  2. Thanks to everyone that responded to my questions...This provides me a much more clear understanding of the why’s and how comes related to plated vs. coated....For 10 + years I have been buying to main bullets from X-Treme - their 147gr plated for suppressed shooting and the 124gr HPCB for PPC and handgun....With their recent changes they now charge shipping and because of their reduced discounts on Black Friday this year (10% vs. 20% in years past) my usual once a year order, this year, was sizably smaller.... A forum member here recommended RMR as an alternative so I have my first 1000 piece order from RMR in transit (free shipping) and I am excited to give this very affordable alternative a try... Thanks again everyone for taking the time to respond to my questions...
  3. Ten days and counting....I pre-ordered one about 8 weeks ago and the Dillon rep. provided an “estimated” press cost with a 9mm set up at $1999 (I think)......Hoping they will be able to honor the estimated pricing they provided......Mark
  4. I am an old fart that has reloaded for about 40 years and of course when I started the primary handgun shooting sport was PPC (Not PCC) and I loaded and shot thousands of rounds of 148 HBWC over 2.7gr. Of Bullseye For my 38Spl S&W revolver......In fact I still have several thousand rounds of Zero and Hornady bullets in my reloading inventory... Today related to pistol I mainly load plated bullets for match's and practice.....I read so much about build up in pistol and PCC compensators and muzzle breaks (and I currently load and shoot PCC on a regular basis) so in laymen's terms can you help me understand the advantage of a coated bullet like Blue Bullets over a completely (lead based is not exposed) plated bullet....I ask because it would seem to this simple minded guy that a plated bullet would leave much less residue in a pistols comp or a rifles muzzle break than would a coated bullet because I would think that the “coating” on a Blue Bullet type bullet would leave more residue.... One guy I shoot with every month at a local Steel Challenge match shoots a GMR-15 and only shoots Blue Bullets...He is always talking about having to “chisel” (his word not mine) out the build up in his comp every so often.... My hope is no one will bash me for asking what may be a stupid question but this one has me wondering why coated bullets have become so popular and what have I missed that I need to learn more about....Thanks in advance...Mark
  5. New Dillon catalog (Blue Press) just arrived and Dillon has raised their price on the Super 1050 to $2000 ($1999.99 so you might as well say $2k)...Will have to look at last months catalog but I am thinking that is a $120.00 price Increase in one month...Will be interesting to see what the price for the 1100 will be since up to this point they have only provided an estimated price at release... The price on the RL550C went up from $440.00 to $510 also.....OUCH.....Mark
  6. IronPony - Thanks for this post...I usually order from X-Treme but just placed my first order with RMR....Great price and free shipping...Ordered 1000 rounds to try before I hurt my postal ladies feelings......Mark

    P365 For CCW

LawDog - You might want to check Vedder Holsters website. They have 20% off right now..I carry everyday IWB at 4 o-clock with their Rapid Tuck design...They also make holsters specifically for the P365 SAS....Mark
  8. X-Treme Bullets now has 10% off all products once you load into your cart......For the most part this covers their shipping rates...Mark
  9. X-Treme Bullets had 20% off last year but so far no discount offered or provided...I do know that last year you had to load what you wanted into your cart before any discount would show up...Will check again at 3 am when I get up.....Mark
  10. Guys - I just received my first shipment from Todd of brass I sent to Todd for sorting and cleaning....AMAZING is the first word that describes what he returned to me...My brass was unsorted range brass from a coupe of local ranges where I shoot on a regular basis and I called myself cleaning this brass.. Nope- Nope- Nope - Todd CLEANS brass as compared to what I thought was clean brass and he has a sorting process that gets 99+% of the “less than desirable or you sure do not want to reload this type or brand brass” culled out so if you need brass or have brass - contact Todd....and the cool part id the brass he scrapped out of the brass I sent him was replaced by his on hand sorted brass AND he provided me a credit for the scrap value of my brass he culled.... I will be sending Todd another 10,000 rounds of my brass over the next 2-4 weeks.....This guy has the best brass for reloaders...That is why his stock sells out so fast....Thanks Again Todd - You Sir are a Great Asset to this Forum......Mark
  11. Just ordered two myself...Thanks guys for this thread and posting this preventive solution...Mark

