, and I'm glad to see him do so well. He's still the same nice guy after all these years. I remember a match in 1994 we had there. It was a Limited gun only format the club was trying out (Limited was new at the time). We had about 50 shooters and Little Max came in 5th overall shooting an EAA 9mm. That meant 45 grown men had to go home and tell their wives/girlfriends they just got beat by a 12 year old shooting minor. He'll do very well for Sig, or anybody else he represents. Keep going Max!
