  1. If this was, as I believe, an over charge situation (double charge) I would expect that at the instant of ignition, the slide and barrel would begin to unlock allowing even more of the case to become unsupported, leading to the results shown in the pictures of the ruptured case. I know that the slide/barrel are still locked as they begin to recoil but the unlocking begins very early in the sequence.
  2. I've experienced "tipping" problems with the McCormick followers in 7 rd. magazines....... I have several Wilson 8 rounders and so far they have been great. I'm going to try a couple of Tripp's 10 round mags, I like the metal to metal slide lock feature. Thanks or all the info:)
  3. Based on the greatly enlarged primer pocket I would say double charge...........VERY high pressure!
  4. I've been accused of being anal...........guess it's true:) I do remember reading many years ago that Jim Clarke only cleaned pockets after the third reloading...............
  5. Which are the best 10 round single stack .45 magazines? Thanks
  6. Since there seems to be very little data for E3 in handguns, I'm interested in learning what other E3 users are loading...........
  7. Just a quick FYI.......... In order to compare the "clean burning" characteristics of E3 and Beye, I loaded 6 rounds of Beye (5.5 grains, 200 gr. Xterme plated FP, Fed LP primer, OAL-1.230) and 6 rounds of E3 (3.8 grains, 200 gr. xtreme plated FP, Fed LP primer, OAL 1.230). I then fired 6 rounds of the Beye load throught my previously cleaned 625JM and closely inspected the chambers, barrel, under the extractor, and the empty cases for unburned powder and debris. As expected there was almost no debris found. After cleaning the 625JM I fired 6 rounds of the E3 load, upon inspection almost no debris was found. Granted 6 rounds doesn't tell much but at least I can now expect that the E3 powder won't be any worse than Beye. No chrono data and no accuracy comparison yet.
  8. I see where you're going................
  9. The few TKs that I have also had "lips" that I stoned off.............mine are blued.
  10. My new Starline brass came with an "instruction" sheet that specifically suggested chamfering the outside and inside of the mouth of new brass to avoid the slightly irregular and sharp edges sometimes present on new brass.
  11. OK, so now I have a 25-2 (Model of 1955), the 625 (Model of 1989), and a 625 JM............color me happy!
  12. Probably wouldn't take a "good" attorney, just a mediocre one:)
  13. Years ago I bought a NIB 625 model of 1989, kept it a while then gave it to a good friend. A week or so ago I retrieved (actually bought it from him) it and have had the opportunity to question why I ever gave it away in the first place!!
  14. Interesting question..........staying tuned.
  15. When I run across uncentered flash holes I trash that case............don't want to risk a broken decapping pin.

  17. I've been doing it the hard way for years. somebody has to have figured out a better way.........Please share!
  18. Are there any speed loaders available for the 7 shot 686? A little pricey..............http://www.5starfirearms.com/L7-357-38-Speed-Loader-p/lf35707000.htm Any others?
  19. I have lots of exposure to 6 shot Smith 686 but nothing with the 7 shot version.......... Is the D A trigger stroke/travel different from the 6 shot version? TIA
  20. Hey guys, Late to the party here............Is there any reason not to get the Pact MK IV to use for practice/training? Thanks
  21. I know it's bulky for CCW but I'm interested in finding an IWB holster that might work......... Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim
  22. Possibly the nose on the grip safety isn't stopping the trigger from moving rearward, sometimes happens on a poorly fitted GS.