  13. Sarge - would this not be covered under Dillon’s no-BS lifetime warranty since you are using it on a 650?....Mark
  14. Todd - PM sent....No rush...When you have time Sir...Mark
  15. Hoops - I am going to share with you A little different perspective based on my short experience of running a monthly match with only Two bays - yep two bays.... Each month I select four or five courses of fire that will be shot. The weekend before our monthly match I go to the range and pre-mark with various colored spray paint each course so when it comes time to move the targets it can be done by anyone....The day before the match I go and set up one course in each bay so there is no set up required the morning of the shoot...Now all the steel, bases, uprights, and hangers are mine and all are 3/8” AR500...I use four different steels 8” round, 10” round, 12” round, and 18”x24” rectangle. All courses are five targets with the stop plate identified by the red post....We average 25-40 shooters each month and usually are finished 3 hrs after we start....We shoot 5 cycles per stage and since we only have two bays we always have two squads....The squads switch to the opposite bay after they shoot the first bay....After both squads have shot both courses the firing line is cleared and everyone heads down range to move the bases, uprights, hangers, and specific plates to the pre-painted matching color stakes already marked..Others follow behind with a coat of paint and within 5 minutes we are shooting again.... We follow the same process but after each shooter has shot the four different courses everyone goes down range again BUT this time both bays are set up with the exact same “speed shoot course”....This is the final stage everyone will shoot and it, like all the other stages contains five targets total...The main difference is these five targets are usually fairly close together allowing some really really fast times which is always a fun way to end the day..... We post times as each squad finishes each course on a huge white board that is mounted on a wall just behind the shooting lines where people get to see their scores while they are reloading their mags.....When we are done I usually have 5-6 folks that will help me load all of my equipment and we are done for the month....I always send out an email to all participants (I get each shooters email when they sign up to shoot) two weeks in advance of the next scheduled shoot as a reminder and we always shoot on the fourth Saturday of each month.....I have been running this shoot with the help from the range owner for the last 10 months (range owner gets all of the entry fees to pay for his range insurance and porta-jon which is fine by me because I just love the opportunity to run the match and watch everyone shoot) and he and his son always help run the match....Cost $10.00 per gun..... The Pre-planning work I do makes our shoots fun and fairly fast.... So far the smallest crowd we have had was 15 shooters but it was also a nasty weather day....Hope this helps you in your quest....Mark Oh - almost forgot to mention - every shooter is allowed one mulligan per course shoot if it is needed....Mulligans can only be used once per course and it only applies if you have a weapon malfunction or you run out of ammo when shooting a string....This makes it a lot of fun because people get that second chance...We also drop the highest time and score the four best....No movement required in our stages and if you choose to stat at low ready ( do not have a holster or do not feel comfortable drawing) we simply add one second to each strings time....Mark
  16. So guys I have a question. My Tac-Sol Aluminum compensator just arrived and I was just going to throw it in the gun stuff drawer but I had an idea...... what would happen if I drilled out the center bore to lets say twice the size it is now....Would this reduce the lead build up and allow accuracy to remain the same as if the pistol or rifle had no comp? Seems it is worth a try since I had decided after reading this thread that Iwas not going to use this comp....... Thoughts, comments, concerns.....Am I just asking for other problems.... I will not do this until I receive feedback from this brain trust......Thanks. Mark
  17. Great information in this thread....I just purchased the Tac-Sol comp and it is scheduled to arrive this week....Guess I will toss it in the “extra parts and accessories” box rather than messing up my pistol and rifle accuracy.....Thanks guys. Mark
  18. Yes. If you watch GunBroker and search under P365 XL there are several dealers that separate the complete upper from the complete lower and sell each in separate auctions. One dealer provides two factory 12 round XL mags with his lower units. The one I bought for $199.00 came with one 12 round XL mag and the factory box also. Dealer kindly provided box because the lower carries the SN#....Mark
  19. Love my P365 and always carry it with the 12 round extended mag so when the P365XL came out and SIG confirmed that the P365 and the P365XL uppers and lowers would interchange I decided to grab a P365XL lower that was on GunBroker for $199......Ordered four of the standard 12 round base plates from SIG for $5.00 each and now I am set up......Have over 800 rounds through the P365 variant and another 240 rounds through this variant with ZERO issues......Mark
  20. Laxman. I was also talking to him about the 750 vs. the 650. Are the priming systems on the 750 and 650 different? I have a 650 but know nothing about the 750. If they are different I may have gotten this messed up in my head and posted the wrong information... Also Sir if I may ask what are the differences in the RL vs. the Super and are you aware of what went away on the Super that might be coming back to the 1100?...Thanks Mark
  21. So this comment came up when I was talking to Dillon last week. The Dillon gentleman told me that one of the key features that the 1100 will have is a priming system that is almost identical to the old RL1050 not the current Super 1050. He said that the RL 1050 priming system was less problematic than the Super 1050 and that is why they are reverting back to this type of priming system. He went on to say that once you get everything dialed in on the Super 1050 the primer issues are significantly reduced. I do not have or have ever loaded on a RL 1050 or a Super 1050 so I cannot comment on this one way or another....If anyone here has experience with both can you please chime in with your comments and feedback as to what the gentleman at Dillon told me.....Thank. Mark
  22. Kema - Great question that I neglected to ask. I also wonder how often they stop the system to lube critical parts/areas....My fault for not asking more question. I have Peter’s direct extension so I may call him back in the coming days to ask a few more questions.....If I do Iwill post that information in this thread...Mark
  23. I spoke with Peter at Dillon Precision (super professional and nice) and he shared with me two updates related to the Dillon RL1100 press... 1 - They have a RL1100 set up in the Engineering area at Dillon and he said at his last check that unit had completed slightly over 1,900,000 cycles with no breakages or stops with the exception of one spring that occurred post 1 million cycles. He said they plan on continuing to run the machine until they have a major breakage. 2 - As I placed my pre-order for my RL1100 in 9mm he told me for that specific caliber I was number 34 on the pre-order list and he did not know the total number of RL1100 pre-orders for all calibers combined...when I asked when he anticipated the release of the RL1100 and he said right now they are shooting for sometime in December...... Thought I would share this update I received from Dillon on 10/15/19.....Mark
