  1. Barrels are visible externally and have been restricted all along. I said nothing about changing that. So what's the question that you want answered? And by whom? If you have an unmarked replacement Glock slide and an unmarked conversion barrel, the difference would not be externally visible at all . . . and if this combo IS legal, it would be functionally no different than a a gun with a stock Glock 35 slide with a conversion barrel. I don't have them handy, but I think the 'bull barrel' effect is a red herring...if it there were a 'bull barrel' issue, I would think the "2 oz over stock" weight limit would be a better way to address it. I just noticed a lot of would-be newbie shooters on here and glocktalk with Glock 22s and Glock 35s want to be competitive in Production, but don't reload. Being able to buy a conversion barrel for $100 would allow them to cut their shooting costs in half, rather than having to spend $500 on a new gun. Regardless of how the rules shake out, I really think there should be added language to the rule or a criteria for future interpretations of the rules that bases decisions on whether a competitive advantage is gained. Does anyone really think there is a "bull-barrel effect" in a bore size difference of .045"? Seriously? You can say, with a straight face, that the weight difference in putting a barrel made to shoot 9mm in a gun designed to shoot .40S&W is measurable?
  2. Yep, Pam woke up and found Bobby in the shower. lol
  3. This is all quickly becoming a joke, t me. I didn't shoot at all, except for one match during 2008. I intend on shooting during 2009. My Production gun (not stock) is the same as it was during 2006 and 2007. I'm changing nothing. There, I said it.
  4. *thumb rest [generic]* on a barry mount? Barry would not approve of this!!!
  5. Wasylow vs. Glock Where a young man has an AD into his own abdomen. From a Texas LE agency: Another incident would be the one in 1997 where someone modified an SKS to fire full auto to kill a Denver police officer. The state offered testimony to say the perp not only violated the National Firearms Act but did so in such a manner to portray the intent to commit murder with the weapon by modifying its fire control group. I can't find the case number but the reports can be found on line. So if you don't think an attorney can and will try to say you modified the trigger of a weapon to make it easier to fire the weapon or that you had malicious intent when you did so... well, hope you never wind up in court. Some lawyers will do anything to get their convictions. The pool of pro 2nd Amendment lawyers is real shallow. Remember, if you make it to the point that you are a defendant in court, you've already been arrested for committing a crime in which someone thinks they can win a case against you. None of what you posted supports your position. In fact, none of that has anything to do with it.
  6. Because using that logic wouldn't allow others to say, "But his gun is modified more than mine, that's why he won. No fair!".
  7. Greg shot through yesterday evening.....He was not having a good match at all. I shot with him last year when he put 11 in the mag for an unloaded gun start and found himself shooting in limited! I thought you went to open if you don't meet division requirements. Has this changed in the recent rule book? It was the LPR Nationals and no open division....I think they may have made an exception, which they should! That was Greg's first big match in production and he still placed well shooting limited minor. He never loaded his mags all the way either! The rule is if you do not meet the requirements for the stated division, you get moved to Open. If Open is not being contested at that match, you shoot for no score. Change the rule if we don't like it, but follow the rules.
  8. You know the answer to this, but just couldn't resist, could you?
  9. Guys, that was (maybe still is) a prohibited mod. So was a simple plastic plug in the grip of a Glock. So was stippling a Glock grip. Not so much anymore...
  10. I never had a problem with moon clips the few times I shot a revo during USPSA matches. I had a problem now and then with high primers in my NRA Action gun. That will stop EVERYTHING, right now. A quick spin will let you know.
  11. One last time for everyone, we, the local operators, have NO (zero, none) control over the credit card systems. We (my family) own and operate a Sunoco gas station/mini mart in Ne Pa. Our CC's go through CitiBank. Most cards will auto shut-off at $75. Fleet cards will go to $250. WE HAVE NO, ZERO, ZIP, NADA control over the preset. I'm not lying. Come up to my station, we'll call the processor, you get them to raise the limit. If you can't, I get to kick you in the crotch.
  12. No, sorry Chuck, it's the credit card companies and the processors . I'll sell you as much as you like, the CC companies and the clearing house set the limit at the pump. Come inside and we'll "open'er up fer ya".
