  1. Curious to see which one the OP decides to go with. I don't know if I've ever read a post of someone "regretting" buying a 1050 ... If anything, the consensus seems to be "I wish I would have bought it sooner" That said, Dillon makes very fine products 550, 650 or their King Of The Hill 1050
  2. Congratulations on your Atlas ! Someday, I will join the tribe and have my own Custom/Semi-Custom ... I hope ?
  3. Good to know, I had heard of thought of trying a dryer sheet ... did not know they should be used first. Great info
  4. The 1050 sure looks like a great machine For me, I had a 650 at one point, had to sell it due to a move... then got back into reloading and bought a 550C (which is a fine machine it its own right). However, if I had it to do over again, I'd have bought another 650... I will probably sell my Redding T-7 and perhaps the 550 to fund a 650 purchase... unless I can find a great deal on a 1050... I don't really load enough to justify a 1050 .. but ... they sure look sweet ! Dennis
  5. I had a 650, went through a move at one point and had sell all my reloading equipment... Then when I started over, I bought a 550C, its a fine machine... but if I had it to do over again I'd have bought the 650. At this stage, I'm going to sell my Redding T7 and use that to help fund a 650 purchase.
  6. I decided to go with the Stoeger Single Stack setup with BOSS holster as in the following link. As I'm just starting out and needed belt, mags, holster it was convenient and based on feedback... seemed like a good starting point. Also, another factor, since I want to try steel challenge at some point and from what I've read I can use the same rig for both USPSA and steel challenge. Thanks for all the info !! https://benstoegerproshop.com/single-stack-complete-rig-with-boss-holster-daa-racer-mag-pocuhes-and-daa-belts-for-uspsa/
  7. Great response's, I now have a short list to choose from. Thank You Guys!! Dennis
  8. Newbie type question: Looking to shoot USPSA Single Stack and steel so I'm looking for recommendations as to holster / rig / setup for 1911 single stack. I'll start looking in the classifieds for something used as well. Thank You Dennis
  9. Agreed There is nothing wrong with a 550, the 650 is a step up in a big way with the auto-index and case feeder.
  10. I have a Inline Fabrication handle on my 550C I've used the Dillon roller handle on a buddies 550 & 650 and had a Dillon roller handle when I had my Dillon SL900 Nothing wrong with the Dillon roller handle... but I prefer the Inline Fabrication roller handle. I 2'nd JKrispies comments about Inline Fabrication being good to deal with - Dan Clausen (owner of IF)is top shelf. I too use one of his lights AND I have IF strong mounts on both my Dillon and my Redding press - The IF strong mounts are very very well built.
  11. I would suggest contacting Don at Reloading Covers. I have had Don make covers for my 550, Redding Turret, powder measure, etc. Don does nice work, fair price and fast shipping. https://www.etsy.com/shop/ReloaderCovers
  12. Congratulations on your 650. I had a 650 about 10 years ago but due to life changes ended up selling it. When I got back into shooting I bought a 550 (trying to save a little $) - the 550 is nice. However, if I were to do it again, I'd have spent the extra money and went with the 650. I believe you chose wisely
  13. What a beauty ! If it shoots as good as it looks, you will be on the podium Very Nice
  14. Ron, thank you for the post and I will give some of the 115 gr and compare to the 124/125 gr
  15. I too have a 550C and I'm very happy with it. It was a tough call/decision between the 550 and 650 and I ended up going with the 550 primarily due to price point and caliber change overs. I currently load (.38 super, 45 ACP, 44 Mag along with 223 and 300 BLK) When the time is right or the right deal presents itself I'll likely move to a 650 for dedicated pistol. Dillon makes a great product, can't go wrong with any of Dillon's presses and the "right" press varies based on needs.. or wants
  16. Like others, I currently use a Lee Universal. However, that Die from mighty armory looks to be very high quality
  17. Congratulations ! Dillon products are top shelf and I'm a fan of the 650.
  18. Welcome ! As you can see from my post count, I too am new to this forum Comment on the "getting into reloading": For me, reloading can be as almost as fun and addictive as shooting - not to mention that once your past the initial investment it really does save $. Dennis
  19. Will try some of the 115GR bullet's - thank you. Just received a blank Allchin mount and bought a gently used C-More on the classifieds to update the optics. A shout out to John at Allchin as he was very helpful and sent extra screws with the mount and thumb rest.
  20. You mentioned a 40 long by 30 deep bench. I believe those dimensions would be ok except for the height. The 28 inch bench would be a deal breaker for me, too short and would really limit storage underneath. I would likely opt for the garage since as others have said, once you start storing brass, scales or some day add another press you may need more bench space. You could always throw a "cover" over the press, most folks won't know what it is even uncovered but the cover would provide additional opsec. Also, the cover is nice to keep dust and such off when not in use. You could build doors for the lower shelfs or temporarily hang cloth/curtain the shelfs. Also, as others have said shelfs are handy. I thought my 8 foot by 22 inch bench would work with one shelf. However, I quickly found the need for another shelf and will likely add a set of shelfs behind the presses.
  21. DWS

    Sir,

You responded to my post about that old Caspian where I was asking for advice.

First, thanks for your advice and assistance.

Next, you mentioned that you may have some grip panels that you may sell. I would likely be interested in buying a pair.

    Thank You,
    Dennis

  22. Update: I shot about 40 rounds of the old Ammo and had a couple of rounds that went into battery but the trigger did not seem to reset properly or I did not "get off" the trigger completely (guessing ??) and had to re-rack the slide. I will replace the springs and just ordered a Trik trigger. I have some new powder on order will try VV N350 and report back. Will report back after I load some new rounds, clean and update the springs and trigger.
