  2. 88' was the golden age "old timers" who you callin old timer? I'm still a rookie! Enos! please tell him bout the Cooper & the real beginners of the game 9x21 FY8825 Joined: 5/02/88
  3. Starline still makes, I just got 20K two months ago. Give them a call contact Starline at 1-800-280-6660 or e-mail info@starlinebrass.com. 9x21
  4. I've been using flat triggers for years (since EGW came out w/them) although I have long fingers, "first contact is first contact" no matter how long your fingers are, Press your trigger finger on a table, I'll bet it contours flat! Why do we have curved triggers anyway? Find your comfort zone for length, Try FLAT!
  5. plus one to what Schutzenmeister said. increase bellmouth, right pins? right shell plate? anymore problems calls Dillon PS Schutzenmeister keep the 1050 before thinking super 1050. I have both, to me, older is better
  6. Used can be a great buy, especially since a lot of used guns have improvements done already. Most new factory pistols need a trigger job at the very least, fiber optic sights, grip treatment, hard crome are other popular options. Unless your buying new "built" pistol from a gunsmith (like Bedell, Brazos, Benney Hill, etc) with the features you'll like, you can save some cash or get mags & stuff included. Shop around.........

    Gun On X

A good reason to use a slide racker on an open pistol! unlikely they can make you remove it any more than they could make you remove your scope, since both are legal for that division. Love my sidewinder!
  8. Schuemann maybe the best, but hard to come by right now. I've had excellent results with Nowlin as well. Bar-sto also good. Dan Bedell uses KKM if Schuemann n/a.
  9. I'm sure glad I shoot USPSA open! Once I start, the only time my gun is out of bullets is when the RO tells me to unload & show clear.......
  10. Hal. Your better than you think now, I'll bring an extra Shorty to the match, you use it, you'll see. It's MORE FUN outside, lot's more to shoot at. Just bring a belt, I got everything else, and No, you would need to practice with it, just dry fire a couple of times like me...... If I had time & place to practice, I would, but, I don't....I waiting till I retire, them I can practice & become the Master I always wanted to be. For now it's just fun again It's all good. Let me know which match your going to next. Hammer
  11. Hal, Like we talked the other day, COME BACK TO THE DARK SIDE of open class! Throw them iron sighted guns away, I know you'll be back on top with a dot & a lot of bullets! HAMMER
  12. Watch out for over lubrication also, If you use spray on Breakfree or something similar, check under your battery cap. You may find it shorting out your battery, the cover doesn't seem to be waterproof.
  13. My one & a half gun was build in the 1995, At that time I had my FFL, so parts were bought wholesale. Both slides had to accu-railed, so fitting to another frame was probably an additional $80. I'm capable of doing my own trigger job & liked Krebs magwells at the time. $500 additional was pretty close to what was needed for two guns instead of 1 & 1/2. My point is that pistols are a big expense, and a half gun laying around was a waste of money for me. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
  14. http://www.theknifeconnection.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=4336 for $804.95 & shipping, or enter Leupold VX III 8.5-25x50mm your internet search page for more options.
  15. I have used WSR's for years & years in 9x21 major loads without any problem. Going back to P9 days when I loaded to 9X19 overall length (had to load 175PF back them). Still use them today, miss the chrome though.........
  16. I had it done once. I had an open 9x21 upper and .40 limited upper to a STI frame. I had the slides accru-railed to ensure interchangability. It worked OK, I always felt it was a waste of half a pistol after I did it. For what it cost for fitting both to one, I could have spent another $500 for a complete lower and had TWO pistols! I would not do it again.
  17. I thinks it's a major distraction, but, there have been a few stages over the years I'd liked to "gone on" after I shot them.....
  18. Better to have'd loved the sport & lost than never have loved the sport at all.. I left the sport for a few years because of similar reasons.. When I quit, I guess I was just a hair away from making master. ( they didn't have your classifer score on a web site back then). Coming back a few years ago, I quickly realized I would probably always be a A shooter, but I enjoy the competition. If I have a good day, I don't mind being 1st loser. I wouldn't give it up again. Keep going, shoot within your limits. FY8825
  19. (many) Years ago, when I still knew how to shoot a pistol that didn't use a magazine, I used 150 grain .356 Jacketed round nose bullets with good success, They reloaded very fast. They shoot good enuf for Steel matches.
  20. My practice always takes place on stage 1 & stage 2 of match. The old outdoor range got shut down years ago (too much noise thay said, they should have put their muffs on!) The 50' indoor range no longer allows the the dangerous practice drawing from leather or setting up more than one target. (their tired of fixing floors, walls & ceiling lights shot up by beginners) I always mean to dry fire and practice my reloads, but I just don't seem to get around to it. FY8825
  21. The most effective way I found to properly fit a barrel is to let the Gunsmith do it. It is not as easy as it looks. You got lugs, links, ramp, hood all kinds of stuff that has to be fit correctly for the gun to work.
  22. Adjustable is usually better. Different loads land in different places.
  23. Scarface Quotes "I always tell the truth. Even when I lie."
  24. Go with the Glock, inexpensive & reliable. Aftermarket gizmos are plentiful. Mags are cheap $$ & plentiful. Compared to the cost of my open mags, Glock mags are so cheap, I could throw them away after use instead of cleaning them..................
  25. No holes needed, I have two of Dan's pistols, one with holes & one without. There is no difference shooting them except, the one without holes keeps the windshield clean!
