  1. Just finished. Awesome match! If you didn't shoot these matches, you really missed a great time. Thanks to all the ROs and Dean and crew! Now it's beer time...
  2. This may have been addressed already. I haven't read past the first page... Why are there two separate classifications for Limited and Limited10? The overwhelming bulk of classifiers have mandatory reloads in them or are set up with separate strings of fire to make capacity irrelevant. Shouldn't L and L10 be the same class?
  3. 300 yard skinny sammys are just if not more likely and over some really beautiful natural terrain. I hope to see all of you at Peacemaker. What is a "skinny sammy"? I'd like to also say thanks for a great match! they are the very small poppers "Very small"? LOL Are they bigger or smaller than what we shot at 200 yards at Topton?

  5. I wasn't around for the last leadership change, but since I've been in the sport shooting Production I have to say that the things that have bothered me the most have not been the existing rules, it has been the, frankly, bizarre rulings put forth from NROI. The paint in the magwell thing is a perfect example. Perhaps even more strange with that ruling was the language, "anything to help them reload or align sights quicker." Sight black is a temporary finish applied to aid in sighting the gun, and is obviously illegal based on that language, except that DNROI pointed to precedent to stipulate that sight black is, and has always been, legal. Which is it, the letter of the law or precedent? The rules about not using a barrel length any different from factory standard were also pretty clear, except that NROI changed their minds for CZ shooters. One can swap an Australian barrel into a regular old Shadow no problem, but I can't put a Glock 34 slide on a Glock 17 frame. One of those things clearly creates a competitive advantage, the other does not, and the one that does not is the one that is illegal. Oh yeah, I asked DNROI about that CZ barrel issue and he said it wasn't legal. A matter of weeks later they changed the CZ Production gun list to include different barrel length options for the same model of guns (even though they don't come that way from the factory). I'm hopeful that our new President - an experienced Production shooter - can lead a charge to simplify these issues and bring them more in line with common sense. How would anyone know?
  6. They already have that, it's called Limited Minor. I want a special Division for Moderately Good Looking Fat Obnoxious Bastards. Then, when too many others shoot that Division and I can no longer win, I will want a new Division for Moderately Good Looking Fat Obnoxious Bastards with Purple Socks...
  7. Yep! All these makers have mini-dot'itis. News flash to the makers...the whole idea is to SEE the thing that needs seeing. Make that easy (big lens). Then, make the rest of it as small as possible (light weight and it gets out of the ways of other stuff) I'll take one of those also!
  8. I don't know if you noticed, but the firearms industry/hobby attracts some "special" people. The vast majority of the people I have shot with in the last 19.5 years have been fantastic. I'd invite them to my house for dinner. But some of them, well, I'm just glad they don't know where I live...
  9. Put him on the TSCR squad. That's actually true. In Georgia, they have guys to handle that. The general rule is, if you play with us, bring thick skin and broad shoulders. Bringing your namby pamby bullshit is OK, but expect to get hammered. Hard. It ain't life in the fast lane....lt's life in our lane. This road ain't easy, but it's straight. The guys that I shoot with from FSC are the same way.
  10. Entities under the same umbrella naturally seek to homogenize their rule structure to make transition between each entity a seamless transition. So to state there is no chance that USPSA will adopt IPSC rules or IPSC will adopt USPSA rules flies in the face of normal corporate evolution. Over time the rules will be the same in USPSA and IPSC for the following reason. It will be best for members of each organization as it allows members to compete in each organizations events without placing undue requirements on the members and the organization. No it won't happen soon or in 5 years but it will happen. Open your USPSA rulebook. See all those US exceptions? There are more now then there were 20 years ago. The split is wider, not narrower. It's just possible you're looking one rulebook behind. There are no more "US Exceptions" in the USPSA rulebook. It's USPSA all the way! http://www.uspsa.org/rules/2010HandgunRulesProof3web.pdf We haven't had "US/USPSA Exemptions" for a few years now. Honestly, I haven't looked at the rulebook in a few years. LOL I don't even have a clue where the most recent one is. I was just going from memory...
  11. Go to your local mega mart or big box pharmacy store and get a 100 or 200 pack of alcohol wipes. Put a handful in a ziplock bag and keep them in your shooting bag. Wipe the lens after every stage.
  12. Seems I read or heard the makers of the *thumb rest [generic]* took exception to using the name and calling every thumb rest that came along a *thumb rest [generic]*. If they slowed down and thought about it, they might just like it that way. For decades, people asked for a Kleenex when they meant a tissue. "Can you Xerox this for me?" Etc.
  13. How would anyone know? Is there a list of specs for hammer hooks? Some times it is better to not ask the question...

  15. I love the use of the auto-censor... "*thumb rest [generic]*" Cracks me up.
  16. Under 7 or 8 yards I can shoot a Production G34 as fast as the good Open shooters (at my club) can shoot their Open guns. I've done the same with the Limited gun. OP, shoot your Open gun the same as you shoot your Limited gun. Get a feel for it. Don't rush it, or you'll start flinging shots everywhere. Shoot no faster than you can. Simple. Dry fire until you can see the dot all the time, from draws-reloads-transitions-etc. During live practice, push a little harder than you normally do. See if you can keep the accuracy up while moving the gun faster.
  17. http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-classifer-lookup-results.php?number=l1530 Classifications (updated 10/14/2011): OPEN Class: M Pct: 88.40 High Pct: 88.40 LIMITED Class: M Pct: 84.46 High Pct: 85.50 LIMITED10 Class: A Pct: 59.46 High Pct: 66.38 PRODUCTION Class: M Pct: 85.18 High Pct: 85.18 Now I'm going back to Open and next year I'm making the push for GM. I might mess around in LIM-10 to see if I can get an M there also, but I want to concentrate on OPEN.
