Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. Doesn't everyone claim their barrels are more accurate? I wouldn't worry about it that much. Even shooting a sport like USPSA the mechanical accuracy of your gun is going to be extremely low on the list of reasons why somebody shot a Delta-Mike-No shoot on a stage. People have been shooting nicely fit 1911's in bullseye competitions for many decades now, but you don't see all the 1911 shops using polygonal rifling. I'd imagine the final fitting of the gun and design of the barrel lockup plays a much more significant role in accuracy than the type of grooves that make the bullet spin.

I understand why people use thumb rests, but at the same time, this doesn't really make any sense for a competition gun at all. I guess if you really just want to shoot open minor, then go for it.
  3. Why not just shoot production when your gun is in the shop?
  4. All these photos are really making me consider converting my 9mm Limited Custom to an open blaster. I really just don't want to deal with sending it out to get a comp fitted though.
  5. I was just able to get my arched Dawson msh into my STI plastic grip and absolutely find it easier to acquire my sights. I had a flat msh on a 1911 that I sold, and found the flat just didn't work with what my hands wanted to do, and I was too stubborn to practice with it till it worked. As much as I like the arched I may eventually get a wedge to see if it feels any better, but right now I at least know I prefer arch to flat. It's always gonna come down to preference as usual. What works for one may not for others.
  6. Thanks for this. I have a big bottle of liquid chalk for the gym and a half bottle of progrip that have both dried out. Idk why I hadn't tried this yet.
  7. This is not the first time I've heard of some truly weird stuff coming out of Midway 's warehouse. Curious what the story really is on this barrel.
  8. That's a heck of a deal. My advice is to shoot it. A lot.
  9. Sell the TSO and buy 2 PT Evo grips and you're set.
  10. I'm getting 20 not reloadable in one of my tti basepads with factory guts. 19 reloadable in another tti/factory guts. And 19 reloadable with a brass Taylor freelance and factory guts.
  11. I'm a huge fan of the palm swell bogies I have on my shadow 1. I wear L-XL gloves fwiw.
  12. Ooh I hadn't seen this in my searching. It looks exactly like what I've been wanting and at a pretty nice price too. Thanks.
  13. That makes sense. I have some.vogel sights on my Glock and they're definitely my favorite set of sights.
  14. Slide lock reloads damaging an ejector is definitely good information that I wasn't aware of before. What do people do in idpa divisions where 1911's and 2011's are often reloaded at slide lock? Is the answer as simple as "just don't jam the mag in super hard"? I shot a little bit of idpa with my 1911 but never really did it enough to have any issues pop up. I guess I was being gentle because I never over inserted a mag either.
  15. This is the first time I've seen it, and I think it's one the sweetest 2011's I've ever seen. Wow.
