  1. Now with my shorter barrel set up I can hook my index finger around the end of the handguard, but I am thinking a small hand stop will help me to remember to pull the stock into my shoulder. I am so use to shooting my s&w 15-22 that I am having to retrain myself to hold on a little tighter.
  2. We set up for tomorrows USPSA match tonight, so I ran the plate rack a dozen times after we were done. It seems to be running pretty well with the new Taccom tension barrel, so I guess I will shoot PCC tomorrow instead of Limited 10 This will be my first USPSA match with it (however I have used it some, in our local Tues night league etc.) so I am pretty excited. It's going to be weird not reloading 5 times in a stage LOL
  3. We use 2x2 wood. Not as heavy to haul around, and easy to fix
  4. I don't know if you looked at them yet But the faxon passed the plunk test I gave it with everything but an extra long 147gr. A little cheaper than some of the others also. https://www.rainierarms.com/faxon-firearms-9mm-saami-light-tapered-4150-qpq-barrel-16/
  5. In all the homework I have done for building my guns, if you want good quality and less expensive I would get a Faxon. I buy a lot of stuff from Rainier Arms, because they have very fair prices, and support local events, plus their sponsored shooters are a pretty good bunch of guys, so I don't mind helping that program.
  6. Red dot re-sighted in on the new set up, it was fairly close to begin with. I also put my 3x spitfire on my other upper/old barrel, and it was fairly close from being on my s&w 15-22 But I was having trouble with the Elftmann trigger not always resetting. So I lengthened the stroke a little, and will see if that cures it.
  7. Finally got a few minutes to switch everything around The new Taccom tension barrel is on the Odin Works upper with the Odin Works forearm cover The Rainer Arms stainless 16" barrel and VG6 is on the Jones Arms Kronos upper with the Aero Precision forearm. The new weight is 6lb 4.4oz vs the old weight of 7lbs 5.5oz (However I discovered that the charging handle may have been touching for the old weigh in, so it might have been even heavier before) Pics to follow
  8. Anyone have any new info? My son just ordered one in 40cal I am anxious to see and shoot it.
  9. The most notable difference between the BSF and the Taccom tension is going to be the $$$ I was looking at the BSF before the Taccom came on the scene, and decided I can't afford to be that light LOL The Taccom tension barrel is a lot more in my price range.
  10. No I want to switch uppers, and I left the spanner wrench for my aero precision barrel nut at my buddy's shop. I just got it back late last night. I hope to build/switch everything around this weekend.
  11. Most of the really long ones are probably "pinned and welded" on a shorter barrel to make them legal rifle length
  12. It's this one in 12.5" https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/forend-amp-handguard-parts/handguards-amp-rails/ar-15-o2-lite-free-float-forend-keymod-prod88143.aspx
  13. Does anyone have any experience with this Battle Arms upper? It's a lot of money, but its billet, a real nice looking piece, and only weighs 6.3oz
  14. 5lbs will be a little bit of work and a little more money. 6lbs is an affordable/reasonable goal LOL
  15. Here is a fairly recent thread on this subject.
  16. Nice. I was hoping to get mine on tomorrow. But I should probably wait, because we have a 2 gun match on Tuesday, and I don't know if I will have time to get it sighted in.
  17. I am using a Next level, it has pretty big handles. I chose it because they also make one for my s&w 15-22, if I ever get rich enough to buy some upgrades for it.
  18. No I did not I have heard and read "it's the same as" or "rebranded faxon" before, but have never heard Taccom spoken of in that manner.
  19. How many/what companies are using the Faxon rebranding it for their own?
  20. Out of stock now. It will be interesting to hear how these do long term. So far I am very happy with my Elftmann, but getting something else for my next build is very tempting when its half the price.
