  1. I decided to post some Sport Pistol data in this thread instead of starting a new one. I had an opportunity to test some Sport Pistol powder in my custom 40 Limited gun. My "go too" load is 4.6 grains WST over a 180 grain cast HI TEK coated bullet. Felt recoil felt the same between the 2 powders. Accuracy went to Sport Pistol. Although not by much and a different day could have different results. I think WST is a little cleaner, however Sport Pistol isn't that dirty in my opinion. My conclusion, If I wanted 1 powder for both 9mm and 40. Sport Pistol would be my choice. 2. I use a 5 cavity 180 grain. I lube groove Arsenal mold. Very similar to Acme 180 NLG bullet. I have cast and shot thousands of bullets through my 40 with great results. I also HI TEK then size my bullets. I also have a Schuemann barrel. Arsenal molds are very reasonably priced and Jared is great to work with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Gentlemen, thank you! I will get some 40 data as quickly as possible. My plans are to have Sport Pistol tested in my 40 not later than next week. I will post the data in the 40/10mm section. Based on the 9mm data I am willing to bet it will be a very good, if not great powder for the 40. My plan is to test Sport Pistol with the 147 grain coated bullet as well. I have about a thousand on hand and I should test them as well. I went to WST because my LGS was out and did not know when they would have more. I friend told me about WST and when I tried it I just couldn't come up with one reason or find one data point to justify spending darned near twice the amount for a powder that had no better results (accuracy, cleanliness, consistency) than a cheaper powder. Like you R1, N320 is a very good powder, but the price was just hard to swallow.
  4. R1, I am planning to load and test this powder for my 40. I am very interested to see how Sport Pistol will compare to my current load of WST. As soon as I have to test in the very near future (hoping next week) I will post my results.
  5. My go to load is 3.6 grains Alliant Sport Pistol, 135 grain BBI at 1.120" COAL, Win SPP. My second choice I've had good success with is 3.4 grains Prima V, 135 grain BBI, 1.120" COAL, Win SPP. Before I switched to 135 BBI bullets I was using 147 grain Missouri HI TEK coated loaded with 3.2 grains Prima V, Win SPP, 1.115" COAL.
  6. My COAL is 1.120". The bullet weight makes the biggest difference in velocity. My first test loads were loaded at 1.110". I don't remember what the velocity of those particular loads were, I do know there wasn't a big difference though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Here is some data from my recent range trip testing Alliant Sport Pistol. The more I shot and load this powder, the more I am liking it. It's cleaner than Prima V. Very close to N320. It seems to be more consistent than N320 and every bit as accurate possibly more accurate. I will need to do a side by side comparison to know for sure. 9. Yes, it's impulse was very similar. I really couldn't tell the difference between them. Also, this powder meters very well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I forgot to mention. I shot a match over the weekend, about a 160 rounds. My pistol was as clean as VV N320 and cleaner than Prima V. Not that Prima V was all that dirty anyway. So far I'm very happy with this powder. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. For those interested I loaded and chronograph a couple loads using 135 grain BBI bullets. I didn't think to take any pictures of my groups, but the accuracy is very good. I loaded 3.6 and 3.7 grains. below are the results. 12. I have not tried the lighter springs. The slide is easier to rack. More importantly I like the way pistol shoots now.
  13. I am using 18RS 18# Yellow Recoil Spring and 97060 Stainless Steel Guide P-09. I have to admit, before I shot the pistol with the new guide rod and recoil spring I really wondered if I just wasted $31.00. I was very surprised how much better the P09 shoots. I am very glad I replaced the factory guide rod and spring with CGW SS guide rod and recoil springs.
  14. I have a CZ P09 milled for a Delta Point Pro reflex sight I shoot for carry optics. I haven't noticed any change is slide speed or reliability. I put a CGW stainless guide rod with a lighter 18 pound recoil spring. Still running great with no change in reliability.
  15. I had this same problem when I started shooting USPSA a couple years ago. I switched from benchrest shooting to shooting handguns and everything I shot went to the left. I would have very good groups just to the left of center. What I did is first I shot my handguns from a rest and determined the guns were shooting straight so I determined it had to be my technique. I worked on my grip and practicing in dry and live fire. After a short while I noticed my groups started to shoot to center. In my opinion Memphis Mechanic is right if the gun is shooting straight it's something in your technique and for me this proved accurate.
  16. I'm shooting CO with a CZ P 09. I had my slide milled as the dove tail mount had the reflex sight sitting higher than I cared for. I personally don't care for co-witnessing the dot with the iron sights, it's a distraction for me.
  17. I shoot CO using a Delta Point Pro for same reasons you mentioned. I'm shooting with the larger 7.5 moa and there is no disadvantage with longer shots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I've never had that problem either. I throw 10-20 powder drops and take the average. If good I start loading and will check every 100-200 rounds to make sure nothing's changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. I'm switching from VV N320 to Prima V. My groups are better and it's not what I consider a dirty powder like Tightgroup or Unique. Is it as clean as N320, almost. The better accuracy and feels as soft as N320 is plenty of reasons for me to phase out VV powder. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I can't speak to the viability of a Phantom. I have and use a CZ P09 for carry optics. I went with the P 09 because at the time CO had a weight limit of 35 ounces (now 45). More importantly the feel of the P 09 was what sold me. The P 09 felt so good I just had to have it. Also, with springer base pads I can load 22 rounds in each magazine. I have no regrets with the P 09.
  22. I shot my first match this past weekend in carry optics and I really enjoyed it. It's a division I am planning to stay with it. I will to up my dry fire training so I can get my reloads smoother and pick the dot up quicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I use Delta Point Pro 7.5 on my milled slide CZ P09. This set up is easy to use Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I used the "older style" in Sig0431 post my first year shooting USPSA Limited Minor. The pouches worked just fine. My only complaint was and is they seem to loosen at times. They are easily tightened up though. Also, a little locktite would stop that as well. I stopped using them when my custom Limited 2011 was finished and I bought a new holster and mag pouches for that rig. I bought the DAA race master pouches and holster. If it helps I am planning to use the Black Scorpion mag pouches for my Carry Optics rig. Although you didn't ask, I am not going to use Black Scorpion belt; I ordered a Shooters Connections belt to use.
  25. I used a Caldwell ballistic G2 chronograph to check the loads in the two earlier post. I bought the G2 while on sale, i believe it cost me $184. I also have an older Prochrono that worked very well for 18 plus years. I only bought the G2 because the Prochrono started having problems (stopped picking up my shots) and I liked the concept of the G2. I think either will serve you well, and both chronographs are in your budget.
