  1. I think what is needed is a statement of objectives for the classification from USPSA/SCSA. Once we know what the classification goals should represent ( and over time ); then the other pieces fall in place. i.e. metrics and scope of participants to produce that outcome. Without a clear understanding of the peak times should produce as a cross section, it is just speculation and our own personal points of view that get bantered about. If the above exists, lets use that as a starting point or perhaps we can help craft one.
  2. Interesting. I'm building an AR9 platform with ESSB / Eclipse so you validated one of my experiments already.
  3. I have the same conclusion. I use it in a dvc STI open with 7lb spring. Sometimes I will bump to 4.0 of N310. The load you and I describe is essentially identical to the Atlanta arms 100gr steel challenge load.
  4. From what I read they are marrying an AR9 barrel with a new lug in the receiver. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=6769240739760642&id=375171345834312&m_entstream_source=timeline
  5. Having the optic closer to the shooter will give your faster target acquisition. On my scorpion I even modified the rail mount for the c-more to move it farther back. I have never heard of using the optic mounting location as a means to manage muzzle flip. I guess you could think of it as a weight that you can customize, but seems like the wrong approach in choosing where to mount the optic. Note how I took 1/3 of the rail mount off and yet still have the 2 mounting screws. It is a PITA to clean because I need to remove the mount. For me, this made a huge different. Ignore the file marks on the mount. With a new coat of paint on the mount it looks great. PS, the grip tape helps me lock in my thumbs forward facing. I'm a lefty shooter. Stock comparison:

Another chassis to consider that also follows the same strategy that @zzt ( Steve ) suggested is Taccom. There offerings work with any buffer tube / butt plate setup and there offer their own adjustable accessories as well. You can setup your PCC and .22 Rifle almost identical. https://taccom3g.com/product-category/22-components-and-accessories/for-ruger-1022/
  7. Volusia has a full assortment of Steel challenge, USPSA, Action steel and long range rifle. Nice people. https://www.volusiacountygunclub.com
  8. Just bought Eclipse yesterday. OpticsPlanet has a good price and 10% off if you call them and ask or sign up for first time customer.
  9. I shoot 82pf out of my Ruger PCC. 100gr Berry's on top of 2.5 of N310 powder. Stock internals ( spring, bolt, tungsten ). 5" barrel with shroud. The gun will go as low as 2.0gr but I get some issues with burst fire as the bolt does not reset the trigger even with trigger upgrades. I was able to get to GM in PCCO in 3 months with this combination. Shoots great despite being a little heavier than best of breed AR15 platforms. Don't worry about the weight of the stock, the balance is already screwed up due to the heavy bolt and the mounting of the removable barrel. That should get improved with the new Taccom offering 1Q/2022
  10. I typically run an 8MOA and sometimes 12MOA dot with my SC guns. Do any of those optics allow for a large MOA dot ? I'm open to the idea of moving on from the slide ride, but the interchangeable dot modules and flexibility seem to still be above the others from what I have seen,
  11. I can give you a data point that I have used their ULW in steel challenge with CCI HV / SV and eley Force / Contact without any problems at all. I also used a Kidd bolt.
  12. I'm on the fence w/the mamba-x vs traditional mamba with rail. Reasoning is freedom of ability to mount optic fore / aft. With the mamba-x pre-drilled, you only get a single position for such as c-more slide ride. Probably not an issue for most, but I'm partial to having my optic closer to the rear of the gun than most. PS, current VQ Scorpion runs HV and SV. I prefer SV @BentAero+1 on the VoltKrak
  13. These are the two mounting configurations I am trying to compare. Based on rough approximations, the c-more slide ride on the mamba-x will be forward about .75 inch from the extreme rear most position I have mine installed.
  14. Yes, I am specifically wondering how it sits when using mamba-x upper with NO RAIL. I like mine super far back. I have a scorpion with the rail. I am wondering where the mamba-x upper holes / sight would sit relative.

  16. Sorry but mamba-x has no rail and is a fixed position. That is a mamba with rail.
  17. I'm curious on the mamba-x ( no rail / pre-drilled ) how far forward or back the c-more slideride sits. Anyone have a pic of one mounted ? I tend to like it as far rear as possible to the point where the back of the c-more is almost flush with the back of the slide. thanks
  18. Absolutely true. I've had the front screw loosen and this is exactly what happens.
  19. Another piece of data: I run the VQ drop in TG9 trigger; Recently I had my ruger PCC go full auto with a super super light load ( 75pf ) I was testing. With 900+ power factor I have no problems. I have several thousand rounds through this combo. I'm not a trigger geek. There is some relationship where the bolt does not come all the way back and reset the trigger. The trigger then follows the bolt forward and bang. Originally the TK / Mcarbo enhanced buffer pad I thought was the culprit and it was for the loads I shoot, but even with the stock black pad, it went full auto w/the 1.8gr n310 95gr round testing My VQ took alot of tweaking by VQ to achieve their stated 2lb pull weight. It is sensitive to burst fire.
  20. SOLVED: I borrowed a friends stock Ruger pcc rifle for testing and installed my problematic TG9 trigger assembly and had zero burst fires. After some soul searching I started swapping parts, weighing parts, and measuring parts. I use an mcarbo shock buffer at the rear of the recoil spring. https://www.mcarbo.com/ruger-pc-carbine-shock-buffer.aspx it is a small amount thicker ( .120 ) than the stock buffer. This is apparently enough to keep the bolt from fully cycling and reseting the hammer in the TG9 trigger assembly, especially with stronger ammo pf100+ and is most frequent at pf135. Swapped mine to stock and I get to enjoy the capabilities of the VQ trigger without the drama of burst fire.
  21. Going Saturday PM and starting off on the mighty outer Limits ! Could very well be an early dumpster fire;
  22. From a shooter registration point of view 'x' should not be used, but I had a first hand experience a few years ago where I registered and showed up to the east coast championship SC match ( level 2 ). Upon check in they told me that my USPSA/SCSA membership was expired and I had some period of time to renew it else my scores would be invalid. My results showed a class 'x' when match results published. I rapidly renewed and all was good. The net.net is there was some kind of backend validation that the club or SCSA did that validated and put me in 'x' class based on expiration status.
  23. @chrsb How are the EEP-100 working out ? Have you had a chance to use them ?
  24. Is there much difference other than appearance coating between the eclipse vs competition offerings from Hiperfire ? https://www.hiperfire.com/triggers/hipertouch-family/
