  1. My notes say 8.8 HS-6 with 124 Bayou gave me 1368. STI GM 38SC
  2. I'm using my own cast TC Hi-Tek coated. 121 grain 7.6-7.7 AC gives me around 1400 fps 118 grain 7.8-7.9 AC gives me around 1450 fps 38 super 1.240"
  3. I've been trying left over Mobil 1 0-20.
  4. I just ordered the LEE sizing die. The Hornady sized to .382" and the LEE .384". My unfired brass is .392". I'll see how this goes.
  5. I use 4.3 grains of WST with a 230 grain TC. I get 750 fps out of my M&P 4.25"
  6. I've got a bunch of it myself. I plan on using a primer pocket tool to remove the crimp.
  7. I'm using this. Works great
  8. I coat my own using Hi-Tek. As mentioned above, if you don't heat the coating long enough or hot enough it stinks. When properly cured, there is no smell.
  9. I have the same dies. I size and deprime separately. It takes lots of force. The chamber on my STI is quite generous. I'm sure that doesn't help.
  10. I switched to 9mm from 45. I was using the FCD in 45 with no apparent issues. I use my own cast bullets. I ordered the FCD for the 9. I was ready to throw my new M&P pro in the garbage the first few months I owned it. The FCD was sizing down my bullets and causing poor accuracy. It was driving me nuts. I finally got rid of the FCD and went with a Lyman M die and taper crimp die. All is well now, M&P rocks.
  11. If you're at an advanced age, you need prescription help to focus on the front sight. The fix is almost always +.75 to your distance prescription for pistol/carbine I find +.50 works for long barrel rifles
  12. I have the SSS SS guide rod and 13 pound spring in my Pro. Runs great
  13. My Witness steel without rail is 35.5 oz without mag.
  14. Don't rule out high primers. Do you have a hand primer to check for a seating problem?
  15. my 5" Pro was made 3/2015. the Apex parts fit right in. 3 1/2 pounds.
  16. Well, the open gun with the thumb rest is easier /faster to shoot. So I guess it "manages" the recoil better. The CO gun is just plain fun to shoot. It's a little slower getting back on target, as it should be. I've been shooting USPSA for less than a year. I love dots.
  17. I'm tweaking my full size witness steel for production and ESP. I installed a 12 pound wolf spring and it still seems a little stiff. I installed a 13lb hammer spring. What is the preferred recoil spring weight for minor PF? Thanks
  18. Yea I wondered since one is rimmed and one is not. I discovered that by leaving the retainer a little loose it allows the case freedom to ride in the shell plate and helps it line up with the mandrel. I still have to watch it and give it a hand once in awhile, but got through 150 rounds yesterday without crushing any more cases. If your using the 19S shellplate, it is designed for 9mm and 40. So letting it float is the right thing to do.
  19. How about this. I bought this for the wife. She had problems pulling the slide back. This works.
  20. The STI barrel is not threaded, so not considered an assault weapon.
