  1. Did you ink up a round and spin it in the chamber to see what area was making contact? Perhaps the OAL isn't the issue.
  2. TDA

    primers

I'd be fixing the gun if it only ran reliably on one specific brand of primers.
  3. I'd guess here: https://www.evergladesammo.com/
  4. Are you affiliated with them in some way?
  5. Which main spring are you using in your P226?
  6. I use 5.0 WSF with a 124gr plated at 1.140 and get 1072fps from a P226. Doesn't seem snappy to me, but I mainly shoot .40.
  7. You're not the only one, as I've never used case lube on 9mm either.
  8. I've used it for .38 Spec, .40, and .45, and it works great. I haven't used it for 9mm, but Hercules published load data for that as well.
  9. I'd guess that the knurled "nut" on top of the primer magazine tube is too tight. When it is over tightened it deforms the plastic tip on the magazine tube causing the primers to stop feeding. Loosen the nut and then turn it down until it just stops turning. You don't want any pressure on it. It will loosen up with use, so you either need to check it now and then or put a piece of tape on it so it can't loosen up. You may need to replace the plastic tip on the magazine tube if it still does not feed.
  10. There is a range near me where they allow lead only. No plated or jacketed bullets.
  11. It's only a weapon if it's pointed at someone!
  12. It came with a little ball chain that secured to the press frame and it reset with ram movement, so that wasn't an issue. I just didn't find it to be any more accurate than the Dillon powder measure, which some had claimed it was. I guess if you bought a used press that didn't come with a powder measure it would be an inexpensive way to get up and running, though.
  13. I tried an AutoDrum once and just used a Lee powder die. It was a an experiment and the Dillon powder measure quickly went back on.
  14. I'm curious as to how some seem to be sending so many live primers down the "ski jump" in the first place. I've had a few when loading LP .45 and running into a few SP cases, but other than that...
  15. I shoot Acme coated bullets in my G22. You should be fine.
  16. My viewpoint is a bit skewed as all I did was take my XL650 out of the box, set up three tool heads with Dillon dies and have loaded thousands of rounds that don't vary more than a few thousandths in COAL and have never had any issues doing so. I did break one indexer ring when a primer "ringered" on me and jammed the shell plate. I consider that an "engineered in" breakage so something more significant doesn't break or bend. I sometimes have to wonder when I see some people having a myriad of problems with their press. Especially the ones that took it out of the box and did a bunch of "upgrades" to it before they ever used it.
  17. But the addition of the bearing is what caused the problem to begin with. It wasn't a problem with the press itself.
  18. What I find interesting is that I have shot Acme, Missouri, BBI, and Bayou. They are all claimed to be Hi-Tek,but all smell different...
  19. I load on a 650 and that is exactly how I feel about double charges. If the powder measure hasn't been converted back to the old spring style and you cycle the handle consistently and positively from stop to stop it is going to work. I also empty my powder measure after each session because I want to see the powder flow into and out of the measure like water with no debris or clumps. Reading that other thread makes me shake my head with all of the screwing around going on there. Checking a powder charge every ten rounds? Weighing ten charges every time he stopped? I am not familiar with the press he was using, but if you are going to load, load! Don't keep stopping and screwing around with the press! Concentrate on what you are doing, pay attention, and just keep loading at a steady cadence. I think that sometimes people try to be so damn safe that they become unsafe. Oh yea, and running the cases through a bulge buster, (good) and then the finished rounds through a LFCD again? (why?) Just my opinion.
  20. Too much. You shouldn't have that ring around the bullet.
  21. Those are what I shoot right there. Fast shipping and a good product.
  22. I use a Bulge Buster for .40 and then load using a MBF powder funnel on a SDB and use no case lube. I load 9mm and .45 on my XL650 and have never used case lube there either. I would agree with Sarge that it's your bench not being substantial enough.
  23. Did you switch from large to small primer and forget to change the magazine tube? Edit: Actually, I believe I had a similar issue earlier this year, and powder residue had built up under the shell plate and it wasn't snapping into the detente properly each time when indexing. A good cleaning and lube fixed it.
  24. SDB also decaps and sizes on station one, and primes, expands, bells, and drops powder on station two.
