  1. I switched to the Vortex mount from the PEPR mount. I didn't like the big nuts on the side of the PEPR mount. No issues with the Vortex mount.
  2. I've been carrying a commander size 1911 for a while. It feels great as far as balance, I can share mags with my other 1911s and it's not a bad shooter. I bobtailed and it helps a lot with concealing it.
  3. Proper grip, I try not to make things too complicated with my arms and shoulders being "just right".
  4. I have been shooting limited 10 with a Ruger CMD. set up more for carry not matches but it was the only one I had to start shooting matches with. I have over 20,000 rounds out of it with stock internals... No issues, no complaints.
  5. A lot of data in this thread. I'm pretty well stocked up on WST for 45s. Good to know I can use it if I run out of Titegroup in the 9mm.
  6. Is that commander length? That is an appealing simple pistol, nice. Yep commander length. I like simple things and small changes that a lot of people would never notice. This one will probably get retired back to carry only. I just picked up a 9mm 1911 for matches.
  7. Awesome thread! I just got a Citadel 9mm I plan to use for single stack.
  8. Your boss is also smart. You just made yourself easier to manage by giving him a guarantee you'll be getting full duty out of the machines. No, not just the blue ones. Being the only employee and the one who does 99% of the work has its benefits.
  9. When you set up your reloading bench at work... You know you have a cool boss when he says "I don't care what you do as long as there's a spindle turning" So yes I get paid to reload.
  10. They are 70s series. No firing pin block. The Remington's and Para's are 80s series.
  11. I have over 20,000 rounds out of mine with no issues. I'm looking into getting a government model for a single stack gun.
  12. Good to hear people are happy with these, I've been looking at them for a while!
  13. I have been doing the Ben Stoeger 15 minute dry fire drills. Seemed to help a lot at the last match I shot.
  14. I've been very happy with vortex optics. My most recent was a Viper hs, 2.5-10. It was $419 and free shipping on midway.

  16. In the summer when the range is open later I usually shoot on Wednesday, Friday and one day on the weekend. I usually shoot 200-300 rounds each range trip. Now that they close earlier it's Fridays and one day a weekend. I do the 15 minute dry fire practice every day, if I skip a day I make it up the next day. I'm new to shooting matches so I'm trying really focus on getting better. But I have noticed it's as much a mental game as it is a skill game.
  17. Yep, it's the same gun (for now). Ruger CMD, I will eventually start working on a 5" 1911 for matches.
  18. Vortex scopes have a good eye relief. I've been very pleased with ever piece of glass I've owned from them. From a diamondback to a viper.
  19. Lots of dry fire would be my recommendation. I'm also new to the sport. Dry fire seems to be helping me a lot. For live fire practice I usually set up a steel challenge stage (my wife likes to shoot them) I usually do a few strings with strong and weak hand.
  20. Cool project. Subbed to come back and read instead of look at a few pictures.
  21. Damn Nick, that's some shop You aren't taking on one off machining jobs are you? We are a job shop so I can take a look at something. I prefer not to do slides or anything(I don't want to replace something if I mess up), I can't do frames, no FFL. But anything else I will gladly take a look at Im about to start on throw levers for scopes and mag bases for a Springfield hi-cap 1911.
  22. Not enough bell. Also is your seat die for a round nose or truncated?
