  1. I have a set of Brown and Sharpe dial calipers on my reloading bench. For most tolerances calipers are fine, a micrometer that goes to 4 decimal places will be better… but totally unnecessary for reloading pistol ammo.
  2. Deadlifts and dead hangs from a pull up bar will increase your grip strength and overall strength. Win win
  3. I don’t worry about anything unless it’s more than +-.005. if you’re shooting for less than .001 variance calipers are not the correct tool for that measurement.
  4. Hey guys, I’m one of the owners of Nevermiss Industries and creators of the Alpha Hanger. The newest version of the hangers is .25 shorter than the first batch that was released. We learned some holster configurations weren’t legal with the canted plate. The old version has a main plate with an overall length of 4.81, the new version is 4.56. If there are any specific questions feel free reach out to us on FB, IG, our website or just send me a PM.
  5. I’ve looked through a couple of Sig R3 XLs. I liked them enough to buy 2 of them and sell off my DPPs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I picked up some Liberty Lubricants HLP off a prize table last year, it has been great and all I run now. Bonus for a small company that supports USPSA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I have always ran Evo grips. I just put an LSI grip on a frame, the texture is perfect, it fit perfect. Quick measurements say it is about .03 wider but about .03 shorter (front to back) it does feel a little “blockier” than an evo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Prototype mount from a small start up called Nevermiss Industries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. He’s doing some awesome stuff! My press is all accessorized with his goodies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Another one for slide to frame fit isn’t that important for accuracy. I had a pistol that I checked before welding the frame rails, there was a total of .012 of play in the slide to frame, when I put the gun in a vice and a pin in the barrel, it returned within .001 every time. The barrel was fit perfect but the slide to frame didn’t effect accuracy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I recently shot a match with irons after shooting open all year. I can track the sights a lot better and call shots, but it’s hard to be patient and line up sights vs fiber on target. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Do it! I went from limited to CO (for a very short period) and loved the dot. Mount the dot to the frame and shoot major power factor for even more fun! I’m running a 9major gun that I built on a JEM slide frame, MBX mags (with Taran springs) and 124grain Everglades. If the gun is built right and tuned with your mags and your ammo it should just need a wipe down and oil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I'm running STI tubes with tti springs/followers and 4g2 pads. I can get 21 in all 4 of my mags. I run 21 in my #1 mag and 20 in the 3 on my belt just for ease of loading. I just recently tuned my STI tubes with the Dawson kit. I'm tempted to try a couple of mbx tubes just because. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I changed to an older tool head that was making 9mm ammo. As of now I think I found the sweet spot for all of my dies. Everything worked good yesterday.
  15. Loaded 700 this afternoon, I've chamber checked 400 of them. So far: Winchester 100/100 pass Cbc 95/100 S&B 198/200. Give me enough ammo to take over to a last minute match I'm shooting tomorrow. I have some other headstamps loaded but have not checked them yet. Also the bullets I checked that I thought were .400 were actually .401, I got a mic out and checked them... I thought it was a little odd to have Bayous that were sized different. 16. So either my OCD kicked in, or I completely lost my mind last night. I sorted about 2000 pieces of brass by headstamp. I'm going to load 100 of each headstamp and see how it works out as far as failures to chamber check. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I'm curious about your stages? How does a complex stage dictate that you need to shoot more than 41-43 rounds? Or do multiple reloads. I thought of one match so far this year that I have planned 2 reloads, there was X number of targets on the left side of a shoot house that got taken on the move, get to the back and do a reload to take a few arrays of steel, after the steel there was some distance to cover with more paper and a few farther steel on the right. I broke that one into 3 mags just because it was pushing the round count close trying to combine the 2 of the positions on 1 mag. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. All the other 40 bullets I have loaded have been .401, this box is .400-.4005. Velocity was about 30fps slower (166PF). Accuracy did not seem to be effected. Off to the basement to load up 500 rounds for A1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Finished off a box of bayous with 100 pieces of Starline brass, first time 100 good rounds have come off the press in a row. Opened a new box of bullets and they are sized to .401, so far 3 out of 100 have failed to plunk test (they would chamber if cycled through the gun but I'm loading rounds for A1). I will see how much the velocity is effected tomorrow going from .401-.400. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I'm using bayous sized at .401 (normal). I have a couple of buddies that run bayous and leather heads. They load on hornady presses with zero issues. Another buddy runs a 550 (like me), but runs xtreme's but doesn't have issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I though I had it pretty well fixed but it's coming back again. I'm getting a few that don't pass the plunk test. The real issue is the ones that plunk test ok, but if you rotate the round wrong it will get hung up when trying to feed. I was hoping to have this sorted out by now, area 1 is next week and my pistol is choking on this ammo. I did notice a lot of the rounds that are hanging up are GFL headstamp. I'm going to try some different brass tonight and also try some new star line brass.
  22. This happened to me with Wilson ETM mags with flat wire springs.(45acp) I actually never got the issue since I switched to limited and don't play in SS much lately. I'm curious as to what the outcome is.
  23. I run 3 on my belt after I make ready. I've only gone to the 2nd mag on my belt when my days of Single Stack stages popped into my mind and threw a reload just because I was moving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