  13. Call your banks and bitch, it's a pre-set determined by the CC companies.
  14. You know you are not permitted it inject common sense into this discussion. Just because there is a lack of clarity doesn't mean that confirmation should be received BEFORE doing this. What would they bitch about then if it is determined you can't do it before you do it? Just for you, I'm going to send the same thing to see what the answer is. The url shows the before and after pics. ETA: Screw it, I'm going to send it snail mail, with color pics of the before and after.
  15. It appears the email above was sent with the url that shows before and after pics. What's the matter, it's not like we're asking the OEM to add special parts or anything.
  16. -Sorry, cant do anything with the slide. Actually, you can replace the slide with an aftermarket copy. shrug Who cares, it's justa game. wink
  17. I was just composing an email to John, worded almost exactly the same as yours. Well, do I sacrifice my G34 frame to the production gods? I guess I could always buy a G35 later and have a frame swap if JA and/or anyone else decides this is not Production legal. Then I'd have an L-10 gun.
  18. If the answer is yes, my gun is getting sent to the speedway.
  19. This is obviously not that big of a deal, the past President is still the President. Most members didn't care enough to vote a change.
  20. I can't wait to attack the grip of my Glock with a soldering pencil!. Not that Eric's grip tape doesn't work, but I like stippling.
  21. There is no provision in the rule book for a warning, first. The rule clearly spells out that an infraction of the division equipment rules mandates a move to OPEN division, or if OPEN is not contested at the match, the shooter will shoot for no score. If it is an Open shooter, he will shoot for no score. That said, I believe it should be a move to Limited, for a Production shooter. But I have read that the rule was written that way to seriously discourage these things. Also, it is consistent across all the divisions. There was a guy on my squad that was moved to Limited for the grip tape on the frame. Good for him, he got a break and was able to shoot for score.
  22. Just to remind everybody, this is the post that started this thread. Please note it says, "In order to KEEP PLAYING THE GAME they need to start shooting 9mm..." This is NOT a new shooter with a non-conforming gun showing up for the first time at the range. This is a shooter who has been competing with a G22, who wants to convert to 9mm to cut ammo costs, supposedly. And he/she wants to do it on the cheap by simply switching to a 9mm barrel on his present gun [and getting about 5-9mm mags]. They presumably have been around long enough to know we have separate divisions with specific equipment rules and regulations. They have been competing using the G22 and .40 ammo, so presumably they've been competing in Ltd or L10. And now, they want to switch to 9 mm ammo "to cut ammo costs" and, oh yeah, compete in Production division. They already KNOW they can compete in Ltd and L10 with the converted gun. If all they want to do is reduce ammo costs, they'd make the conversion and compete in Ltd or L10. End of controversy. I STRONGLY suspect that their ulterior motive in switching barrels is to compete in Production division "on the cheap". You can get a drop-in barrel to convert the G22 to 9 mm for less than $100. You'll spend another $100 on 5-9mm mags. [www.cheaperthandirt.com] Actually buying a 9mm Glock would set them back maybe $500, less for a used gun. So their difference in cost of shooting in Production with a legal gun is $400 or less. Based on the factory ammo cost differential between 9mm and 40 ammo of $10 per box of 50, they'll make up a $400 differential by shooting 2,000 rounds. That's about 2 month's matches and practice for many of us. Based on this interpretation of the rationale for making the conversion and attempting to switch divisions, I'd flat out tell the cheap B.....D that he's either shooting Ltd/L10, or he gets a gun that's legal in Production division. And after telling him that, if he insists on registering for Production division with that gun, I'd bump him to Open in a heartbeat. I agree, new shooter, I would bend the rules. With someone who's been around a while, they get the talk and then the bump.
  23. Do it again and I'll vote for you again. Hope you stay near to continue supporting us, shooters. USPSA is better with you here. See you at the range! +1
  24. Well actually.... We have Limited-10 IPSC does not We have a run what you got Production division where 9mm to .45 can all play IPSC does not We have Single Stack IPSC does not We have Limited IPSC has Standard, a lot like Limited, but different, same gun, ( almost, my Limited gun with a slide racker won't fit the box) different mags and equipment position, gun has to fit in the box. We have OPEN IPSC has OPEN We don't have Modified IPSC does (It is a lot like Open, but has to fit in the box) Do we need to add a 7th division? I don't think so, but then again, I do think that 6 divisions is a pretty good number and the divisions we have all have pretty good participation in different areas of the country. Jim
