How are the perfs? I have a newer order sitting in storage, but I haven't broken into them yet to check. Still working through old stock.

Check the targets, especially the no-shoots before your run
Bagellord replied to Blackstone45's topic in Match Screw-ups
A full diameter hit on the NS (or any target/hard cover, for that matter) that knocks over a plate or popper is a range equipment failure. Which means a reshoot. -
What is the part?
-
Is there anything that says individual matches can't add it as a category?
-
On a slightly more serious note: stop worry about the classifier (easier said than done) and JUST SHOOT IT. Never reshoot a classifier (aside from situations covered by the rules) unless something really wonky happened. Some of my highest classifier scores were shot when I was utterly distracted - running the timer, then finding out I am on deck for example. No time to think about it and worry. What is far more important than classifier scores is major match performance. Which is rich coming from a guy who never shoots to his classification percentage at majors, but that's a whole different discussion haha.

Wall Construction...with raw materials on the rise $$
Bagellord replied to Chappytactical's topic in Pre-match
With mild steel for the frames (and the fact that they are smaller than the typical wooden or PVC frame), it's fairly unlikely. At least with how I have used the walls and/or seen them used. -

Besides weight, what do you hate about metal framed walls? I actually prefer them over wood, at least from what I have seen in my area. -
I still say we need to freeze equipment changes for at least two years. We've had enough changes recently, things need to stabilize and then we can see if changes NEED to be made.

How does the Nationals move affect you?
Bagellord replied to obsessiveshooter's topic in USPSA Nationals
I was told by several (non-HQ) people that nobody wants to go back to Vegas for nationals. Maybe things have changed to make that viable now though, since last time? SUPS redid their bays and arrangement, and apparently it's just not suitable to hold the nationals there any more. They'd have to do a split match or something, with some stages there and the rest at another range. -
And of course now that I could actually go to the match, I've already plotted out my fall plans and will be running our big level 1 during nationals....
-
This was 2-gun nationals, so it's a little smaller any way because it's multigun

I almost got burned by this at SC sectional a few years back. A friend of mine I was shooting the match with told me to gauge the night before we shot. I discovered the tape had my mags out of compliance! Peeled it off and I was good to go. I think Sig fixed that issue, because I distinctly remember it being a problem when they first came out but not recently.
-
That's part of the reason I own a scale, shockbottle economy box, and a mag gauge. I'll bring them out whenever people need them so they can check their gear prior to a major.
-
The flip and catch is irrelevant to the detonation though, could still have gone off with them just racking it. I witnessed that happen to a shooter at a major - clearing a jam, the shooter had a detonation. Part of the cartridge struck them on the mouth, bloody lip. RO called stop for safety reasons, and they ended up reshooting (RM's call). Reason for the reshoot was we (the staff) essentially could not prove that the gun or ammo was dangerous and should be retired. It was a freak accident.

Blade tech double mag pouches, are they CO legal?
Bagellord replied to Bunnies4r5's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
They are legal - it's basically treated as 2 pouches with a common attachment point. -
Stage comments for recent Classic Nationals
Bagellord replied to Bagellord's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
There were several candidates - the ones with the strong/weak hand shooting and movement. -
Zero Sports Custom also has a good product.

If I ever leave the south I may have to look at settling up there just for the USPSA efficiency... At my club I design all the stages, and typically have 2-3 people help me build them the day before. We are pretty efficient though, we can put a 140 round match on the ground in around 3-4 hours. Less if I come out on Friday after work to set a few things up.

If the competitor fired 6 shots weak hand when they should have been strong hand, that would be a procedural per shot fired. 10.2.8If a course of fire stipulates shooting strong or weak hand only, a competitor not be penalized for using the other hand (i.e. the other arm from the shoulder to the hand) to disengage an external safety, to reload or to correct a malfunction. However, the competitor will be issued one procedural penalty per shot fired while: 10.2.8.1Touching the handgun with the other hand while firing shots; 10.2.8.2Using the other hand to support the handgun, wrist or shooting arm while firing shots; 10.2.8.3Using the other hand on a barricade or another prop to increase stability while firing shots. By holding the gun with the weak hand instead of the strong hand, IMO that satisfies touching the handgun with the other hand while firing shots. As far as interference - between strings, telling the shooter what happened isn't interference in my opinion. It's along the lines of if the shooter asked the RO a question ("what's the hand position" or something like that). If you're not interrupting the shooter getting set for the next string then it should be okay.

My draw stroke is just all weird because the gun clears the holster so much faster. It's causing me to porpoise

Hey Sarge, did you figure out what dimensions/product to buy? I am looking at getting some for my club, to replace the dry cleaner bags.

Stage comments for recent Classic Nationals
Bagellord replied to Bagellord's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
This year, my stage had a ghost squad before lunch and then two immediately after. We policed our stage and then checked out the vendors, watched other stages for a bit, then still had like 3 hours to kill haha. One thing actually related to the thread - I wish that there had been hard cover IPSC targets. All we had to create partials with those were NS, which is fine, but I do like using hard cover because shooters do treat it differently.
