  1. I honestly don't know. If it weren't usable, I wouldn't consider it a problem, but I guess you could ask the same about mag pouches forward of the hip bone that had "inserts" in them to make them unusable, too. That's probably a good question to send to DNROI, especially since the NROI blog has a post about equipment positions and magnets in production, specifically. I don't think I would personally risk having equipment in the wrong place for a match, but I get where you're coming from. It's also why I like deferring to an RM.
  2. Having issued a bump to open for this (by calling the RM, of course), the excuse was "my buddy gave me this magnet and told me to use it." "Your buddy just bumped you to open, was he shooting Production too?" "Yeah..." "Was he wearing a magnet?" "No..." "Sounds like he didn't want the competition. :)"
  3. If the magnet is there - mag or not - during the course of fire, you move to open if the magnet is in front of the point of the hip.
  4. RO: Continue with Stop / ULSC. If he didn't see a violation and no other RO working the stage did, either, it's a reshoot and a warning to the competitor calling STOP from behind the line to let the RO's do the RO'ing.
  5. What's the story on the magwell?
  6. Good point, thanks for the correction. The box is for Production.
  7. If it fits the box and makes weight, that's a good start. Does the grip include an external magwell? That would need to come off.
  8. Note: NROI had a blog post up about this/something similar, but now it's completely gone - vanished without a trace. https://nroi.org/q-of-month-results/the-production-gun-list-in-2020/ in case you can find an archive of it
  9. Changing it is different from removing it. You cannot remove the safety. You can change it.
  10. Probably needs its own thread.
  11. This depends on what the RO saw. If the RO saw the two hits on Alpha on the target as the shooter fired them, then it's "obvious to the RO which two holes were shot." If the RO did not see the hits and misses as they were fired but absolutely saw only three shots on target and it has four holes, that's a mandatory reshoot as the target cannot be scored as shot because the alphas may not belong to that competitor. It is not correct, if you didn't see the actual hits, to assume the alphas belong to the competitor, and if you're absolutely certain there were only three shots (you don't mention if the RO confirmed this... or could...), it's a reshoot. Otherwise, if the RO wasn't counting shots, it's two alpha. If the shooter wants to appeal to the RM, score the COF, pull the target, replace it, call the RM and next shooter to the line.
  12. One would hope that's his response, considering that's exactly what the rulebook says.
  13. Not a personal attack, but coming from a CRO, this concerns me. If there's not a rule AGAINST it, it's okay. 5.2.3 allows the belt to be removed between courses of fire and the safe area is the ONLY designated place to do that. Leaving the loaded mag on the table outside of a belt pouch is a DQ, period. Mags in carriers on the belt that are not handled individually are NOT DQ's. There is no requirement he bag the gun and remove it from the safe area - it is not against the rules to leave it and/or the belt there (although might be considered rude if another competitor needed to use the safe area).
  14. “Pick up the rope and assume the start position” is not a range command.
  15. At that point, require cash only from this shooter going forward, and they can only register once payment is received and processed. Delete/refund any registrations otherwise from them.
  16. Do you mean a flat black rear, or a rear FO sight with the fibers not installed?
  17. I couldn't find any recent discussion - is there any interest in a GSSF sub-forum under Other Shooting Sports? I enjoy these matches from a "pace" perspective and equate them to Steel Challenge. Often, they're worth traveling to for long weekends and enjoy somewhere I've never been before. From thread volume, it seems like this gets brought up enough it might warrant a permanent spot. Thoughts?
  18. Oh, I know. I knew it was a risk when I made the choice, but it was still faster (if I didn't DQ) for me. WHERE I decided to do the reload was a poor choice as my angle was even worse, and stumbling as I realized it sealed the deal. My "learning lesson" from it is better planning. Don't paint myself into a box with a plan that requires perfect execution - give myself a little leeway for things going wonky and make it up with clean shooting and movement.
