  1. Yes you can take the entire assembly off but the alpha x lets you remove just the block and holster and leave the belt attachment you lose zero settings and there is no guessing to get them back. You dont have to rely on a mark on the belt or other means to find your "zero"
  2. Co witnessing the sights can help find the dot also. I think that would only really be a problem for people that are new to shooting with a dot and haven't developed the muscle memory to find it every time. Your natural instinct when shooting is to look for that front sight and having it there can really help finding the dot when you don't index the pistol correctly.
  3. I would have to say atlas as well. I think your money is going to go a lot further with them. Akai is doing some cool stuff with their open guns but for a limited gun I don't think its worth it.
  4. I'm jealous. If I did that in my backyard I would probably get arrested hahaha.
  5. My guess is cost somehow. Maybe saving on the tooling for creating the primer pockets in new brass.
  6. If thats approved for carry optics and your allowed 140mm mags loaded up what is separating CO from open other than 170 mm mags, the dot being slide mounted and no magwell. They really are ruining that division in my opinion. They should just make it limited optics.
  7. You may or may not have seen this but I think you got off lucky... https://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2017/02/27/amateur-gunsmithing-nearly-costs-competitive-shooter-her-life/?utm_content=bufferd1cfa&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
  8. I reload range pick up 40 brass all the time and I have only found one split case. Thats just crazy to have that many failures. I wish I had an answer for you but I have never seen or heard of anything that bad.
  9. By any chance did you get out to shoot them side by side? Very curious how that was.
  10. Adam and his crew at Atlas build a great gun. I have 2 limited guns that are identical other than finish from them. His customer service is off the charts and his product is excellent. My local club has a bunch of guys with his guns, open, limited and ss. Nobody has complained and there is a reason why there is a bunch of us. It doesn't surprise me that you so happy.
  11. The last sentence in that post is so accurate. We put on some pretty nice matches here. As much as I wish I could load to max capacity I can look past it because I love the competition and the people.
  12. If you have your race master set up perfect I would say its not worth it unless your a total gear head and have to have the newest thing. The block in the holster in the same part so it works exactly the same. The alpha x is superior in that you can remove it from the belt and put it back without removing the hanger or losing your adjustments. This I think would be nice for traveling where you would have to pack in in a bag and were worried about damage. The other advantage is getting the holster in the perfect position. It is much easier to do this with the alpha x but if your race master is perfect there is really zero advantage there. Just remember that there is nothing different with the actual retention device its exactly the same. The heart of the holster has not changed.
  13. Honestly if I didn't want to shoot production with it that would be up there.
  14. Please do, thanks Rowdy. This just seems to be the logical choice for me.
  15. I'm really leaning towards the accu shadow or the shadow 2. How is the accuracy of the shadow 2 compared to the accu shadow. Whats the big difference besides the ergonomics?
  16. Yeah I would say it has a huge impact. Not only are we all restricted at matches or not, it removes one of the biggest differences in divisions. I would say that they are mostly in the same order as far as overall results go (Yes I know that doesn't matter) but the separation is much closer. It takes away from it all in so many ways. I live in NY and just have to deal with it. And LE doesn't get an exemption at matches. Its equal for everyone.
  17. I'll definitely be messing around in Production. Not my primary division but I'll shoot it now and then. I'll will also be messing around at the range shooting plate racks and steel. Kind of just a fun gun for now but if I decided to get serious in production I don't want to regret my decision. So to be honest at this point I just want one and not sure what to get but if I had to say I would say competition based above all else.
  18. Hey everybody. Ive recently got the itch for a CZ. Right now I'm leaning towards an accu shadow or ordering a shadow 2. I am really green when it comes to CZ pistols and am currently reading everything I can find. I'm a glock guy for everything but competition and love my 2011s for USPSA. I'll probably mess around with this in production but limited is my primary division. Anyway what do you think. The accu shadows seem to be quite a bit more than the standard shadows or shadow 2 but is it worth it. Is the shadow 2 ergonomics worth it or should I just get something thats available. I'm a little lost with this one. Thanks for the help.
  19. Yes Jersey is still 15. NY is 10. When I shoot in Jersey open and limited load to 15. And carry optics now I would assume.
  20. I believe the reason they have a 300 dollar trigger job and use special parts that they don't offer to the public is because it is difficult to retain the safety of the pistol. I could be wrong about that but in their video for the pelt system they talk about maintaining the safeties and how they accomplish that in different ways when they do their in house kit. Makes me think they just can't release it for legal reasons. Again I could be completely wrong there but I agree there has to be a reason and that makes sense to me.
  21. I shoot at 2 clubs regularly on Long Island and its 10+1 for everyone. The new laws don't allow high caps in the state at all. Pre ban or not. It's a real bummer but it is what it is. We get really good a mag changes hahaha.
  22. Very nice. I have a mark III 22/45 lite open steel gun and I love it. I have the itch for a mark IV now.
  23. Not saying that there is anything wrong with it. Just saying everyone has different taste when it comes to break ins and I never know who to listen to.
  24. Thats interesting. If you read Brazos recommendation for break in he suggests getting the gun hot so it swells and breaks in. I honestly don't take much stock in so called break in periods. Doesn't matter who you ask the theories are different.
