  1. Last month there was a local USPSA match that I attended. I was in a different squad that the one with the incident but I saw the video as the shooter was wearing a helmet cam and I usually shoot with both the shooter and the RO. Anyway there was a stage that was a little tricky to clear because of walls, barrels and they recognized it right away. My buddy who is a CRO grabbed the timer and ran the entire squad which was mostly new shooters because he knew it was a tough one and he was the last shooter. When it was his turn to shoot he handed it off to another guy that we shoot with weekly. He didn't thoroughly clear the range and neither did the shooter before he handed over the timer. The RO started him with LAMR timer went off and you could hear a guy screaming NO NO NO NO NO NO in the background. The shooter is an open guy and wears double hearing protection. He said he barely heard something as the timer beeped. He drew his gun moved to the port to engage the first array and there was a guy standing behind the target. He immediately holstered his gun and had to tell the RO there was a guy down range. He told me if he didn't hear something slightly out of the ordinary as the timer beeped he would have broke the shot and that guy fixing the jammed tape gun would have taken 2 38 super comp center mass. The video was scary. I couldn't believe how close it was. The RO almost couldn't finish the day he was so shook up. If something had happened I don't doubt for a second that they both would have paid dearly as well as the club and anyone else involved. Moral of the story make sure the range is clear and do everything in your power to make it as safe as possible. Waivers or not nobody is safe even if it is truly an accident.
  2. Not sure on the berry but I would start lower than 4.8. Maybe 4.3 and go from there. Every gun is different. Your loading long for the 2011 so pressure issues shouldn't really be a problem. I just wouldn't start out at 4.8 even tho that's probably about where your going to end up.
  3. That sounds like you had a bad day.
  4. I try to cull out any Winchester whether it's win, winchester or otherwise. It seems to have a lot of crimped primers so I end up crushing them. Also probably 90% of the time it's Winchester brass that doesn't pass my case gauge. I try to avoid foreign made stuff too for case gauging issues. I don't always sort but when I do that's what I pull.
  5. Man I love it that's great. Just too bad stormtroopers have the worst aim ever lol.
  6. 100 yards with a glock 19 on a 10 inch target. I was able to get it pretty handily once I dialed in the hold over. Would love to try something farther with a 1911 platform.
  7. I have the shock bottle xl. Loading 180 ibejis. Never had a problem.
  8. I like titegroup. Just be careful as it seems to be very sensitive to bullet seating depth. I had some trouble with this in 9mm. The heads I was using had to be seated rather short. I was getting pressure signs on the primers and I wasn't even making minor pf.
  9. Should be fine. My only concern would be light primer strikes in striker fired guns and 1911 style pistols with light mainsprings which I have seen.
  10. Uspsa can be on the cheap side or wildly expensive. It really depends on what division you want to shoot and how truly competitive you want to be. When I started I was shooting production with a holster and pouches that I already had. Mind you that was great and it worked well. Then it developed into limited and I wanted to be competitive. At the end of the day its all about how crazy you want to get with your gear. You get hooked and its a sickness, be prepared. Just like anything else. You can play for cheap and have a blast or make it more and more expensive depending on how competitive you want to be and how deep your pockets are.
  11. I don't and I feel I feel I really need to start. I count during my walk through to plan for a mag change but when I'm shooting I don't. I actually completely missed a target at a recent match because I wasn't counting my shots. I didn't even see it on my walkthrough. You wanna talk about sloppy. If I was counting I would have realized I missed something. Going to start working on this.
  12. This is good...... what they said. crush with weak hand
  13. I think they are great. Excellent traction on all types of fault lines and base materials. They are great shoes. I only wear them for matches and some practice days but at the end of they day they are great shoes. Don't feel bad about purchasing these.
  14. If your picking up I have no problem going out of my way to give it to you.
  15. I would never pick up brass when there is work to be done. I just can't stand the guy that won't pick up anything all day then when you do he wants it. Just because you put your mark on it before it hits the ground doesn't mean that its yours if you don't pick up a single piece all day and then see it in my pile.
  16. Im buying my springs from shooters connection and I run a 14# recoil and a 17# mainspring both ISMI.
  17. I have an STI Edge that I bought from Dawson and have put about 3000 rounds through it. So far its run perfect and I love it. That being said I know plenty of guys with STI's mostly the DVC line that have had a lot of issues. Extraction, barrel throat, slides cracking etc. I have yet to see any issues with CK guns. The STi's are much more prevalent at my range and I have an STI I would still trust a CK out of the box more.
  18. I hate it when I put in the time to pick up brass and there is that guy that wants to pick his stuff out of your pile when he is too lazy to pick up anything himself. Not one piece, none. Either pick it up or not.
  19. Pick something you can afford and shoot it... a lot. I've seen a lot of guys running glocks with nothing more than a magwell, sights and a ghost connector doing really well. Don't forget if you commit to a 2011 that the mags are 100 plus and they need to be tuned. A lot less aggravation running a glock or equivalent.
  20. Ergonomically the SV extra wide takes the cake. But if you need a shield the PT or double tap.
  21. Extreme Shooters DVC grip is great in both size and feel.
