  1. Ok Guys - Hear me out on this thought process. The primer hole is larger and we understand why. We remove the crimp with a swage or cut it out so that we can successfully reload this piece of brass. By doing so are we eliminating the “fail safe” that was put onto that piece of brass because the primer hole was larger than normal because it was loaded as a non-toxic round. If this brass is loaded with a medium to high power factor, are we in fact setting ourself up for a possible problem. Thoughts?
  2. Just learned something new myself. Great to know about this because I have a lot of 40S&W range pick up brass that eventually one day I will reload. I will be on the lookout for this - now. Thanks for posting and providing the pictures.
  3. We were told about 6-12 months ago price increases were coming but I am really surprised as to the most recent prices for various pistol and rifle smokeless powders. Most have gone up at least 25% and some have almost doubled. As primers start to slowly come down (very slowly) powder is going up. Makes me pause when I get ready for a range trip now as compared to several years back when I carried a variety of guns and lots of ammo. Just hope the powder prices will settle and maybe eventually come back down (supply vs. demand).
  4. Rebel 17 user here also. Love my rubber lined tumbler when wet tumbling.
  5. .355 for all - I only shoot Precision Delta jacketed bullets
  6. It looks like the copper jacket separated from the lead core - just my opinion.
  7. Will at FW Arms is always looking for ways to make reloading better IMO. He is a SUPER great guy to talk with and stands behind his products. Has anyone ordered and tried one of these new 9mm Expander Dies yet? If so can you provide feedback if it works as well as Will describes in his description. My plan is to order one soon but currently my post Christmas funds prevents me from ordering one today. https://fwarms.com/shop/reloading/expanding-dies/f-w-arms-9mm-carbide-expander/
  8. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Agree 100% - Exactly what these gentlemen said…..
  9. Over the last two years I have run 3.5gr of 231 under a 124gr Precision Delta JHPV2 loaded at 1.10” and have shot 5000+ rounds with zero FTF or FTE in my PPC and in my non red dot SIG P320X5 pistol BUT After installing a Holosun 507COMP on my SIG P320X5 pistol last month and taking it out to sight it in and shoot it some (stock springs throughout) the 3.5gr load of 231 under the 124gr Precision Delta HPV2 had on average one FTF or FTE per 20 round mag. I think this occurred because of the added weight on the slide created by adding the Holosun. As a result I loaded 200 rounds of 3.8gr of 231 under the same PD 124gr HPV2 bullet at 1.10” and all 200 rounds functioned perfectly. Now I have about 8000 rounds that will be used for PPC (3.5gr load). I am going to run another 200 rounds using the 3.8gr of 231 through the P320X5 before I load up the planned 2000-3000 rounds that will be dedicated for pistol use just to make sure it is the perfect round (no FTFor FTE). Once I shoot up the 3.5gr. loaded rounds, I will load all future rounds at 3.8grs of 231 so I do not have to worry about keeping up with two different 9mm loads that I shoot in competition.
  10. I send all of my brass to Todd at A+ Brass (one of this forums great suppliers in classifieds) and when he sends it back it is ready to load. Todd turns my brass around super fast and his prices (ask him for a quote based on your needs) are amazing IMO. So far Todd has processed over 50,000 pieces of brass for me.
  11. I will not be renewing my membership when mine expires in May based on the new price.
  12. IMO - for this situation this is the first $30.00 I would spend to see if it will fix this issue.
  13. I shoot the 686+ Performance Center 5” that utilizes moon clips and for the past 10 years I have utilized a 125Gr. Plated bullet from Extreme (link below). Good news is they are on sale right now (10% off) with free shipping. https://www.xtremebullets.com/357-38-125-FP-p/xc38-125fpcan-b0500.htm
  14. If you have an Academy Outdoors in your area and you want/need some M855 ammo, check your local store. My local stores still have the 20 round boxes and the 200 round bulk boxes in stock and they have not raised their prices. Cost is $0.60 a round for the 20 round packs and $0.58 a round for the bulk packs.
  15. I wish (to late now) I had bought a BL550 when I first looked at this reloader. That was several years back when they were $249.99. My thought was to hand prime my brass and then use the BL550 to drop my powder charge (manually - which I like) and then seat and if necessary taper crimp the case - allowing me to manually move the process myself. IMO - if I was only reloading 308 and only reloading 500 rounds a year - I would seriously consider the BL550. The caliber conversion kit for the 550 is a little less than they are for the 650……Just my thoughts… And now I am going to look again to determine if I should reconsider buying a BL550 before they go up another 10% come January 1, 2024 (Dillon usually increases their product pricing between 5-10% each January 1st)…..
  16. +1 ^^^^^ I had this happen earlier this year and when it did I just made sure my “swaging thingie” was set on my RL1100 and it fixed the issue. Usually my swage thingie is not set to engage brass when I am loading 9mm because I only load sorted brass that I had Todd at A+ Brass sort for me - but Winchester brass is included in my sort list that Todd sends back to me from my bulk brass. Since this occurred I now leave my swage tool set to verify I do not have any tight primer pockets. I also ONLY use CCI primers which are harder than the Federal primers (as I know we all already know this)…..I cannot afford Federal Match primer prices
  17. Forum Moderators/Administrators - May I ask for your assistance please. It seems every time I post anything related to “Dillon Precision”, forum member Joe4d feels the need to post negative comments. I view this to be unnecessary harassment. Thank you
  18. I will say that when my annual membership expires in 2024, at these new membership prices, I more than likely will allow my membership to expire and start shooting IDPA again…..unless I become a M or GM over the next 10 months
  19. Joe - You are 100% right - this was not something I thought about when I was typing my post. Thanks for pointing this out - good call out on my oversight.
  20. High quality products when you receive them - But - You will need to call daily if you want your order to ship. I ordered “in-stock” sights and it took me 6 weeks to receive them. Will not order from Wiland again.
  21. Hope I am wrong but I bet the total membership reduces by 10% - 20% as a result of this increase - but this may be what the board is wanting - less members paying more money now could reflect the same total amount of $$’s coming in with less monthly magazines going out each month which saves on printing and mailing costs. Bottom line $$’s improves with less members. Guess we will know more about this in the next 24-36 months…..if the BOD continues to publish membership numbers in the magazine going forward like they have up to this point.
  22. This thread has me adding a CO2 extinguisher to my Wal-Mart list and it also will ensure that going forward I will spray my brass in my dedicated Tupperware plastic container outside of my reloading machine area. More importantly - I will make DAM sure my powder hopper top is ALWAYS securing on. Cannot imagine what would have happened if the OP had had an extra large (taller) powder hopper that was full with the top off….. (maybe nothing but one never knows because reading this thread took me aback with pause)…..
