  1. So does the M&P CORE pro series have to have the APEX Forward Set Sear upgrade also, or is that the improvement that is in the pro series trigger?
  2. I am about to find out how I do with this issue also. I am going to put a Trijicon RMR on my M&P CORE. I hope that the co-witness with the iron sights will solve the find the dot problem for me.
  3. Sometimes it's kind of silly to see all the "bumps" under the cover garment. But the game side say's it don't matter. I where a shirt, usually sleeveless, over a t-shirt.
  4. Glock ....... M&P ......... Sorry I couldn't resist. It wouldn't be a 1911 / 2011 without the grip safety. Besides the grip safety adds 1 part - the grip safety held in by the thumb safety.
  5. Any hard case you like and cut the foam out to fit your pistol.
  6. I use to think 6.5 MOA was huge until I tried it. 6.5 inches at 100 yds; 3.25 at 50; 1.625 at 25; and under and inch at 12.5 yds. When I get to thinking about my group size, I'd be tickled to shoot a 1.5 inch group at 25 yrds, with open sights, all day long. So it already way more précises than I am.
  7. +1 for the Trojan. I have the STI Trojan 9mm and I really like it. I have thought about one in 45. I compared it to the Range Office in 9mm and think it is better and worth the extra bucks.
  8. Seems like optics on handguns has been here a while. I think they are the future of the handgun and that means defensive weapon. They are the new sight system. We moved from no sights pistol in black powder, to a bead, to a rear sight / front sight and now optic. I had a extended eye relief scope on a revolver 25 years ago hunting deer. It's just progress and I'm game.
  9. All I had to do on the mag release was to remove the low pro button and I replaced the big ice magwell with a tactical magwell. Also put the original mag base pad back on the magizine. The rest should work for IDPA. And Dawson sends you the original part that they replace or took off your gun.
  10. If it is a dawson front sight it's probable 1 mm or .039 inches. I buy my replacement from Fiber Optic Products, Inc. It runs about $5.55 for 3 feet. They sell lots of different sizes. They have orange, red, green, violet, and yellow color's.
  11. Not trying to hijack the thread but had a question. So are all the STI Trubor in 9mm considered 9 major in caliber or pressure handling?
  12. I just did some swapping around and got a 9mm CORE in 5 inch too. I'm still waiting for the new Deltapoint Pro to come out and I am leaning towards the 7.5 triangle. Read a lot about using the tip of the triangle for precision shooting at a distance.
  13. Seems like everyone is saying the cost will be about the same as a new gun. The point of selling one caliber is something I hadn't thought of. Also never though about the wear factor on the frame that's a good point.
  14. Five trips? You must have a big truck or you wife is more frugal than mine. 5 trips might get the shoes. Lol
  15. If you saying you can buy this gun for $400 to $450 range - it's a no brainer. I shot lots of 45 acp in 1911 in my younger years. Started back shooting, and began with IDPA. Decided to go with 9mm 1911 and picked up a STI Trojan. It's a great and fun gun to shoot. Then like zimm33, I got a 2011. The 1911 / 2011 is iconic and they shoot well. Not knocking the plastic fantastic guns, I have a couple of them too. But there is something about running the 1911's, maybe its my age. And if you can get it for the price you say, go for it, you can't loose any money.
  16. I'll be interested in seeing the Deltapoint pro, but at $100 increase it's getting into the Trijicon price range. I don't know how they compare but my thinking is the Trijicon might be a tad tougher than the DP. I had been holding off on a red dot sight since the DPII was announced guess I'll wait a little longer to see the Pro version.
  17. I realize this is a pistol smith's job. I have a STI 2011 in 9mm and was wondering how hard and how expensive it would be to have another slide fitted in say a 40 caliber or 45? I know you have to change the ejector but I have been seeing where a lot of 9mm ejectors are being replaced with shorter ejectors due to magazine hitting and breaking the ejector. I would guess that obviously you have to fit the slide to the frame since the frame has to fit both slides. You couldn't work on both together to get them mated. Or is it cheaper to buy the new gun in the different caliber?
  18. I'd be interested in an update also. I'm kind having the same problem with an STI 9mm myself. Still haven't tried to let somebody else shoot it to see if it's me or not, need to do that for sure.
  19. As a new competitor in IDPA, I really hope that the optic's division takes off. I currently shoot SSP and ESP. I'm not sure how revolvers fit it here, maybe have an optics pistol and optics revolver class. There are a lot of companies that install optics on carry guns. Lone Wolf sells their glock slides milled for red dot sights. So changing top ends and using the same frame is something you can do now. I am looking forward to the possibility of some new and different style of shooting in IDPA. I just hope they don't kill it with rules.
  20. Dawson Precision shows to have 2 Eagle 5.0 in stock in 40 cal. They also have 5 Edges in .40 cal. If you plan to shoot where there is a difference in power factor and you reload then 40 would be a good choice. I think they all come with Dawson FO front site and the tool less guide rod standard. They use to ship for free too. For $100 more you can get their "competition ready pistol" or CRP conversion. You can even get hard chrome finish done or just about any other modification you want done to an STI pistol. They're good folks to deal with.
  21. I like dawson sights have them on my 1911, 2011, and a couple of glocks and my witness match.
  22. Thanks for all the info. What caliber are most of you all shooting in open class especially in the Trubor's? I think they come in 9mm and 38 super, right? Probably the best idea I keep hearing you all tell me is to go run what I have at some local matches before I spend lots of money on a new gun and red dot. That's probably the smart thing to do. I just get that gun buying itch, too bad I have a champagne taste on a beer income. haha
  23. If this is your goal, shoot USPSA. Haha - ok sorry I couldn't help myself - it was too easy . I haven't read the rules on USPSA but I take it that they may be a little more "forgiving" than some of IDPA's. I have also learned to be careful as some guys are really into the sport and my wit and humor, as the new guy, is not always welcomed (if you know what I mean).
  24. chuckstur Posted 01 November 2014 - 04:43 PM My Eagle is still at 95%. Feed stoppages despite STI re-profiling the feed ramp. Presently at 1.7 OAL with BBI 180s. 165s are worse. Tried 10# to 14# recoil springs. Magazine lips .381" to .388". Ordered Grams followers Isn't 1.7 OAL kind of long on a .40 cal? Thought factory was about 1.135 at the max. 1 3/4 inches seems kind of long to me.
