My First Open match+Barry mount thoughts
Glk21C replied to pivoproseem's topic in EAA / Tanfoglio Shop
I planned on mounting my C-more much the same way on my old-school 9x21 but it was a serendipity, not a slide-ride. Didn't feel like fooling with sending it back to C-more to convert or even to do it myself. Glad to see it works well. -

Follower ”modding” and increased mag. capacity
Glk21C replied to olp73's topic in EAA / Tanfoglio Shop
THANKS. I was fooling with two followers the other night based on your descriptions, now I can put some dimensions to what I did. Interesting thing, when I was testing the modded follower in a Tanfoglio mag with stock flat base plate I was able to compress the spring fully and get the legs to just about touch the bottom. But when I tried it in a mag with a basepad on it I could never get the spring to compress as much as with the non-basepad mag. I could see inside of the mag, but I have more fooling around to do to make sure the legs of the shortened follower aren't getting hung up in the base pad. We'll see. Oh, in the OEM mag with flat bottom (16 rounds in stock configuration) I was only able to get 17 rounds in, maybe 18, I have to check again. With the basepad it was 18 or 19. More to follow in the coming weeks. -

I know this is a lot to ask, but is there any chance you could post some pics of the modded follower with micrometer dimensions on it? I've played with the Tanfoglio followers some and never had reliable success with the mods so dimensions would be very helpful. Thanks! -

Big mags for my old Gold Team and Powder Questions
Glk21C replied to pivoproseem's topic in EAA / Tanfoglio Shop
1.15 OAL 7.3 gr VV350 Winchester or CCI Small rifle 130 gr MG Super FMJ RN about 170PF They are expensive (well, I think so, but when compared to an S_I mag they're not) but EAA had or has some small frame 25 round big sticks that are not too long. They are about $110 each. The build quality is far superior than that of the 25 round cz mag. And yes, the cz mag is too long. If you want a CZ 25 round mag anyway, I bought two, I'll sell you one. PM me. -
2008 Summer Blast
Glk21C replied to sbmd's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Good thing he is in the army then ey.. Na, I'm in the Air Force... but I actually have a job that takes me off base about twice a week and puts my feet on the ground vs my butt in the hummer. I was thinking it might be cool to have a "sitting in the hummer, contact left, bail out and shoot them as you see them" stage and an Aircraft fuselage stage with lots of white no-shoots to have to weave bullets through. Hmmmm, I'm thinking I have some stage planning to tinker with.... Kind of like this Sean? Had this stage at the Long Island Championships a few years ago, it was called "Scone Air". There was an activator to the left that you had to hit to get the "fuselage" door to open, then run through the fuselage shooting back and forth at the targets that were mostly on the ground, with all the no-shoots mixed among them. You can see them in the pic. At the other end, outside the fuselage was a Texas Star Artie -
The sp-o1 mags fit, but not as nicely as factory mags. You could have feeding issues with them, could. Henning has an x-long firing pin he developed for the small frame as well. I'm using it in my 9x21. Wow, $450, great find

I bought my 550 used and it came with the case feeder. No regrets here, overall it works great

I couldn't get WSR primers so I tried CCI SRP in my open gun. I noticed absolutely no difference in velocity and all went "bang" as I hoped they would

I have a G20C with a .40 non-ported barrel in it for Limited. Long loaded .40 (1.20), grams guts and pads on the factory 15 round mags, Vanek trigger, it's an awesome gun. I've had die-hard S_I users not believing what they just shot when I let them try it. One was actually mad as he dropped $3000 on a beautiful Brazos and mine cost about $1000 Good luck

From what I've been able to keep on/read over the past year, no....

Look forward to shooting with you again. Hopefully I'll see you at SummerBlast. Good Luck!

Witnesses/Tanfoglio frames are all the same size, it's the size of the magazine chamber that's different. Henning posted something about this in this forum. I can't remember the title of it though I don't mean to be picky but the size of the magazine chamber has quite a bit to do with how big the grip is, being inside the grip and all. When he said all Witnesses are the same size, I think he was talking about the currently imported ones. Found it "Small or Large frame? The factory builds every model in both large or small frame. Caliber will determine some of it and function / market another. In the US, EAA only imports large frame models, also 9mms. This is at the request of EAA and a company policy to eliminate the massive confusion they used to have with customers ordering the wrong conversion kits, parts etc. At some point they decided and asked the factory only to import large frames. This is why all current 9mms in the US are large frame. As for the rest of the world, Tanfoglio will only ship small frame in 9mm. Reason for this is because 9mm magazines function flawlessly in small frame and seem to be a troublesome child in large frame. External dimensions between large and small frame are identical. The "large frame" has a bigger chunk cut out for the magazine that is all. Since EAA have not imported the Stock II, all references you are getting regarding Stock II will as far as I understand, be "small frame". But remember, "small frame" only means it excepts small magazines. Small mags measure 1.250" x 0.800" whereas large frame measures 1.345" x 0.850". I did talk with Massimo and EAA at the last shot show and begged to change and start importing 9mms in small frame (only). If everyone knew that 9mm = small frame things would be easier. " The thread it came from is this one http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61717

No doubt the work is awesome looking and impressive but I'm still a big fan of the look of hard chrome. Call me crazy.

I've heard from a prominent custom gun builder in our sport that he'll put holes in any barrel if a customer really wants it but the effect it has is really just a lot more noise. Open guns are loud enough already....

Witness Elite 9mm Match "open conversion"
Glk21C replied to phant0m_jester's topic in EAA / Tanfoglio Shop
**I apologize right now for this question if it's something that everyone else deals with.** With the slide racker facing to the left and the c-more mount on the left, how do you remove the slide for cleaning? The racker would hit the c-more mount, wouldn't it? I don't want to believe that everyone always removes the slide racker when the slide has to come off the frame?!?! Or the c-more mount? thanks -
The Grams are great when you can find them.

Tried the new factory Witness mag tonight I mentioned above. Worked flawlessly (thank gosh...) I've been having a lot of mag trouble lately so it was a relief for one to finally work.

There are two other choices. One, Cheaperthandirt.com you can get factory cz-75 9mm 25 round mags. I have two of them, I can't say they are 100% reliable though. They cost at least $50 each if I remember correctly. Second, EAA currently has some small frame factory Tanfoglio mags, 9mm 25 rounders, in stock. I've got one coming so I haven't seen it yet. That costs about $110 each.
