Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. I'm also a left eye dominant, right handed shooter. When shooting iron sight pistols I have both eyes open but my head is turned slightly to the right because I'm using my left with the sights. I've just started practicing for PCC, with a dot on my rifle I'm working on both eyes open with my right eye on the dot. That's been interesting because my natural tendency with a rifle is to close my left eye when looking down the sight.
  2. For anyone interested, the 3 Gen 1 mags for $60 linked to above is still good. I tried the link just for giggles yesterday and it showed in stock. I placed an order yesterday and got the shipping confirmation a few minutes ago.
  3. My brief "how I decided" post... When I started I was lucky enough to hook up with a local club that did a new shooter orientation that included a table full of pistols from all divisions that everyone could try. So I got lots of instruction and trigger time with different guns to wet my appetite. Ultimately I started out in Production back in '03'ish because it had the lowest entry point cost wise. After shooting for a couple of years or so of Production I took the leap and bought a used Brazos Limited gun from a fellow BE'er and spent the next couple of years shooting Limited because 21 rounds in a mag made me happy. I sort of peaked in '08 winning my class at some level 2 and 3 matches and then walked away for a couple of reasons not related to the sport. After not shooting a match in 8+ years, this spring I started dusting off my gear with plans to get after it again this year. Although, while I'll run some pistols, trying PCC is really what has rekindled my fire.
  4. I don't think anyone else posted this, folks may want to check out https://pwnedlist.com. It's a service that will tell you if any of your email addresses, etc have been part of a public data breach. The site/service has been featured by a number of major publications and is used by Lastpass which I use for password management Since I've received nothing about the breach from the USPSA, I wasn't sure what email address I had used for the USPSA site and as a bonus the reset password option has yet to work for me. So I plugged a couple of the likely addresses into pwnedlist and sure enough, one came back as part of the USPSA breach. I feel like I'm just piling on at this point but as someone that advises firms on IT matters, I don't think this whole thing could have been handled more poorly by the USPSA.

  6. My wife thinks I'm "too sensitive" about gun related issues as it is, so when I complain about this show she just rolls her eyes.... One thing that has bugged me from the get go that most of the time they have made it look like you can just roll into a shop and walk out with something like a suppressed SBR. Except for the parts of the one show with the WWII vet that won the MOH I think the show is actually portrays gun owners (and smiths for that matter) in a poor light. I like it when shooting and firearms in general get exposure but I don't think this type of exposure helps our cause.
  7. Don't have access to to Cable or Satellite, so I'm not sure when I will see an episode, but I thought that Jadeslade's quote above would look good as a tag/signature line. By the way, It is GREAT advice I have to agree, Jade's quote is definitely signature line material... My wife and I watched the show, it was interesting, I'll let the DVR keep recording it but I don't know how much either of us will watch it.
  8. I've been using the free version of AVG's anti-virus product on all my computers and my families computers for several years, I highly recommend it.
  9. I'm doing nothing for the ratings, I DVR the show and skip over all the BS so I can watch the shooting. Then the shooting is a bit of a disappointment because guys like Blake are getting sat down and they barely showed any of JJ's shots. The next thing is they'll have the Mythbusters out there setting up steel plates for ricochet shots in some sort of billiards challenge...
  10. I just graduated to Rocketing Rabbit with a .1666 sec average...
  11. 1987 Chevy Celebrity, back in my party days it could 11 people plus 2 in the trunk..... If it really needed to.....
  12. I hate that Pittsburgh still tries to operate on traffic patterns designed in the middle of the 20th century which leads to me and 1000's of my closest friends spending an hour driving the last 3 miles into the city on mornings like today...
  13. Alright I just started this crap and I'm already getting addicted.... Must.........grow............Mafia................ I'll be hitting you guys up as friends on FB......

    I am humbled

I bought one of Al's Brazos limited guns a couple years back (so not a direct Brazos customer) and have a similar story. I broke my micro dot by sticking my pistol into a port and letting it bash into the top of said port when it recoiled. I contact Brazos because I wasn't sure which replacement I needed and plainly told them that I broke the sight because I was dumb. That still didn't stop them from sending me a replacement at NO CHARGE and just asking me to mail them back the broken sight after I took it out. Definitely great folks that I would have no hesitation in recommending to someone else.
  15. I didn't think so either, all these other posts are confusing me.....
