  1. I have a custom Para P16 that I have had for years. It shoots great and have used it to shoot limited in the past. Mags can be a little finicky though in my experience.
  2. yes, water and snacks. I cant make it past the second stage without a doughnut
  3. I'm not sure if this makes sense, but I'll put it out there. Sometimes you have to try a few things to see what you shoot best. I've tried a few different platforms and shoot best with a 2011 style pistol, so I'm sticking with that. I thought I really wanted a CZ and tried one for a few matches and hated it real quick.
  4. Hi Power Jack, thanks for the tip on the JHP's. I wondered why I saw a lot of people that hand load shooting JHP's.
  5. Lots of people recommend an Aftec extractor upgrade too.
  6. I started with an M&P. Reasonable price, reliable and inexpensive mags.
  7. I had my eye doctor give me a prescription that makes the front sight in focus, but at the sacrifice of having a slightly blurry target picture. At the usual distances of USPSA, it usually works out just fine.
  8. 9mm DVC 3 Gun or DVC Limited would be my choice
  9. Cant remember the last time I competed with a .45. Once I tried a 9mm 1911 there was no looking back for me.
  10. are all the Infinity grips carbon steel now? They used to be stainless
  11. I'm guessing about $100 more to get a finish on them? Any suggestions for where to send them?
  12. I started to wear earplugs under my electronic muffs. Too late, I'm half deaf from years of shooting. Wish I would have done this sooner. My only complaint is my sunglasses dig into my head bad after an hour at a match.
  13. My Birthday is coming up, think I'll ask my wife to get me a medium backpack so I don't have to actually pay for one!
  14. I had some luck with a 90 degree mount to clear the ejection port area
  15. I learned this the hard way last match. I ended up taking a zero on the stage after shooting 5 stages really well killing any chances for a decent finish.
  16. I started in Production with an M&P. I've since tried everything except PCC. I think different platforms suit different shooters and you have to find out what is comfortable. I like using an open holster and find mag changes so much easier in a 2011 than a 1911. I tried a DA/SA platform for a while and was horrible, instant improvement with my 2011, so I've been shooting that most of this year. As I get older and cant see my sights like I used to, I'm considering a dot for next season.
  17. I see a lot of the DAA medium at the indoor shoots I attend. I think the large one would be a little bulky in the lane area compared to the medium
  18. I'm pretty new to the forum, so hopefully this is in the correct area. I talked to SVI about their grip today. They have stopped producing metal grips in Stainless unless it is on a complete custom pistol, then they will use stainless. Their metal grips are 4140 material now. Is it safe to assume these grips will rust quickly and not have the same strength and longevity as a stainless grip. For that reason I'm considering Phoenix Trinity since they still offer a Stainless grip. I also hear PT is a one piece construction vs 2 piece that SVI uses. Are there any issues with the 2 piece grips breaking? Any advice would be appreciated.
  19. Great idea on the fishing backpack. Thx.
  20. The STI DVC Steel released this year will shoot factory Ammo with very little recoil. Nice gun. The only limiting factor is you would be open minor. I put a double alpha Quinn mount on my open gun and it lowers the dot quite a bit.
  21. New addition. CZ Shadow Target II from CZ Custom Shop. Added some VZ Grips and Springer Base Pads
