  1. Good morning, Do any of you guys have any experience with this company or their products, especially the laser sights? Thanks, Jim
  2. I tried some AR brass in Safariland Comp 1 loaders, rims too thick, couldn't get the loader knob to rotate closed at all. I had some HKS loaders for AR brass but didn't like how loosey goosey the rounds were held, gave them away.......
  3. Any of you guys know where E3 might be found? Thanks, Jim
  4. Have any of you used/tried the Vogel trigger for Glock G17 Gen 5? Thoughts/comments? TIA Jim
  5. Check the NRA Police Pistol Combat Rule Book Section 3 for firearms/ammo requirements. https://lecompetitions.nra.org/media/8880/police-pistol-combat-rule-book.pdf
  6. There can be variability in case wall thickness which will cause crimp tension variability but not much you can do about that. As RJH posted, too much crimp can cause significant accuracy problems, so a tighter bullet to case fit will help to prevent bullet creep without having to over crimp.
  7. At least Two possibilities: Excessively expanded case mouth for bullet seating. (I use the absolute minimum case mouth expansion for seating plated/jacketed bullets.) Too little crimp, although the crimp marks indicate pretty good crimp. Keep in mind that variations in case length can and do change the crimp strength as the case length varies. Are you able to measure the diameter of the crimped case at the very edge of the case mouth and then determine exactly how much the case is crimped compared to a sized case before the case is expanded for bullet seating?
  8. ES number will be more relevant after checking more rounds.....my old Professor would say 4 samples are not enough to be statistically significant.
  9. Whatever, I don't like it nearly as much as the full screen view.
  10. Not using the load ladder but probably should be.
  11. Ouch!! That hurts way over here!!
  12. I have a Nikon 2X pistol scope mounted on the 625 and am firing from sandbags from a sturdy bench, shooting 25 yds. at a black 1 1/2" square aiming point which has a white center about 1/2" square. Holding the cross hairs in the white center of the black square. The 625 is "almost" motionless but the cross hairs stay inside the white square as each round is fired slowly using single action trigger pull. This is the same technique that I have used with other S&W revos to develop loads that give 1'" groups at 25 yards; also used same process to fire 15/16" groups from open sights on G4 G21 using Hornady Critical Defense factory loads.
  13. Thanks for all the input. Not loading to a PF but do want a load that has "factory like" recoil impulse. Got some more test loads made up, waiting for better weather for testing.
  14. The purpose is to develop a near factory power level economical load for DA practice. A round nose bullet is preferred for use in moon clips. I would be satisfied with a 200 gr. round nose if I can find a good load. As I mentioned earlier, I have one load with 185 gr. JHPs with lots of Unique that shoots in the neighbor hood of 1" groups at 25 yds. from bags but it's above factory power level so I don't want to use it.
  15. How much pressure is required to cause brass to "flow" as it appears to have done here?
  16. I have had excellent accuracy from Xtreme 125 gr. .357 bullets in my 586 & 686; 1" six shot groups from scoped guns when testing for accuracy. I hoped for similar with the 625 but no joy so far........time to try something better.
  17. Really don't think it's the revolver and I've been loading for many years so I suspect bullets first. However, one thing that I haven't checked: Most of the bullets I have been using do NOT have a crimping groove so to reduce bullet deformation I have been using a moderate crimp. Are bullets creeping forward during recoil causing variations in case tension?? Maybe I need more crimp......Gotta check that next time out.
  18. I have checked cylinder throats by passing a .451 jacketed bullet through each chamber. The bullets pass through of their own weight, when the chambers/throats are clean. Just picked up a box of Hornady 230 XTPs and a box of Hornady 185 XTPs. Will check them out. Have had super good results with Hornady bullets in other revos. I have W231, Clays, CFE , E3 and HS6 on hand. Thanks Jim
  19. I need some help in trying to develop an accurate load for my 625 PC. I have a 2x scope on it right now and so far have only one hand load that shoots about 1 1/4" six shot groups from bags at 25 yards (fired single action). That load is a jacketed 185 gr. HP with lots (ain't gonna say how much) Unique. All my lighter loads with 200 gr. FP and RN Xtreme bullets don't group much under 3 inches at 25 yards. I have tried Clays, W231 and E3 with no real improvement. Haven't located any good quality cast bullets to try yet. Thanks, Jim
  20. Hence, my search for something better............. I have plenty of full moons for ACP cases but wanted to work with AR cases if useable speed loaders exist......seems like a futile effort:(
  21. I have tried the HKS speed loaders but don't like the way the loaded rounds wiggle around.........are there any speed loaders for the .45 Auto Rim that hold the cartridges in place better? Thanks, Jim
  22. But they sold them anyway..............and no recall??
